Original Poetry Fan Fiction ❯ Streetcorner Symphony's Poems ❯ And All That Jazz ( Chapter 1 )

“5… 6… 7… 8…”

Welcome to “Jazz!”
Turn of the century
And it fell sweetly
From their lips…
An innovative form
Of hybrid music
Echoes in the streets

“Come on babe
Why don't we paint the town?”

And all that Jazz!
1920, New Orleans,
Smooth brass tunes
Came from inside
The clubs and bars
When those
Big Brass Bands
Found somethin' new,
That ragged tune…

“'Cause in the stratosphere
How could he lend an ear
To all that Jazz?”

Now, Chicago,
And New York too,
With theatres, clubs,
And those whoopee spots
Jazz found somethin' new!

“And all that Jazz”

That Jazz!
And All That Jazz
