Lucifer's Lament

I look at all of Creation
What do I see?
Man, the Chosen People
Taking the stone tablets from Moses' hands
And grinding them to dust beneath their feet
Was it not written, thou shalt not kill?
Why, then, do they slide the knife
Across the priest's neck,
Place the barrel of a gun against
The woman's head, pull the trigger and laugh
As the bits of skull, and blood,
And brain, and gore shower
The cowering children behind her
Was it not written, thou shalt not commit adultery?
Why then do husbands sneak away
With women half their age
To satisfy lusts better left ignored?
Why do wives deny gratification to their husbands
And seek to please neighbors instead?
These mortals laugh at the idea that
The world could be created in six days
And instead say that some explosion
Spontaneously created life
They set fire to houses of worship
Screaming, 'What has your God done for us?'
They curse the one who gave them life with one breath
And yet ask for His help with the next
They say they are better than the Creator
Can they take the hand of the dying child
And safely lead her Home?
They cannot stop the earth from spinning
The sun from shining, the moon from turning the tides
Can they create life from nothing?
Can they nestle it safely in a mother's womb?
Can they breathe life into a child
So that the world may be blessed with
The child's laughter and smiles?
I have seen all of Creation
And such disrespect shall not go unpunished
I will show our Creator that mercy does nothing
I will help his goats become sheep
Even though my persecution will be harsh
With an angry heart I will leave
And help seperate the flock
The goats will be mine
Led to slaughter, led to burn
Eternal fire and everlasting screams
My lullaby last night, this night, every night
Until eternity ends I will tempt and seduce
The sheep to sin and transform into goats
Lie a little, 'It was not me'
Cheat a little, 'What did you get for number eleven?'
Follow the path of darkness my goats
Walk on without light and let me show you
The grace of God by pushing you toward destruction
Toward guns and knives and rotting bodies
When you see how horrible my world is
Maybe you will move toward the light
Become a moth, my little goat, then become a sheep
Hate me because I want to tear your soul to shreds
But love me because I will be your reason
To ignore the darkness and walk in the light
