Shut Down Angel

Red edged earth
against a setting sun.
Crimson on innocent brown.

Sunlight drips
down soft pale lips,
bringing out your frown.
Close your eyes, sweet angel.
You're on the edge; don't look down.

Was this the world you searched for?
The one where you would rest
Did you know you would lose your soul?
Though you fought and would detest.

Shut down angel,
dancing in the shadows with corpses.
Life is death, which is worse?
Riding to the end with me,
riding in a hearse

Would take my stone hand and follow me,
so rough and hard to hold.
Hold you close as your breath escapes
so faintly and so cold.

Drift silently over me
as soft black feathers fall.
A real life séance and I can't resist,
as your tears and sorrow calls.

I wish I could forget you.
I wish I could,
but our fate is so tempting.
If you fly away with me,
I probably would.

I reach for your pale hand.
As I touch it, colder it grows,
and I shiver in regret
because I know

That you have come
to shut me down, angel.
my life's not done,
but shut me down, angel.

How safe is the dark?
Shut me down, angel.
I give you my heart,
just shut me down, angel.

I long to fly,
so shut me down, angel
I don't want to die,
but shut me down, angel.
Shut me down,
my shut down angel.
