Totally random poem. We were covering Sestina's in my Poetry class, and had to bring one in to share with the class. I brought in one that was published and brought in this one that I wrote, intentionally not sticking to iambic pentameter that is required for a true Sestina. It's based off of Stephenie Meyer's vampire love saga, Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse.

twilight
Most are at the mercy of Death
When immortality takes their soul
There was no choice into this life,
Just three days of agonizing pain
Before an eternity
Of loneliness and regret.
Nevertheless, this is a decision to regret
For there is no taking back, like death,
It is for all eternity
And heaven won't take your soul.
Another cause to his pain,
Your blood calls to him, in his hands, your life.
Yet, you are ready to take your life.
Your voice carries an edge of regret,
One look into his eyes and all you see is pain.
Exactly how to explain to your parents the death
of a daughter so full of soul.
Just leave them your mess and live an eternity
A boy you will love for eternity,
Who does not want to take your life.
He believes that heaven needs your soul,
Without you, there is nothing to regret
He refuses to be the cause of your human death,
To be the one to bring on the pain.
However, with a bargain, he will create your pain
Marriage in exchange for an eternity.
All worth the awaiting death,
All worth the awaiting immortal life,
Look back with no regret.
In his topaz eyes and granite gaze, he holds your soul.
With the setting sun, there is no more soul,
Just like the twilight of pain,
The new moon of regret,
The eclipse of eternity,
And the breaking dawn of life,
There is no pain of death.
There is no more time to regret the loss of your soul,
Or the death of your humanity and the pain of poison.
There will only be an eternity of life's true love.
