Hey, I actually got off my ass and did this chapter in less than a month!! In fact, it only took me
a day, but I was without computer for a week, sorry. And I just want everyone to know that this
may not be a Ranma/Usagi pairing. I haven't even introduced all the main characters
yet.....Although there is a new one in this chapter. If you're a fan of yuri you better speak up!
And so I don't get sued, I don't own Naruto.
By the way, read my story "How To Keep An Idiot Busy." It's short and it won't take
long to read, but I wanna know what you think. Pweeeease?!!!
Chapter 5 ----- Cherry Blossom
Dear Diary,
There's a nice market here in Fort Avernum. It's not big, but it has your basic shops. Food
shops, armor shops, weapon shops....If I had money to spare I'd stop by the clothes shop. This
shirt is itchy! And this skirt really doesn't go with my hair....
I suppose I'm lucky though. When I was walking earlier this little boy ran up and tugged
at my robe, begging for change. It just broke my heart!! I gave him two gold coins. I know I
should have only given him one, but there was another little beggar girl waiting for him a few
feet away. Hopefully, some barkeep will take pity on them and give them a warm meal and bed
in exchange for those coins. When Ranma and I get more money, I'm going to came back here
and find those children, and give them enough to last them a lifetime. If they're still here, that is.
It's still early I think, I can't really tell without the sun. Not much has happened today, except
for what I have dubbed "The Bar Incident"....
What the hell was his problem anyway!? He claims to know how to travel, but any
beginner knows to stock up on health supplies! And sown here, I'd bet they are even extra
important. His stupid pride always lead to argument!
But......Whatever. I think I'm gonna look around some more, so I'll write again later
today.

Type B Sorceress

Usagi closed her ink jar and cleaned off her quill. It had been nice, sitting in this small cafe,
even if she couldn't afford to buy anything.
She slipped her things back into her robe pockets and stood up to leave. She nodded to
some of the people she passed, but hardly any nodded back.
It was darker outside than it was inside. Usagi blinked her eyes a few times to let them adjust. It
was always dark and dreary here, and people's moods matched it. But Usagi wasn't going to let
that stop her exploration of this new world!
Smiling brightly at all who passed, she made her way in the direction she had yet to go.
Her worn out old boots made clickity-clack sounds on the stone street. She had to resist the urge
to start skipping and tap-dancing.{Not that she knew how to tap-dance}
After a few minuets of walking, she noticed that there were less and less people about,
and that all the shops she passed were closed down, The stone street ended, and she walked on
the dirt.
"Whoa, this must be the old part of the fort."
She glanced at the dilapidated buildings around her and saw strange colored eyes staring at her
from behind boarded up windows.
Usagi blinked, and they were done. She gigged nervously to herself and glanced around
again. It must have been her imagination....
The sudden sounds of struggle surprised her. She stumbled back a few steps and looked around,
eyes wide. The sound was coming from down the street in front of her, in one of the alleys. A
high-pitched scream emitted from the alley, and Usagi had to hold back a scream of her own, she
was so startled.
"Help!!"
Usagi bit her lip, narrowed her eyes, and took off running towards the alley. She wasn't stupid,
she knew what was going on. And there was no way she was just going to stand around while it
happened!
Pulling her wand out of her pocket just as she slid into the alley, she shouted the first
spell that came to mind.
"Venapymm!!"
A huge fireball shot out of the tip of her wand. It hit a ragged, hairy man in his side and sent him
flying to the wall at the end of the alley, where he slid to the floor unconscious and badly
bleeding.
Usagi felt a little sorry for hurting him so bad, but it all vanished when she was his
victim. A girl around Usagi's age {Maybe a little younger} sat sobbing on the ground. Her pink
hair was completely messed up, and on the floor next to her were strips of sloth that matched the
color of her oriental style dress. Usagi knew the man must have ripped the dress, and she prayed
to the goddesses that it hadn't gotten any farther than that.
The girl continued sobbing into her hands, even as Usagi knelt next to her. Usagi
reached out and placed her hand on the girls shoulder," Shhh....It's okay now. He can't hurt
you."
The girl jerked away from her and her soft green eyes darted to the other end of the alley,
and then to Usagi. Usagi smiled gently, trying to see if the girl had been harmed," Let me see if
you----"
She was interrupted when the girl through herself at Usagi and burst into tears against
Usagi's shoulder. Usagi gasped in surprise and frowned. The girl was a total wreck.
Usagi wrapped an arm around the girl's waist and pulled her up so she was sitting in
Usagi's lap. The girl through her arms around Usagi's neck and buried her head further into
Usagi's shoulder. Usagi moved a hand to rub circles soothingly on the girl's back, while the
other began to pet the pink hair on her head softly. Usagi's eyes too began to fill with tears. It
was a sad site indeed.
Who knows how long they sat like that, in the dark and dirty alley, before the pink haired
girl's sobs stopped. She sniffed pathetically a few times before leaning back and looking at her
savior. The green of grassy hills met the blue of prairie skies.
Usagi smiled sweetly, both hands now securely on the girls waist so she wouldn't fall
back," Are you okay?" The girl smiled back sadly," You came just in time. H-He almost...."
The girl tried to blink back another onslaught of tears, a sob in her throat. Usagi brought
forward one of her hands and ran the tips of her fingers over the girl's cheek, "Hey, no need to
cry. You're safe now....My name's Usagi."
The girl sniffed and the tears went away," I-I'm Sakura...Thanks....For saving me."
Usagi grinned and continued stroking the smaller girl's cheek, " Don't worry about it! Now
come one! Hanging around here won't do us any good!"
Sakura smiled again, more happily now, and nodded. Usagi helped her up and then stood
up herself. Her legs were a little sore, but she was ok Looking at her new friend though, she
realized they had a problem. Sakura's oriental red dress no longer had a front on most of the top
part. Her undershirt hid everything, but it left little to the imagination.
Sakura too had realized this, and was blushing. She bit her lip," Ummm, What do we do
now? If I walk around like this..."
Thinking quickly, Usagi shrugged off her robe and handed it to Sakura," Here. You can
wear this. It buttons at the top."
Sakura put it on a buttoned it. She twirled around and giggled. It was so comfortable!!
Usagi watched her, amused," It was a birthday gift from a friend, a few years ago," she
explained.
Sakura stopped and looked worried," It's really nice but.....What if I mess it up?"
"Don't worry, Saku-chan! I still have the clothes I was wearing when I was sent down, and
since we're almost the same size, you can wear them! I might have to pin them back a bit
though."
"Oh! Thank you so much, Usagi-san!"
"HaHa, don't mention it! And just call me Usagi-chan! Let's go back to the other part
of the fort. I'll give you some cloths, and you can meet my friend Ranma! He'll love you!"
And so the two walked onward, almost complete strangers but already best friends.
Usagi was a hero in Sakura's eyes, and an affection that Usagi hadn't felt in years had come
forth for the pink haired girl.

The character introduced in this chapter was Haruna Sakura from Naruto. In this fic she's
Sakura Syllan. I'm not very good at portraying her character, so if anyone has a hint, I'd love to
hear it.
I'm planning on their relationship to be like big sister/ little sister. Unless you yuri fans want it
differently.....
And remember, if you have a favorite anime or video game, or whatever character, just
tell me and I'll put them in. Some of them might become main characters, others could just be
detail characters that make a chapter appearance. You won't find out unless you speak up!!
