The Traitor Among Us

Chapter 1

No matter how many times she told herself, that they were just
words. Kizna thought to herself that after all these years, that
she should have gotten used to people making fun of her cat ears.
As she felt tears start to form, Kizna started to run back to her
quarters. No one would be there this time of day, so no one would
see her cry. She was Kizna, the fiery repairer candidate that
would punch any guy who made fun of her ears. Who could make guys
run for their lives, with just one single glare. But this was the
side she showed the world, the side who thought that crying was
for the weak. For she was also Kizna, the timid young girl who
just wanted to belong. Who cried herself to sleep after everyone
had gone to bed, because she was different. This was who the real
Kizna was, timid, shy, lonely, who just wanted to fit in. The side
that she kept hidden from everyone, until she could be alone to cry.

Guardian stepped out of his office, to refill his water container
when a running object hit him. Kizna wasn't watching were she was
going and she ran into a young man who had just stepped out into
the hall. "Are you all right, Miss?" Guardian asked concerned,
all Kizna could do not to cry was nod her head yes. Guardian
noticed that the young women, was trying her best not to cry about
something. Kizna started to panic, when she heard some of her
classmates start to enter the hall. Guardian felt the young women
tense up and whispered "trust me Miss" in to her ear when he saw
what was wrong. Guardian then formed his wings into a large cloak,
which he hid the panicking young women. "Excuse me Sir, but have
you seen a young women go by here recently?" one of the students
asked.

"What did she look like?" Guardian asked, "well.. she has reddish
pink hair, red eyes, and has a pair of cat ears on her head" the
girl replied. "Oh.. You’re looking for Miss Towryk right?" Guardian
looked up and down the hall then continued. "Just between us, I
think those ears of hers make her look very attractive. But no,
sorry girls I haven't seen her. In fact you’re the first I have seen,
since I came from my office" Guardian stated. "Oh... Thank you for
your help anyway sir" the girls replied as they walked away.
Kizna's face turned red, when she heard the young man talk about
her ears. Not from anger but from shyness, and embarrassment, no
one had ever said anything NICE about her ears before. After he
made sure that they were alone in the hall, Guardian opened his
wings. "As you can tell Miss Towryk, I have a quality that makes
me special also. Would you like to come into my office so we can
talk?" Guardian asked. Kizna bit her lip, she didn't trust anyone,
but this young man DID save her from embarrassment.

"If your not comfortable about this Miss, we could talk later if you
want?" Guardian stated. Making her mind up, she softly spoke "that's
All right Sir I am ok. We can talk in your office if you want." Opening
the door, Guardian let his young guest in first. An action that Kizna
didn't miss, * well, he seems nice but you still cant trust him..*
Guardian started to close the door then asked "Miss Towryk, would you
like me to keep the door open or closed?" Now THIS caught her attention,
and she thought *He really is concerned about me being Comfortable*.
"Can you close it, if you don't mind Sir?" Kizna asked softly, when the
door was closed Guardian pulled a seat out for her before he sat down.
Kizna's face starting to carry a pink blush, as she replied "Thank you Sir."

"Miss Towryk, I am not one of your instructors, you don't have to call
me Sir. Please call me Guardian, Ok?" Guardian asked his slightly
blushing guest. Nodding Kizna replied "Yes, Si-Guardian," "Miss Towryk,
may I ask where you were going at such a speed?" Guardian asked. Now
looking down sadly, she quietly replied "my quarters." Sadly sighing
Guardian spoke "those girls made fun of your pretty ears didn't they?"
Blushing a deeper red from Guardian's comment, Kizna just looked
down and nodded. "Humans can be so cruel at times can't they, I
have never understood why they are like that" he stated. Looking down
slightly embarrassed himself, Guardian quietly spoke "Not everyone
will make fun of your ears Miss, I..Um... think that they make you
look alluringly cute."

Kizna's eyes widened in shock, when she heard that the young man she
just met thought she was cute. After reality set in she looked back
down sadly, as tears that she could no longer hold back started to
flow. "Miss Towryk, I deeply apologize that my humble opinion made
you cry. Despite what you believe, I honestly was telling the truth
when I told you that you looked cute. You want to know what I see,
when I look at you?" Guardian asked. Kizna fanatically shook her
head no, knowing that she would hear what she normally did. "I see
an attractive young women, who has shoulder length reddish-pink hair
and captivating red eyes. I see a young lady, who is timid, insecure
and unsure of herself. Someone who just wants to be belong, and
be accepted" Guardian replied his heart aching with every tear
that trickled down Miss Towryk's cheeks.

Kizna looked up with a frightened look on her face, and then glanced
at the door. It was like this Guardian could see right through her,
that some how he could see her true being. Noticing that he scared
her, Guardian replied "I am sorry that I have scared you so bad, If
you want to leave, that door isn't locked. But please stay Miss Towryk
I will explain everything" he stated hoping that she wouldn't leave.
Kizna bit her lip as she looked from Guardian to the door. Every
instinct in her body was telling her to run, but for the first time
in her life she ignored them. "Considering that you didn't run, that
alone shows that you are willing to trust me" Guardian pointed out.

"Even if you don't trust or believe me, please listen to what I have
to say. I understand what you have been going through, more then you
think. Growing up I faced the same things as you have, being made fun
of, being called horrible names, spending most of my life alone. All
of this just because I was different, that I didn't look like a
"NORMAL" human. I hate to be the one to shatter your dreams of being
a normal human female, but trust me humanity isn't all its worth.
We are not freaks, weirdo's, or any of those unpleasant names that we
have been called. Yes, were different, BUT that is what makes each
and everyone of us special. If anything we are considered and called
"META"-humans, humans who have a special gift or ability.

I didn't have a chance to be a "normal" human Miss Towryk, I was born
with these wings. And I spent a good portion of my lifetime, trying
to finds ways to hide them or just plain get rid of them. It wasn't
until that one night, that I started to appreciate them. A racist
group kidnapped me, tied me up and threw me off a cliff. The whole
time they were saying ~when we get rid of him, there will be one less
freak to pollute our air and our town. ~ After I had freed myself, I
found that I had only two choices. To let myself die or to use what
had been my biggest burden, my wings. That night for the first time
in my life I used my wings, and it was the best thing to every happen
to me. To have the ability to fly through the air, its just makes you
feel so free. The reason people make fun of people like us, is because
they are jealous. Jealous that they will never be able to feel, what
the wind blowing into your face is like.

Or to be able to hear even the smallest minute sound, without even
trying. I guess what I am trying to say is, I want you to have what
I didn't. Someone who understands what your going through, a kindred
spirit or friend that you can talk to. So that you don't have to go
through your life, feeling that your all alone. I want to be there
for you, if you will trust me and have me as a friend" Guardian said
as he finished. Kizna didn't know what to say, all of her life she
wanted someone to relate to. Now that she had found someone, it
scared her to death. She wanted.. no she needed someone in her life,
that she could trust. But as much as she felt that she could trust
Guardian, a part of her was greatly intimidated by him. "Miss Towryk,
you don't have to decide now, or ever if you want. Just remember I
will be here if you ever, just need a friendly shoulder to cry on.
And don't worry anything that happened in this room, will not leave
it.

No one will every know that "The Mighty Miss Towryk" broke down and
cried. I will forever keep this secret, because I value your
friendship that much" Guardian stated. Kizna now felt sure that she
could trust him, she even unconsciously started to giggle as the
image of her being *The Mighty Miss Towryk* crossed her mind.
Guardian smiled when he heard her start to giggle, "You should do
that more often Miss Towryk, it just adds to your beauty" he stated.
Kizna's thoughts were interrupted by Guardian speaking to her. When
she realized what he had said; her face turned a deep red in guilty
pleasure. "Thank you Guardian" she softly whispered, Guardian just
smiled happy that she was now more comfortable around him. "Your
welcome, Miss Towryk you deserved it because it is true" he answered.
Looking down her face turning a deep red, Kizna whispered "Kizna".

"What was that, Miss Towryk?" Guardian asked, already knowing full
well what she had said. Not having the nerve now to look Guardian
in the eyes, Kizna repeated herself "please call me Kizna, not Miss
Towryk." By giving him her first name, Guardian found that Kizna
had made her mind up to trust him. "Kizna, what a beautiful name,
will these gifts of beauty ever cease? I sure hope not" Guardian
stated as he winked at her. Kizna was blushing so hard now, her
cheeks felt like they were on fire. Grinning Guardian spoke "Don't
worry Kizna, I will stop now", a look of disappointment crossed her
face. "Well... at least until your not so embarrassed anymore"
he replied winking at her once more. A small smile formed on
Kizna's face, as she thought ~ I never thought I would have a guy
flirting with me in my lifetime~.

It was then that a melody of chimes echoed through the room. Kizna
gasped and said panicky "Oh no it can’t be that late! I going to be
late for training!!!" Guardian took a chance and placed a reassuring
arm around her. "Don't Worry Miss Kizna, I will tell who ever your
instructor is that you were with me. So that you don't get into trouble"
Guardian spoke. When Kizna felt Guardian put his arm around her, she
almost bolted. But remembered that he was a gentleman so far, so she
relaxed. And replied "That's very nice Guardian, But you don't understand
this instructor doesn't take ANY type of excuse." "Oh? Who is it Miss
Kizna?" Guardian asked.

"Where is she? Azuma is going to be here any second" Wrecka spoke
worried. "Taking a "catnap" somewhere, knowing her" Saki said trying
not to laugh. "Um..That's not very n-nice Saki, h-how would you
like it someone made fun of you?" Ikhny nervously and quietly spoke.
Giving Ikhny one of her shut up looks, Saki started watching the guys.
Azuma Hijikata walked into the Pro-ing hanger, looked around and asked
"Enna, where is your repairer?" "I don't sir; I haven't seen her all
day" Zero replied just as Kizna ran into the room. Without turning
Azuma said "Towryk your late, you have 10 laps starting now." Kizna
started on her first lap as Guardian walked into the hanger. "Excuse
me Mr. Hijikata Sir, It was my fault that Repairer Towryk was late.
We were going over way's to repair the Pro-ing's more efficiently.
And We didn't notice the time until it was too late, I humbly
request that whatever punishment you have given her. That I
should receive the same amount also" Guardian stated.

Azuma was NOT in a good mood at all today, first of all he found
that the mess hall was out of his favorite coffee. And that the
next shipment wouldn't be ready until next month. Then he cut himself
while shaving, the rest of his day wasn't any better. Now some twit
dared to challenge his decision, for punishing a late repairer. He
turned around expecting that he would have to reprimand another
candidate. When he noticed Guardian standing there, Azuma's eyes
briefly widened in surprise. "Well if she was with you, then I guess
that it was important. Towryk that's enough laps, man your station"
he spoke never removing his eyes from Guardian. Kizna was on her third
lap, when she heard Azuma tell her to man her station. She had no idea
why her punishment was cut so short, then she saw Guardian talking with
Azuma. She felt her face then heat up, thinking how that was very sweet
of him for doing that for her.

Roose couldn't believe his ears; Azuma was cutting short a punishment.
Just who was that guy, never in all the years that he had attended the
G.O.A did Azuma EVER shorten a punishment. Yamagi was shocked beyond
words with the same action, Clay glanced at Kizna as she returned
and wondered. Hiead narrowed his eyes as the thought, *something
tells me I better watch out for that guy* crossed his mind. All Zero
could do was complain about how unfair it was, that HE never got his
punishments cut short. When Tukasa and Wrecka noticed Guardian, all
they could do was stare and babble incoherently. Saki smiled
seductively and softly spoke "hello and whom do we have here?" Ikhny
couldn't even look at Guardian, she was shyly blushing so hard. When
Kizna passed the girls; they quickly noticed the light blush covering
her face. They then decided to "ask" Kizna about the young man, after
training when Azuma left.
