Two weeks after the failed attempt at capturing Kabuto, Naruto and Sakura had found themselves feeling defeated. Naruto himself wondered if he would ever be


able to keep his promise to her, though he never told the pink-haired kunoichi as much. Doing so wouold only cause her to worry and cry, and he did'nt want to make her

suffer. The cold, night air sent chills down his spine; that and something felt paticularly eerie in Konoha. It is only eight in the evening, but not one single villager was out.

Non of the stores or restaurants were open. Heck, even the ramen shop was closed, which sent alarms off in the blonde's head. "We never, ever close until eleven." the

ramen maker stated proudly. "People love our ramen, especially you, kid." The house lights were on, so it was obvious that they were home. But why? There was something

off tonight, that was for sure.

"Danm, this is weird." Naruto muttered to himself. For a half-hour he walked around the quiet town, becoming more and more unnerved. Normally, some of the older kids

would come out to gawk and throw things at him, the town's monster. Every day, he ignored those cruel people, but now, even having them around would make things seem

a little less disturbing. It was'nt until he got to the front gate that he found the problem. There stood Sakura, conversing seriously with none other than Orochimaru,

Sauske and Kabuto. Why don't you use my power, kit? Kyuubi said with a dark malace. You hate him, so get angry and have a blast. Go to hell, fox! Naruto

protested mentally. The fox demon left without a word. That left him to turn his attention to the matter at hand. "Leave her alone, you freak!" he roared, running to

Sakura's side. They smirked knowingly at the two leaf ninja.

"Well, if it is'nt the jinnkuri himself." the snake stated, licking his lips.

"I told you the dobe would show, Kabuto." Sauske said, his tone just as cold and pompus as ever. "You owe one-thousand ryo."

"Yeah, yeah," the medical ninja sighed in annoyance. "I know." Then he threw a small coin purse at Sauske, who caught it. Naruto glared at the three of them, trying to

quell the anger and fear in his heart. What were they doing here? Was Konoha under attack? A sinking feeling hit the pit of his stomach as Sakura walked over to

Sauske.

"Sakura-chan!" he cried, running to stop her. "Do'nt go near him! He's still under that snake bastard's contorl!" Sauske beat him to her, though. With an unsusal air of

tenderness, he embraced her.

"I'm so glad you've chosen to come with me, Sakura." he said, kissing her on the cheek. This, more than anything, shocked the demon vessel. Since when did he give a

rat's ass about her? Was'nt it Sauske who left Sakura to deal with her broken heart, one that Naruto worked hard to fix. And what of Sakura? Why would she even

join that vile serpent?

"What the fuck are you talking about?" he asked, no longer calm. "Why would Sakura join Orochimaru?" The sannin chuckled darkly at Naruto's confusion. " And what

what are YOU laughing at, ass hole?" Orochimaru sighed and shook his head.

"You poor, poor monster. You have no idea, do you?" he then looked over in Sakura's direction. "Tell him, Sakura-kun." Sakura had a serious, yet sad expression. His

stomach sickened further, as she walked over to him.

"Listen, Naruto-kun, Sauske sent me a letter three days ago, asking me to talk with him here." she admitted, tears welling up in her green eyes. "I came like he asked,

and I have good news for you. Orochimaru made a replica of Sauske's body, and is keeping the real one around." Trembling and crying, she slowly pulled out a kunai

knife. "And since Sauske refuses to come back to Konoha, Orochimaru made a deal with me." Sakura threw the kunai at him. Naruto quickly dodged, but it was sloppy.

His whole body shook with unshed tears, and he could feel his features change slightly.

"Don't tell me that you're joining him too!" he growled, trying to hold back. Sakura looked guiltily away from him. No, I can't lose her too! he thought, begining to panic.

"Please, Sakura-chan." he added softly, submitting to his sorrow. "You can't leave. I know I'm not Sauske, but I love you. You know I do." Kabuto busted out laughing.

"Oh, Kami, I can't believe it! The jinnkuri in love!" Kabuto shouted joyously.

"How pathetic." Orochimaru agreed, holding back his laugter. "Naruto Uzumaki, Konoha's demon, actually thinks that he has a chance with the village's brightest, most

talented kunoichi." He then looked at Sakura and Sauske. "Attack the demon." he instructed coldly. "And be quick. There is much work to be done."

"Hai." Naruto's former teammates said in unison. An image of the fight between him and Sauske almost three years ago came to mind. It's just like back then. he realized,

as Sakura punched him with all her strength. She hit him so hard that it felt like the ground was holding him still. First Sauske, now Sakura. Tears streamed down his

face as his former allies beat him to a bloody pulp. Naruto let them pummel him, too hurt to fight back.

"Why are you doing this, Sakura?" a cold, angry voice scolded. "I'd expect this from that pompus Uchiha, but not you!"

"Well, if it isn't Tsunade." Orochimaru said, loving every minuet of this. "I was wondering how long it would take you to get here. And here I was hoping that they'd

kill that demon of yours."

"Tsunade- sama." Sakura said sadly. " I'm sorry, but Sauske wants me to be with him, and I could'nt say no. I love-" Tsunade went to punch her former student in the

face, but Orochimaru stopped it with his hand.

"Now, now, Tsunade. I can't let you hurt my new assistant. She will be very useful in my future plans."

"GO TO HELL!" the Fifth raged, punching him so hard that he was sent back flying into a telephone pole, which snapped in half and landed in the street. "IT'S YOU!

IT'S ALWAYS YOU!" Then she ran to Naruto and helped him up. There were tears in her amber eyes. "I'm ashamed to call you and my so-called student former allies.

Only Naruto is worth any praise or respect. First you betray Jiraya, then you have Sakura AND Sauske do the same to the only person who has the right to BE hokage!"

The snake merely smirked at them. Without a word, Kabuto threw a smoke bomb. When the smoke cleared, they were gone.

"Tsunade baa-chan." Naurto whispered, feeling his body quake with his loud, heart-broken sobs. "I-I failed. I could'nt stop her!" He then did something he had never

done before: Naruto hugged Tsunade tightly and cried in her warm embrace. "It's just like at the Valley of The End! I was'nt strong enough to save Sauske, and now,

Sakura-chan is gone! Why, why do they always leave me?" For a while, they just stood there, crying. To Naurto, his whole world had been lost. Every bond he had made

was being broken. Who would leave him next? Jiraya? Iruka? Or would it be the lady who comforted him now? "I guess this is my punishment for being a jinnukuri."

he wispered sometime later, his world turned completely black.

Naruto awoke to find himself in Tsunade's bed, with her sleeping on a chair next to him. I don't deserve anyone. he thought, turning away from her. Not her, and

not Hinata. Shut up, you stupid human! the fox shouted in his head. All you do is bitch and cry when things don't go your way! So what if the village hates

you? Fuck them and forget it! The thing I hate most in this world is people who never shut up. Naruto sighed softly. So you hate me, what else is new? Everyone

does, so its obvious that my inner demon would be disgusted by me, too. My life is a failure. There is nothing left for me here. He tried to sit up, but he winced in pain.

I'll let you heal when I know you won't try to commit suicide. Kyuubi added, keeping an even tone.I would perfer to die in a battle, not at the hands of a

pathetic idiot like you. And if you even think about doing it agian, I'll come out and force you to kill every single villager. Now go to sleep, baka. Once again,

Naruto felt his eyes close against his will. Though the blonde failed to realize it, Kyuubi was'nt defending just himself; deep down, the demon held some loyalty to his

jailer. And when that old hag wakes up, he thought to himself. I'm going to have a little chat with her.
