Feelings of Truth

AN: Hi! It's me slickboy444. I would first of all like to thank all those who viewed my
last fic Dead To Alive. I am eternally grateful to each and every person who took the
time to review it. I won't leave you all in cliff-hangers this time, but I may have to on my
next story if it's the only way to get reviews. I apologize for this ahead of time, but I
really want to know what people think of my work. This story is what I think an episode
of pokemon should be when Ash and Misty confess their love. I will try and follow the
TV show as close as I can. Thank you and enjoy!

This fic is dedicated to Charizard from the pokemon tower. Thank you for your praise!

AN: 'these mean character thoughts' Their ages are whatever they are on the show.

Narrator: We join our heroes near the hours of sunset on the trails of Johto in pursuit their
dreams to become pokemon masters. Ash, Misty, and Brock are on their way towards
New Bark Town in search of adventure.

Ash: Are you sure this is the right way to New Bark Town Brock? This area doesn't look
familiar.

Brock: That's because the trail isn't as rugged going the other direction. We may have to
circumnavigate through other cities to get there safely.

Ash: Man, but that's gonna take forever!

Misty: Patience Ash, we've got lot's of time.

Ash just looked at her and sighed. He couldn't disagree with her this time.

Pickachu: I'm hungry!

Ash: Yeah, I hear ya buddy.

Misty: You just ate!

Brock: Misty that was eight hours ago.

Misty: Oh…

Ash let out a small laugh as they stopped for a quick snack. Brock looked at the map
closely while his friends were eating.

Brock: Hey! Look at this, we're just a few miles west of the ancient tower.

Ash: Ancient tower what's that?

Brock: I heard somewhere that a mysterious pokemon that nobody has ever seen before
burnt the tower with mystic flames. Ever since then people have been reporting seeing
the strange pokemon at the tower.

Ash: A pokemon nobody has ever seen before! I've got to see it and catch it! What are
we waiting for!

Ash ran off with pikachu in the direction.

Misty: Ash wait up! Slow down for once! 'Aw who am I kidding. I can't stop him,
nobody can. He's just one of those special guys.'

Misty smiled to herself at the thought as she pursued Ash. Eventually she caught up, but
Brock was still lagging behind.

Misty: Ash, don't you think we should wait for Brock?

Ash: He'll catch up, he snoozes he looses. 'Plus, I could use some alone time with
Misty.'

Misty: I guess your right. 'Plus, I could use some alone time with Ash.'

The two trainers followed the path with pikachu and togepi watching in the distance
waiting for their destination to appear. As they got closer and closer the darkness was
beginning to increase, but it seemed that the area closer to the ancient tower was slightly
darker, if not ominous.

Ash: Whoa…

As they reached the base of the tower they were overwhelmed by its size. It was almost
as if it wasn't reaching for he sky, but actually touching the sky and being a part of it.

Misty: Well, lead the way Ash.

Ash: What? But you're the one who always says ladies first!

Misty: This is a freebee.

Ash sighed.

Ash: Fine, if your that much of a wimp.

Misty: Hey!

But it was a bit too late. Ash had already led the way and made his way in to the old,
cracked gateway. Misty found herself hovering around Ash unusually close. It was
almost as if she considered him protection. The tower was old and ravaged by the winds
of time. It got darker and darker as they went deeper in to the tower, fed by Ash's
determination.

Misty: Ash! It's getting to dark in here.

Ash: No problem, pikachu use flash!

Pikachu: Right!

In a quick burst Pikachu illuminated the room with its electric glow. Misty was visible
impressed.

Misty: Wow, when did you teach pikachu that move?

Ash: After the last gym. I thought pikachu was having a hard time dodging the attacks of
bug pokemon so I decided to teach him something that would help reduce his foe's
accuracy.

Misty: Wow…That's really smart Ash.

Misty showed a surprised smile at this thinking.

Ash: Come on, I'm not a novice anymore.

Misty just laughed and kept following Ash as closely as she could. Guided by pikachu's
glow they made their way up the tower. Ash, not showing a hint of fear, urged his
friends on.

Misty: 'Man, how can he be so brave? Wait…Why do I care?'

Although she knew the answer she continued to lie to herself like she always had. Her
thoughts were interrupted when they reached a dead end. They had worked their way up
to a dark dusty room that had numerous paintings on the walls, more than then any other
room they had seen in the tower.

Ash: Looks like a dead end.

Misty: No kidding. Why does it just end here?

Ash: I don't know.

The duo and their pokemon started to look around the room at the pictures. They
resembled mystical birds with strange, enigmatic symbols.

Ash: 'This pokemon looks kind of familiar.'

Then it hit him.

Ash: Hey, this is the pokemon I saw on the first day of my journey. Remember pikachu?

Pikachu: Yeah, it's the same one!

Misty turned around and looked at the picture. She stood in silence at the mysterious
beauty of the pokemon. Even though it was just a picture it was hard to believe that Ash,
the trainer she thought she knew so well, saw a pokemon like this.

Ash reached out to touch the picture in order to clear off some of the dust. Suddenly, a
noise broke the silence.

Misty: Ahh, hug? Ash, where are you? Ash? Ash!

Pikachu: What happened?

Misty was truly worried, it was as if Ash had disappeared in to thin air. They ran over to
the wall and started feel around it in hopes of discovering what had happened to their
friend. Then, a voice echoed from the wall.

Ash: Guys!

Misty: Ash, is that you?

Ash: Yeah it's me, you have got to see this!

Misty: See what? Where are you?

Just then the wall moved. Misty and pikachu took an abrupt step back as the wall
suddenly came to live and opened like a door. There behind the wall was Ash.

Misty: Ash! You're okay!

Ash: Of coarse I'm okay. Come here you've got to see this.

She took a step forward in to the path and took a peak in. It was a staircase. A dark
narrow staircase going up for what seemed like forever.

Ash: Come on, let's check it out.

Misty: Ash are you sure about this?

Ash: Stop worrying Misty, I'll lead the way.

Misty: I'm not sure.

Ash: Come on, would I ever let anything happen to you?

Ash gave her a warm smile. The fear had turned to comfort.

Misty: Well, you're right.

Ash: Great, come on pikachu.

Pikachu: Right!

They walked up the dark stairs. Misty stayed within inches of Ash, she still thought of
him as protection. Ash on the other hand thought he had to be brave. It was almost like
an instinct to protect Misty from anything. He scrutinized everything to make sure
nothing would hurt her. For reasons left unsaid. Finally they reached the top of the high
staircase. What lay in front of them was a huge chamber door.

Ash: Well, this is the end of the line.

Misty: I wonder what's behind it?

Ash: Only one way to find out.

Ash gave the door a hard push and it stubbornly opened. It revealed a great sight to
behold. The sky.

Ash: Hey! We're on the roof of the tower.

Misty: Yeah, look at the view.

They stepped out on to the roof of the tower. In the distance the mountains could be seen
and forest was as far as the eye could see. The sky was glittering with the light of stars.

Misty: It's so…

Ash: Look!

Over the mountain a dim light grew in to a huge burst of color. Paralyzed the two
watched as the light came up like the sun. In the light a form of a majestic bird appeared.
A bird who's glow resembled that of a rainbow. The bird seemed to fly near the tower,
almost as if it was waiting for Ash and his friends. As the bird got closer Ash and Misty
looked onward with continued awe.

Misty: Ash…Is that the pokemon you saw?

Ash:…Yeah, it is. Have you ever seen anything quite like it?

Misty: No…It's so…Beautiful.

Pikachu: Yeah.

As the bird got closer a burst of glowing sparkles came raining down on the group. Each
sparkle was like a tiny star and seemed to bring joy as it fell. As these sparks fell, Ash
and Misty unknowingly held each other's hands. As the sparkles rained down Ash and
Misty felt a deep warm feeling from this event. Just then they looked at each other and
realized they were holding each other's hand.

Ash: Oh…Um…Sorry.

Misty: It's…

Both were blushing greatly. Then as they looked at each other with the silver sparkles in
the back round and just gazed in to one another's eyes. It was time.

Ash: Um…Misty. Can I tell you something?

Misty: Sure, I need to tell you something too, but you go first.

Ash: Well, you've been the only one to stand by my side since the first day of my
journey. Ever since then you've routed me on. And all this time I felt as if I needed you.
I needed to protect you and I needed you to protect me. I guess what I'm trying to say
is…Misty, I love you.

The sparkles started to glow brighter with the saying of those last three words. They had
taken the air out of her lungs.

Misty: Ash…I don't know what to say. I…You don't know how much those three little
words mean to me. Because you see…I love you too.

Ash: R…Really?

Misty: Yes Ash, I really do love you more than life itself.

The sparkles grew brighter once more, pikachu and togepi watched with a great sense of
joy as they saw their trainers finally reveal the truth. Never before had they seen two
humans show such a great deal of love for each other.

Slowly, their faces began to drift toward each other, until finally their lips met. In one
passionate moment they had sealed their love with a first kiss. They closed their eyes and
let the feeling sink in. They put their arms around each other in a great embrace and truly
didn't want to let go. The bird pokemon flew right over them as the sparkles reached
their brightest light. Then, out of exhaustion, their lips parted from one another. Still in a
loving embrace they looked at the glowing pokemon as it began to fly away.

Ash: 'Thank you…whatever pokemon you are thank you.'

As the pokemon flew away the two lovebirds waved, not knowing if they would see this
sight again. The watched until all traces of the rainbow pokemon disappeared from the
sky. Then they turned around and looked at each other.

Misty: We better get back now, it's been a while.

Ash: Yeah…But before we go I want to give you something.

Misty: What?

Ash reached inside his pocket and pulled out an envelope.

Ash: Here.

Misty: What's this?

Ash: When I first met you, you told me you followed me for a new bike. Ever since then
I've been saving my money to buy you a new one. I didn't want to give it to you because
I didn't want you to leave. But now, I want you to have it. I want it to represent the
beginning of something much more.

Misty couldn't fight back the tears.

Misty: Oh Ash…Thank you.

With more tears in her eyes she gave Ash a big kiss in show of her gratitude. Then they
picked up their and walked out hand and hand. Pikachu looked at togepi with a warm
smile, symbolizing the start of a beautiful new thing. As they left the tower they looked
back with a sense of thanks. It was a tower of magic that had brought them closer than
two souls could ever be. In the distance a voice began to sound.

Brock: Guys! Guys, where have you been I've been looking everywhere for you two.

Ash: Oh…sorry Brock. We kind of lost track.

Brock: Don't worry about it. We had better get going and find some rooms for the night.

Misty: Yeah, we still have a long road ahead of us.

Ash: And I know I can win with you by my side.

Misty: Oh Ash…I love you.

Ash: I love you too.

With deep smiles they gave each other a kiss.

Brock: WHOA! What happened?

Brock stood there and watched the scene unfold.

Brock: I was right…Wait…No way! This can't happen! Ash can't get a girlfriend
before me! Why!?

Pikachu and togepi laughed at Brocks apparent jealousy. All the while Ash and Misty
kissed with a great passion. A passion that is only felt when two souls are truly ment to
be.

Narrator: And so Ash and Misty continue their journey with a new bond. A bond no
longer of friendship, but one of true love.
