Burning Phoenix

Most people say I don’t exist
They just don’t know I’m there
This “mythical bird” doesn’t just disappear to where

The truth is I am in disguise
I’m tired of being lonely so I have been trying something new
Like the air you know is there but can’t see
I have redesigned myself into the “new” me

In the hearts of mortals I reside
It’s a wonderous place
I’m quite impressed
But only the select few I can posses

It’s quite simple really
Not hard at all
These special souls must contain the qualities to call out to my spirit

No matter the danger, fear, regret

The, the struggle, the stress
Life that sends humans to their knees
These select few refuse to fall
They continue to soar during Life’s worst stall

They understand the Phoenix’s need to rise above all
I’m rather enjoying myself
I haven’t picked a wrong one yet
But still I’ll admit this latest one is making me fret

Instead of bursting into flames to let the ashes fall
So that we can both rise above it all
They seem to be content
To keep us burning in this infernal stage

They refuse to accept our ashened form
They refuse to regenerate
And remain torn

So here I reside in a frozen inferno
I do hope they snap out of this slump
Continued grief and regret is not what a Phoenix is supposed to do
We deal with the problem
Then burn a new

In this fiery prison I shall stay
Until my human’s soul rises brightly with a new flame
Or drags my spirit into the nothingness with their eternal pain
