< You're playing right into my hands if you do this, > Serebii says, but Lance doesn't care, and he smiles, which makes the legendary cringe inwardly. That smile has never boded well, and the last time she saw Lance smiling so was when he swore to love Ash - Red - for eternity.
“Why does it bother you? I thought you liked it when your puppets were obedient?” Lance asks, and there's just a hint of madness in his eyes and tone. “It will not be difficult to do. Give me the Sacred Sword again.”
< If I do that, I will place the Shield in Charlotte's heart as well. > Serebii warns. < Is the choice not hers to make also? >
“Charlotte was always dutiful. She will not protest. After all, she can better protect him if she is one with the Shield, and shield him from danger.”
There is no argument she can make against that, so Serebii sighs, and Lance feels a trickle, a pooling of metal, as his bones become silversteel once again, and he knows, the moment he wishes it, the Sword will form and he will die.
The thought is very comforting.
He's going to love Ash - Red forever, but now, if Red has another, he won't have to stay around and watch and suffer in silence. He can complete his duty and then call the Sword, and there will be no blame.
Lance smiles, a long, slow smile that doesn't touch his eyes, and Serebii shivers.
