Articuno popped out of Misty's Pokéball! Misty hopped onto Articuno's back.

Misty: Just follow me!

Ash: Pidgeot, follow Articuno!

Pidgeot nodded as Ash hopped onto Pidgeot's back.

Meanwhile…

Joy: (sigh) Where is that boy?

Soon…

Ash: Hey, Misty!

Misty: Yeah?

Ash: Can we stop by the Viridian City Pokémon Center? I don't want Miss Joy to worry about me!

Misty: Sure.

Pidgeot & Articuno flew down to Viridian City. Ash then ran to the Pokémon Center.

Ash: Miss Joy!

Joy: Ash! I was worried!

Ash: Sorry.

Joy: Who's your friend?

Ash: Oh, Miss Joy, this is Misty.

Misty: Hi.

Ash: Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I'm going somewhere with Misty.

Joy: Where?

Ash: We're going to-

Misty cut him off.

Misty: That's a secret.

Ash: Uh…yeah.

Joy: Oh.

Joy: Don't be gone long!

Ash: I won't be! Bye, Miss Joy!

Joy: Bye, Ash! See you soon!

Articuno & Pidgeot flew off.

Joy: (sigh)

Misty: There they are! The Orange Islands!

Ash: Wow…

Ash looked down to see many large islands.

Ash: So this is the Orange Archipelago!

Misty: If I'm not mistaken, that island down there should be where Richie lives.

Ash: Okay, Pidgeot, take us down!

When Ash & Misty landed on the island, they started to look around for Richie's home.

Misty: Hmm…Huh?

Ash: All right! Pokémon Battles!

Misty: Hmm…

Ash: Wow! This is incredible!

Announcer: We are down to our final match! The newcomer, Richie, versus the master Dragon Tamer, Jake Tsunami!

Referee: This shall be a 3-on-3 Pokémon battle! Ready? Begin!

Jake: I start with Dragonair!

POOF!!

Richie: Okay! Go, Zippo!

POOF!!

Zippo: Charmeleon! (Okay!)

Jake: Dragonair, Thundershock!

Richie: Zippo, Agility!

Zippo: Char! (Right!)

Zippo started to dash around the arena.

Ash: Wow! I didn't know that Charmeleon knew that ability!

Richie: Zippo, finish it! Fire Blast!

A star-shaped flame came from Zippo's mouth and fried Dragonair!

Referee: Dragonair is unable to battle! Zippo wins the round!

Richie: All right! Zippo, return!

Jake: Your luck's about to run out! Go, Gyarados!

POOF!!

Gyarados: (roar)

Richie: Hmph! Go, Sparky!

POOF!!

Sparky: Pikachu! (Let's go!)

Jake: Gyarados, Hydro Pump!

Richie: Jump, Sparky!

Sparky jumped and dodged it.

Richie: Thunderbolt!

Sparky: Piiiii…kaaaaa…CHUUUUU!!!! (This…is…OVER!!!!)

Gyarados was shocked and fell.

Jake: (gasp)

Referee: Gyarados is unable to battle! Sparky wins the round!

Richie: Yes!!!

Jake: Now you've done it! Go…Dragonite!!

POOF!!

Richie: Okay, Sparky! Thunder Attack!

Dragonite just stood there.

Jake: Fly!!

Dragonite flew up and tackled Sparky.

Sparky: Pika!! (AAAHHHH!!)

Richie: Sparky!

Sparky struggled to get up but fell down again.

Richie: No!

Referee: Sparky is unable to battle! The round goes to Dragonite!

Richie picked up Sparky.

Richie: Sparky, are you okay?

Sparky: Pika…(Richie?)

Richie: Sparky!

Richie looked at Dragonite.

Richie: Hmm…Go, Steele!

Richie threw a Pokéball and out popped a Skarmory!

Richie: Steele, Iron Tail!

Steele flung its tail and Dragonite flew back.

Dragonite: Grrrrr…

Richie: Finish it with Steel Wing!

Steele dived down to Dragonite and struck it.

Referee: Dragonite is unable to battle! Richie is the winner!

Richie: Yay! All right!

Later…

Misty: Richie?

Richie: Who are you?

Misty: I am Misty Waterflower. This is Ash Ketchum. We were sent to bring you somewhere.

Richie: Where?

Misty: Take my hand!

Richie grabbed onto Misty's hand, and they all teleported.

Richie: Whoa!
