Chapter One
THE MEETING~

Corrin walked with absolute boredom. The weather was hot, and in his steel plated armor he was practically cooking. He thought about the things he longed for.
First of all, he longed to dive into the nearby fountain to cool off. But that was besides the point.
He was miserable and lonely. So recently his friend and fellow knight, Rinki, found "love" if you could even call it that. It had been so long since Corrin had had any love. Let alone a real relationship.
Just then, Corrin looked up and saw her. And he knew that SHE would be the one.
A tall, elegant woman. Her grey skin and pointed ears showed him that she was an Laia, but her silver, almost metallic hair showed that she was different from most Laia's.
She wore a black suit that covered most of her skin, and yet he couldn't help but feel that it wasn't enough clothing, since it was tight and showed off her slender and curvy figure.
The most startling thing about her was that, in her hand, she carried a massive and scary double sided axe. Also, by her side was a long tailed Lu`uki. An orange, feline creature the size of a small horse with a mane and a long tale that swished back and forth. It was odd, Corrin thought, that one would be here. The only time Corrin had ever seen them was in the dark forests of Thenral on a mission once. He began to sheath his sword but realized it meant no harm. In fact, it seemed rather tame.
Corrin sighed and approached the woman. She must not have been from around here, since all the girls here were either farm girls or working maidens. The closest to beauty he had seen around here were the local twats who hung at the tavern scouting for men.
Well, there was ONE other...

Deztri tapped her chin and stared at the maps on the wall. It looked like a different language and she had no idea where to go. How frustrating. Next to her, KorrDzur growled to signal an approaching person. Deztri glanced to make sure the man was no threat, but otherwise continued trying to decipher the map.
"Now, what is a lovely lady like you doing in a town like this?" The man said, stopping next to her. Deztri rolled her eyes at his weak attempt to woo her, but decided to go along with it. Maybe he could even tell her what she needed to know.
"If you must know, I am here in search of work." She replied without looking at him.
He was quiet, "Then why ye be looking so hard at that map, miss? Shouldn't you have moved on by now?"
Deztri, feeling more than stupid, twitched before turning to retort. But she stopped in her tracks. He was... gorgeous! His strong jaw line showed a face full of support and health, but his blue eyes showed depth and suaveness. Then she realized it. This fool was wearing armor. Great. The local law enforcement was questioning her about loitering.
"I simply seem to have lost my way."
He raised a blonde eyebrow, "Oh? So what's the problem?"
"I," she hesitated, then sighed, "Can't read the map."
He smiled, amused, which made Deztri angry. He must have saw it in her eyes.
"Well! Just tell me where you need to go ma'am and I'll be happy to guide you." He smiled, hoping he hadn't angered her too much.
She forced a smile onto her face, "Sir, that would be so beneficial for me. Only one question, what's in it for you?"
"I get to make sure a beautiful lady is safe! What is so wrong with that?"
Besides her, KorrDzur let out a small sigh.
"Yeah," Deztri turned to him and stroked his fur, "I'm not buying it either."
The man's smile faded, "Do you want to get there or not?"
"Fine fine," Deztri smiled, very amused now, and took her place in step besides him.
"So, where to ma'am?"
"First of all, don't call me ma'am. Second of all, take me to the inn. I need a place to stay whilst I look for work."
He nodded and they walked in silence for a few moments before Deztri spoke up.
"So what is your name, knight?" She asked, looking at him.
"Corrin," He smiled, "And yours?"
"Deztri," she nodded towards the beast walking next to her with his tongue hanging out, "And this is KorrDzur."
"Deztri," the words rolling off his tongue sent shivers down her back, "Can I call you Dez?"
"No. But you can call me Deztri." She grinned.
He smiled too, "Alright Deztri. What kind of work are you looking for?"
"Well... I'm not really sure. Just anything for money, I guess."
"Ha," Corrin laughed, "Aren't we all."
"What kind of work do you do?" She asked timidly. Although she already knew.
"I," he said, sticking out his chest proudly, "Am a royal knight for the princess."
"Why do we call her the princess, anyway?"
"Because she calls all of the shots! And he mother IS still alive, she's just very sick. So until she dies, the Princess she shall be."
"Okay." Her eyes narrowed, but Corrin seemed to really want to gloat about his job.
"You see, she sends knights out to every city and town. But I was lucky enough to stay here! In fact I even get to work in the castle, sometimes."
"I'm sure it is very exciting."
"It is! Only, we are really short on knights right now, so I'm supposed to be looking for more recruits right now." He scratched his head sheepishly.
Deztri's eyes glimmered as they stopped in front of a large building.
"Well, here we are."
She looked at him and smiled, "Thank you so much. I have a feeling we'll be seeing each other again soon. Bye!" And she went inside.
"Farewell," he breathed. It had been so hard to keep it together around her! Oh, he'd acted like such a fool. But he couldn't get over how he'd felt when she looked at him with those cold, yellow eyes...
