The valley was surrealistically serene, the light mist and quiet forest giving
it a strange dream-like quality. Looking out over the valley from some mountain
perch would make one smile unconsciously and bring forth long forgotten
memories of times past, of picnics with parents, and of days not-so wasted
spent sitting in the arms of lovers.

Waking up to this magnificent view would take the breath of any man, no matter
how much stone their heart was made of. Genma sighed as he stood next to his
son, looking over the valley.

"Today is the perfect day for training. A day where the day reflects the
perfection of the Art, boy." With another sigh of content, Genma gazed down at
his son with a soft smile...

...And woke him up with a boot to the head that sent him flying off the cliff
they had camped on the night before.

"DAAMMMNNNN YYYOOOUU OOYYYAAAJJIII!!!!"

Needless to say, the local wildlife was confused as hell.

==========

"Quit your complaining boy! It makes me think my DAUGTHER is walking beside
me."

"Yeah, and you look pregnant, you old fat ass..." he shot back.

"WHY YOU LITTLE!!" hollered Genma as he grabbed his son by the throat and
choked him in an attempt to silence the insolent boy. Besides, he wasn't fat...
He was just big boned... Really, that was all it was...

"ACK!" With that strangled battle cry, Ranma grabbed his father's meaty wrist
for leverage and sent a snap kick into Genma's jaw... Which was cushioned and
thus only stunned Genma momentarily instead of shattering the jaw.

After wrenching himself out of Genma's grasp, he crouched and swept the legs
from the older man.

"Oh! You should be more careful... Wouldn't want my baby sister to end up as
big a retard as you!" laughed Ranma as he backpedaled away from Genma's strike
range.

"AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGHH!!" was the inarticulate response as Genma continued to
chase down his son.

Ranma laughed the whole time; not bothering to look behind him as his father
mentally smirked and herded him towards a little man ahead.

'You may be quick boy, but what happens when you trip?'

==========

Ranma was enjoying having successfully needled his father and allowed his mirth
to block out the world. His mind panicked as he heard startled gibbering behind
him. He shot a quick glance over shoulder and saw the little man he was on a
collision course with.

His reflexes took over as he searched for a way to avoid hitting the little
man, and made him leap onto one of the poles above a bunch of springs.

"Hey you stupid old man! What's the big idea getting him involved in this!?!"
yelled Ranma as he glared at his father.

"A true Martial Artist is aware of his surroundings and looks for anyway he can
use it to his advantage!" berated Genma as he leaped up to meet his son on the
poles.

"Sirs! What you doing?! Very bad to fight here!!" screamed the little man in
horror... Only to be ignored, of course.

Genma rebounded off of the pole he chose as his landing spot and flowed into a
spinning heel kick. Ranma cross blocked the kick and retaliated with a crescent
kick to his fathers shoulder. Which sent him cart wheeling straight down...
Into the pool of water at the base of Ranma's perch.

For a few seconds, Ranma smirked in triumph as silence flowed over the springs
once more. Only to be ripped away by the animalistic rage of a black and white
blur that burst forth from the spring. Ranma kept his smirk as he back flipped
towards another pole as the form landed on his previous perch...

... Only to completely miss his landing as he stared in shock at the Panda as
it settled on his abandoned perch. As he missed his landing and slammed into
the water, he idly wondered just HOW much a bamboo pole could bend before it
broke.

==========

Genma watched in shame as his son missed his landing and belly flopped into the
water. He threw his arms up and was about to lament having such a worthless
son, just as the pole snapped from the weight shift that his movement caused.

He lay staring in horror as his son broke the surface of the pool. And almost
fainted when Ranma screamed.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?! WHERE'S MY POP!?" the red head shrilly screeched at
the guide, panda, and world in general.

Genma winced at the pitch of the scream and replied to the girl, "Gwrof! Growf
roufh!" 'Eh? Wait a minute... What the hell happened to my voice?'

"Sirs! I say it very bad you fight here! You no listen! Now you take body of
Panda and Girl!" worriedly explained the guide.

The red head snapped to face him, and he stumbled back from the look of horror
and rage on her face. "G-girl... Then that's p-pop?" Mutely, the guide nodded
and backed away from the glint in her eyes.

The Panda, so caught up in staring at his reflection in the spring, didn't
notice his new daughter, ever so slowly, turning to glare at him. They say,
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," and thanks to Ranma's ungodly level
of adaptability, she managed to master proof of this in 3.2 seconds.

==========

'Ohgodohgodohgod...' ran through Genma's mind as he fled from the bamboo
wielding red head, whose eyes currently matched her hair.

"GET BACK HERE YOU FAT ASS PIECE OF SHIT!!" raged the pissed off red head.

Genma's thoughts degraded into gibberish as his son-turned-daughter screamed
out just WHAT and WHERE she was planning for the pole she currently wielded.
His panic was such that he didn't notice the momentary silence that followed
until an explosion shattered it.

==========

Ranma's mind was so focused on vengeance that she didn't note the spring her
father leaped over until she stepped in it. As her foot entered the water, her
body went rigid and all light left her eyes as her mind fluttered away...

==========

Ranma stumbled forward as his body not only shifted balance, but seemed to get
lighter as well. As he recovered his balance, the first thing he did was
hesitantly look down at his body, wondering what he turned into this time.

"HELL YEAH!" was the excited scream as he patted himself down with tears of joy
in his eyes. He was his old self again. He was understandably startled as a
soft voice spoke behind him...

Understandably being jumping 30 feet into the air from shock.

"AARRGGHH!!" he landed in a half defensive crouch with a hand over his heart.
"DON'T DO THAT!"

A redhead stood in front of him with a surprised expression. She'd never seen
anyone jump that high before. She realized he must not have heard her first
question, by his reaction so she repeated herself. In Japanese this time
though, since if his statement was any indication, that was his standard
language. She was thankful she was familiar with the language at least since he
must be one of those wandering martial artist types that showed up from time to
time in the area. Well, the area she was used to in any case. She had no idea
where she was at right now and maybe this guy knew.

"I'm very sorry for startling you, but could you do me the favor of telling me
who you are? And where are we for that matter?" the short red head asked as she
nervously glanced around their surroundings, a completely white spacious area
that few, including themselves, would know to be a mind scape.

"Uhh... I'm Saotome Ranma, heir to the Saotome School of Anything Goes Martial
Arts... The last thing I knew, I was chasing my pop through some place with a
lot of springs and bamboo poles..."

At this, the girl got a wide-eyed look of horror on her face. "Oh no! You must
mean Jusenkyo! Why would you be running through the springs?! You could have
gotten--"

She was cut off as Ranma saw a flash of bright yellow from the corner of his
eye and dove to knock her out of its path. The girl was so startled by his
sudden movement that she shrieked and fell on to her butt. Ranma, not able to stop his dive in mid air,
kept moving forward as he made his dive... And slid through her.

Scant seconds after the contact was made, both sat stunned on the ground, their
backs staring at each other. Little time was given for them to question what
had happened as their bodies jerked as one and visions of the other's life
flashed through their minds.

Ranma sat with a faint smile as images and memories of a young girl walking
through the springs, hand in hand with her father flashed through his mind.
Brief flashes of attempts to cheer up newly cursed victims with smiles and hugs
flew behind his eyes as he came to know the girl's life and dreams.

She sat, awed and horrified as she saw the life and memories of a young boy.
Being taken from his mother, being forced from the few friends he had in favor
of the torture his father regarded as training. Tears welled in her eyes as she
saw the Neko-ken, as she saw the beatings and insults he received for failing
to do learn something by the second attempt. She was awed by the boy's
strength, by his indomitable spirit and honor. Her heart warmed as she learned
of his dreams and hopes.

She jerkily turned to smile at him, but was flung away even as an orb of yellow
light, the self-same orb he had only moments ago saved her from and had gone
past them, exploded and its energies hammered into him. Using reflexes and
instincts absorbed from their contact, she rolled with the explosion and
scanned the area for their attacker.

Her eyes widened in shock as she stared at the massively muscled figure
hovering a few feet off the ground. He was glowing a bright yellow and had a
sneer of pure hate on his face as the light around him gathered into his hands.
She looked to where he was glaring and watched as the blasted and broken frame
of Ranma slowly started to rise.

==========

Ranma was blasted out of his mental daze as the explosive blast slammed into
him. He almost passed out from the shock, pain, and searing heat of the orb. He
rolled in agony as parts of his flesh were ripped off from the explosion and
liquefied from the heat as his bones snapped from the impact.

'Can't give... an easy... target...' he told himself. Forcing his body to
slowly stand, he looked at the man who had attacked him.

His eyes widened first in surprise as the figure floated above the ground, then
in horror as another ball of light formed in his hands.

==========

All knew the next attack would finish Ranma, but only one wasn't prepared to
let it happen. Relying on the skills she gained from Ranma, the red head bolts
towards his prone form, hoping that she'll be in time to absorb the attack.

Ranma turned to face her as she rushed towards him and gaped in shock as he
realized what she's trying to do. As she neared him, he shook off the shock and
dodged her dive, letting her sail past him to safety as the blast missed them
both and exploded into the ground. Ranma shielded her prone body from the
explosion and was thrown over and past her.

She watched as Ranma arced his way through the air to land between her and the
monster. Her eyes narrow in rage at the man who attacked them without reason as
she sprung to her feet and charged him.

==========

'How DARE these insects continue to defy me?! The weak have no right to live
wherever I exist!' the monkey tailed being raged to himself. 'This has gone on
long enough! THEY DIE *NOW*!'

"KNOW THE RAGE OF THE GRATEST SAIYAJIN TO EVER EXIST! DIE!!" he screamed as he
changed tactics. 'If using to little power won't work.. USE ALL YOUR POWER!' he
mentally ranted as he poured all his power into the attack he was gathering to
blast the humans with.

He almost lost control of the blast as, unbelievably, the red haired insect
rushed him. He realized his mistake at writing the girl off as a non-combatant,
but was confident that a mere slip of a girl couldn't harm him even if she did
land a blow. He smirked as he decided to play with the girl and show her how
weak she was... He allowed her kick to land... And knew nothing more as he lost
control of his Ki.

=========

Genma was sent flying face first into a boulder, embedding his head into the
rock. He hung limply for a moment before prying his head out of the stone and
dropped to the ground... Only to have his crotch intercepted by the bamboo pole
his son had previously threatened him with... After a four foot fall, of
course.

As he lay on the ground, his vision swimming with flecks of light and spots, he
saw his son roughly land on the ground. As he recovered, he noticed his son had
massive bruises and a dislocated shoulder.

"what the hell was that?" Genma mumbled to himself, staring at the steaming
crater in the ground. He shook himself back to his senses and checked on his
son. As he turned his son over, he found Ranma cradling a red head in his
arms... a red head that was almost identical to the one who'd replaced his son
and attacked him. However, it was just slightly longer and more muscular, and
what was more, something even someone as dense as he would notice, a furry
brown tail coiled around his son's protective hand.

He heard shuffling behind him and whirled into a defensive stance.

"Uhhmm.. Sir? Perhaps we take them to my home? Yes?" questioned the guide.

"Growf!" responded Genma as he picked up his son, blinking momentarily as he
remembered his own curse. Grumbling, he continued on to the guides hut while
leaving the guide to transport the smaller girl even as he began to go deep
into thought. 'Did this mean there was a cure for the curse? After all, the boy
seemed to have found one... and what does it have to do with that girl?'
