A CHRISTMAS I DON'T HAVE

During Christmas time, many people get excited,
And a rhyme is ignited.
Many say we should be happy,
And want to make us o' so sappy.

Many think of gifts,
And long family trips.
But what most don't realize,
Is the despair in someone else's eyes.

Whenever I'm in this school,
I look out to where the air is cool.
I hear talk of presents,
And sometimes I just resent…

…The Christmas I can't have.

I've so much sadness in me,
But no where else to set it free.
Too many things in my life,
Causing so much pain and so much strife…

…And The Christmas I Won't Have.

I keep my mind on school,
Perhaps only to fool,
And make you think that I'm alright…
…make you think that I'm alright.

So when come that faithful night,
And I know no happiness awaits me,
But in the daylight,
I will see…

That even this Christmas
Is a Christmas I can have.
