Ranma's Comedy of Errors

Hey there peeps. This is my first Ranma fic, and I felt like I had to write this becuz the relationships that I
am writing about need to be here, and I have always felt like they were, but Rumiko never came out and said
it. So people do get together, and if you don't like who I put together too bad, that's the way it's gonna be
(sorry j/k) This takes place more in the future like when Akane and Ranma are seniors. My favorite female
character (Nabiki) is featured in this one. I feel that her persona, and love interests are too vague. So I took
the liberty of expanding on them. This fic should be classified as a romantic comedy, so if you're not into it
then this might not be for you. These characters belong to Rumiko Takahashi, and please don't sue me, I
spend all the money I make on buying her comics, and movies, and other anime stuff. . . . don't take that
away from me. Anyways here's the fic.

Nabiki Tendo silently crept out of her father's Dojo into the crisp night air. Suddenly warm arms
wrapped around her, and she snuggled into them.
"I wasn't sure if you were going to come." The deep voice whispered.
"I didn't mean to be late, Akane and Ranma were up fighting until almost eleven, I couldn't take a
chance of them not finding me in my bed. . . . . and in yours."
"Fear not my love, our secret is safe between us. For love shall not abandon us, dear Nabiki." He
spoke elequently.
"I really hope you're right."
___________________________________________

It was a beautiful spring day outside, and Akane couldn't help but just want to giggle at the
gorgious cherry blossoms everywhere. Soon her and Ranma were going to graduate, and the marriage issue
had still been left alone since he and his father had first showed up at their door step.
"Ranma, have you noticed anything different lately?" Akane inquired.
"Whadda ya mean Akane?" Ranma wondered back.
"Kuno. He hasn't bothered me in the past month or so. He barely agknowleges me anymore. Just
a nod of the head, and that's it."
"Well, then be happy. You act like you miss the attention or something. Besides, he graduated last
year, did you really think he'd keep stalking you?" He retorted.
"Geez Ranma, you always twist my words. Can't you just nod and listen to what I have to say for
once. You don't even have to listen, just act like you are." She quickened her pace and walked ahead of him
angrily. She tried to hold back the tears welling in her eyes. "You really don't like me at all do you? Not
even as a friend. Cause if you did, then. . . ."
"Then what?" Ranma stated sarcastically.
"Nothing. . . . ." She burst into tears, and ran all the way home, not looking back once. If she had
she would have seen one heart-broken boy standing there where she'd left him.

"Nabiki, I can't keep this secret any longer. I want to shout out to the whole world that I love you,
and that I want to be with you forever. I can't show my affection towards you in public, and that upsets me
because I want to be with you so badly." Her lover confided.
"I know, but you have to wait."
"Until when?" He pressured her.
"Until Akane and Ranma get married." She sighed.
"WHAT!? You know that's not gonna happen." He accused her.
"My father said that the first man to marry one of his daughters would inheirit the dojo. I can be
sneeky, but I know that Ranma has his heart set on it. And I also know that he's madly in love with Akane,
but he lets his pride get in the way. Just like you almost did. I know that you want to be with a woman who
is a martial artist. And that you then want her to settle down, and take care of your children. You do realize
that's not gonna happen. I don't like martial arts. If you want to do them, that's fine, I won't object. But I
refuse to simply settle down and bear you children, and leave it at that. I wanna go to college, get an
education, be a lawyer or a politician, or something. You didn't plan on me being a house wife for the rest
of my life did you?"
"Tis true my love, I did want a simple house wife who would give me children, and follow my
commands. But you were different. You never listen to me, and you could care less about my interests.
That's why I like you though. You were the first woman to stand up to me. And I would rather have a
lawyer as a wife than some one who doesn't do anything all day but sewing and cooking to keep herself
busy." (Sorry Kasumi, I didn't mean that to be a bash.)
"Well why should I listen to you? Sometimes you have the stupidest things to say. It really makes
me wonder if your parents didn't bribe your teachers to let you graduate last year."
"Yeah well. . ."
"And you never have good come-backs-" He took her into his hold.
"Now, now Nabiki, you may be a bit smarter than me in some respects, but I am stronger, and
that's something you can't deny."
"That's the only thing I will admit." She giggled.
"Fine with me." He kissed her on the tip of her nose and let her go. "Can I at least go to your
father, and ask him if I can marry you?"
"Well. . ." Nabiki was unsure.
"Maybe if Ranma finds out that his position is being threatened he'll hurry up with Akane."
"He just might. . . let me go to Ranma's father first." Nabiki gave one of her infamous grins.
"My dear, are you pondering up some elborate scheme to get them together?"
"For some one with your intelligence you sure do know me well enough."
"Hey, well you. . . you. . ."
"Oh shut up, I'll have to write some retorts down for you, and then you won't sound as stupid
when you mumble after I've insulted you."
"Anything you think is best."
"Come on." She beckoned him. "We have things do."
"Coming darling." He cought up to her, and grabbed her hand.
___________________________________________

"Okay, you wait outside, and if anybody sees you pretend that you're lost or something. Just play
dumb, that shouldn't be too much trouble. If I find out that you're causing trouble, you'll have to answer to
me. Belive me I could punish you in ways you can't even imagine."
"Will you go already, I'll hide in the bushes okay, now go."
"Alright. . ." She stated relucktantly. She slid the wooden door open to her unfamiliar home. She
walked down the corridor to the porch on the otherside of the house to find her father and Mr. Saotome in
panda form playing 'Go', and fighting as usual.
"Mr. Saotome, can I speak with you a moment."
"Trust me Nabiki, you don't want to talk with this foul panda." Her father glared at her.
"I'll take my chances." Nabiki grabbed a tuft of fur and dragged him inside to the guest bedroom.
"Allow me to make this easier for both of us." Nabiki pulled a hot water kettle from the astro plane and
poured it on him. "Now, Mr. Saotome, I thought it best to come to you. I'm concerned about Ranma and
Akane's non-exsitent relationship. See, their school careers are almost over, and if you seriously want them
to get together, then maybe you should push them a bit harder."
"I don't see what the rush is, I don't want to force them in to something they're not ready for."
"I don't think you understand what I'm saying-"
"I understand perfectly well. They'll get married when they're good and ready." He smiled dumbly.
Nabiki sweatdropped. "Listen ya ol' fool-"
"Oh hey Nabiki." Ranma greeted ignorantly. "What's all the yellin' for?"
"Would you please leave, I'm trying to speak with your father."
"Fine." He scoffed, "Oh," he stuck his back in the door, "Do you know why Kuno is hiding in the
bushes outside? I asked him why he was there, and he told me to go away, and not to tell you that I saw
him." He wondered.
"I don't know Ranma. Maybe he's just looking for *pig-tailed girl* around or somethin'." Her
twitching eyes did all the talking for her.
"Oh." He took off down the hall.
"Mr. Saotome, I have been seeing a man for a while, and my father doesn't know it. Today he
asked for my hand, and I want to say yes. You do realize of coarse that if we marry before Akane and
Ranma then he will receive the Dojo."
"He will!?" He rubbed his brow, "Nabiki, thank you for coming to me first, Akane and Ranma will
be married within the next week."
Her eyes shot up in disbelief, "Well, it doesn't have to be that soon, but thank you." She went to
leave, then turned back around, "Can I tell my father then, and trust that you'll get them hitched before I get
married?" She looked him square in the eyes.
"Yes, Nabiki."
"Good." She walked out of the room, and out of the house, over to some rustling bushes. "Kuno
baby, what am I gonna do with you?" His terror filled eyes peeked out from the foliage.
"Well?" He questioned, regarding as to how it went.
"People are going to think that I'm marrying you for your money, cuz you're just not bright at all."
She scolded him. But couldn't stay mad at him because he jumped out of the bushes and hugged her.
"I knew you'd work everything out my love." He took a deep breath, and smelled her in.
"I talked with Ranma." She looked up at him. "What were you doing in that bush that he was able
to find you?"
"I forgot to tell you that I'm allergic to those kind of bushes, I started to sneeze, and then he saw
me trying to move to another bush."
She laughed at his misfortune, "Baka, well, we can talk with my father tomorrow."
___________________________________________

"I can't believe what you're saying!" Ranma screamed at his father. "What do you want me ta do?!
RAPE HER OR SOMETHIN?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" They were located in their room.
"What, you don't think she'd consimate the ingagement willingly." Soun Saotome pondered.
"Pop, there is no way I am gettin' in her bed. She'd kill me. We've never even kissed before!"
"Well then maybe you should." He encouraged.
"Oh for gods sake, you seriously don't think that she'd see right through it."
"Well, maybe if you don't let her."
"We'll see." He smiled at himself, he really did like Akane. There were so many times that he'd
come so close to holding her hand, or kissing her, or telling her that he was in love with her. Now was his
chance to have an excuse! "We sure will see." He smirked.
___________________________________________

Ranma shook Akane lightly during the very early hours of the morning. The darkness shrouded her
vision of the man before her. She went to scream but found his hand over her mouth.
"Hey Akane, it's just me; Ranma. I know it's late, but please don't scream." His voice was sweet,
and calming. Just then he moved his hand back down to his side.
She rolled over to her side to face him, and try to see him. Which proved to be diffucult on the
moonless night. "Ranma, what are you doing in here?" She searched her head for an answer.
"I wanted to show you something. Will you come with me?" Though there was lack of light she
still deteckted his warm smile. He helped her get out of bed. His hand grabbed hers to lead her to their
unseen destination. The warmth of his hand on her skin cut through the chilled night air. It made her wish
that he would hold her. She wondered, if his hand was this warm, then would his embrace melt her? He
silently led her up to the roof, and they sat down. He wrapped his arm around her. "Sorry to wake you, I
know it's cold, but I heard there was supposed to be a meteor shower tonight. There was something I
needed to wish off the falling stars, and I though maybe you wanted something too." He looked right into
her eyes, and now she could see him. Though the moon was gone, she could see something in his eyes.
Something sparked inside her, "What did you want to wish?" She whispered.
"I can't tell you, or it won't come true. And if the stars won't help me, then I don't know what I'm
going to do." He looked up at them longingly.
"Maybe if you tell me I can help." She offered.
"I should, but. . . If I tell you, it could change a lot of things between us." His tone was worrisome.
Her heart skipped a beat, could it be that he, no, not Ranma he would never. Would he? "Just
whisper it to me, and if you want me to forget what you told me. . . . You need do nothing more than say
so. You can always trust me Ranma."
"I know I can trust you Akane, I'm just afraid." He confided.
'This must be really big if Ranma's afraid of it!' She thought to herself, "You can trust me Ranma."
She snuggled closer to him.
His arms went tight around her body, elgulfing her small figure in his depths. "I'm in love with you
Akane." He whispered in her ear.
The words shattered her train of thought. Had he acctually just confessed to being in love with
her? She had to say something back, but what words could answer that? She looked up to him, tears
brimming in her eyes, and kissed him. Their first kiss, Akane's first kiss. She had secretly wanted it to be
with him. They stayed like that for a long while. Kissing in each others hold. Both were so insecure, so
much that they needed each other. Slowly and relucktantly they broke away from each others mouth. "I
love you too Ranma." She breathed.
"Oh Akane. . . ." He hugged her firmly, not wanting to ever let go. "I want to shout out to the
whole world that you're mine, but I can't. Nobody can know about us."
"Why not?" She was confused.
"My greatest fear in life is that. . ." He paused, he trusted Akane, but he had never told anybody
this before.
"I won't tell anyone Ranma." She whispered convincingly.
"My greatest fear in life is that someone is going to hurt you. If people found out that we really are
a couple, and that I acted on our marriage agreement, god knows what they'd do. I mean the last thing I
want is for Ukyo, or Kodachi, or heaven forbid Shampoo in a rampage after you. Shampoo could really do
some serious damage, and I know that you could take her on," Akane laughed at his obvious attempt of a
compliment. "But if something happened, I'd never forgive myself."
"Maybe there is a way that we can eliminate that." She smiled at him. "If you're willing to loose a
battle or two."
"Loose a battle, Akane!? You mean a lot to me, but that's a lot to ask."
"Even if it could get Ukyo, Kodachi, Shampoo, Mousse, Ryouga, and all those stupid guys that
chase me off your back?"
"Well. . ." He winced.
"It's way too late out, I'll tell you my plan in the morning, but in the mean time, I promise you that
I won't tell anybody about us." She moved a bit away from him, to get up.
"Akane. . .?" He touched her arm.
"Yes?" She responded kindly.
"Do you think I can sleep in your room for the rest of the night, I'll be gone by morning I promise.
And no sleep hugging, no sirie." He tried to make up an excuse, "Cuz my pop's in panda form, and he
snores really bad, and-"
"Just admit that you're lonely, and you're welcome in my bed as long as my father doesn't find
out." She smiled testing her power over him.
"I do get lonely." He lowered his head in sadness.
"Alright, and you better not break that sleep hugging promise." She laughed.
"No prob!" He smiled back as they descended from the roof of the Tendo Dojo.

The usual amount of guys that wanted to battle Akane waited patiently for her arrival at school the
week before school would end for the summer. They talked amongst themselves until she showed up at the
school's front gates. They all swarmed around her to meet her. Some backed away noticing that her fiance
Ranma Saotome was close at hand.
"Hello boys." She smiled, "Boy have a got a deal for you! I know that every morning, and every
afternoon you come out here, hoping to find me, and defeat me so that you can date me. But this has got to
stop for two reasons. First off, I'm not that great of a catch, I mean I can't even cook! Secondly, cuz
there's other girls out there that you'd be better of a match with. One in particular, I was thinking of."
"Who?" One of the guys dangerously ventured.
"I'm glad you asked!" Akane shouted happily. "Now at first you might be turned off, but I dare
you to stay, and hear what I have to say. The girl is Kodachi Kuno, and before you leave let me tell you a
little bit about her. She's a wonderful cook, she is fully trained in the art of artistic martial arts, and if that
isn't enought for you, besides her good looks, her parents are rich. And her brother who graduated two
years ago, whom you were all afraid of isn't around anymore. What more do you want?"
All of their faces seemed to be filled with delight. Akane smiled as they all stampeded into the
school with hoots and hollars of how Kodachi Kuno was the one for them. Ranma gave Akane a high-five,
and escorted her into the school.
"Two problems down, four to go." Ranma whispered to Akane in class. "How do you plan to get
rid of the others?"
"You'll see." She smiled cleverly.
___________________________________________

"How can you do this to me Akane?! I mean, I have a thing called pride--"
"Yeah, a little too much of it! You told me last weekend up on the roof that--"
"I know what I said." He stopped her. They both were lying on Akane's bed around midnight;
trying to figure out how to get Ryoga, Shampoo, Mousse, and Ukyo away from them. Or at least how to
stop them from liking them so much, or hating them, being the case for some.
"You should know how Shampoo can be! And you don't need Mousse following you everywhere
either. Besides, if you do what I tell you to, you can sleep in my room again." She offered.
"You promise." He asked seriously, she nodded, and smiled. "Okay, but why don't you tell me
later. I haven't gotten enough time alone with you, so just tell me what I need to do in the morning." He
sat up and moved close to her.
She leaned in as his strong hands stroked her face, and then; there was his mouth. And everything
blured. Akane wondered how she could resist the temptation. She gave in to his charms realizing that her
thoughts were futile, and unnecessary.
___________________________________________

"Colo gne, I was wondering if I could steal Mousse for just a second." Akane asked sweetly.
"I guess, but, don't be too long." She mumbled, then went back to her work.
Akane grabbed Mousse's arm and led him outside. "Mousse, Ranma wants to fight you for
Shampoo. If you beat him, he figures that you don't even have to fight Shampoo, cause that proves that
you're stronger than her. He would like this settled for once and for all. Tomorrow, dusk, in the park
across from the school. Okay?"
"The Master of Hidden Weaponry will be there Akane Tendo!" Mousse smiled and ran back inside.
"Don't tell anyone Mousse!" She yelled inside before wondering around the corner to Ranma's
arms. "Everything's set Ranma, now you just have to throw the match." He winced.
"The things I'd do for love." He grinned, and kissed her passionatly. Not knowing that somone
was spying on them from a distance.
*
"I wanna see what's happening." Kuno whined.
Nabiki swatted her arm at him, "No, hold on, I think they're, oh, yes they are." She handed him the
binaculars. And smiled at her handy work.
"Ewwwww!" Kuno dropped the binaculars, "You could have just told me!" He yelled at her.
"Keep your voice down Kuno baby, isn't it romantic. And it's all because of us. Oh Kuno, isn't
love such a wonderful thing?" She swooned, "Omigod, what am I saying?! Must have gotten swept up in
the moment."
"I recall a few times where that's happened with me." He smiled at her and moved in to kiss her.
___________________________________________

The next day came a bit too fast for Ranma, and soon it was dusk. Akane and Ranma held hands as
they walked to the park. Once there, Akane was surprised to see that Mousse had kept his promise of not
telling any one. Though Ranma could have sworn he saw some purple hair in a tree.
"Now this ends Ranma Saotome." Mousse proclaimed.
Akane stepped out. I will be the sole witness, and referee. "Winner takes all, which in this case is
Shampoo. Good luck to you both, when you are ready bow to each other to begin the fight."
Akane stepped away, as they bowed ceremoniously to each other, and started the fight. Every time
Ranma threw a kick or punch she winced, as well as when he got hit. As soon as it seemed that the match
was decided, to Ranma, he ever so slowly started to decline in his fighting power, he sure did know how to
throw a match. And Boom, it was over, what seemed like an eternity took only 20 minutes, and Ranma had
lost to Mousse.
Akane ran over to Ranma, "Are you okay?" She lifted his head slightly, and he winked at her.
Mousse fell to his knees in awe, "Akane, did I win Shampoo?"
Akane looked back over her shoulder to Mousse, "Yes, Mousse, you won Shampoo." Then
returned to Ranma.
Shampoo then darted out to Mousse, "You okay Moussey?" she helped him up.
"Yeah." He was still in awe of what had happened.
They got up to walk away, but Shampoo stopped and turned around to Akane and Ranma.
"Shampoo sorry things did not work between Shampoo and Ranma. Shampoo hope that Ranma and Akane
will be as happy as Shampoo and Moussey will be." When Akane last glimpsed at them as they walked into
the fading light Mousse swung his arm over Shampoo's shoulder, and she snuggled in next to him.
"All that's left is Ryouga and Ukyo, saved the best for last."
"You better have a really good plan, they're not going to go away that easily."
"Don't I always have a plan Ran-chan. . ." Ranma smiled and kissed her cheek as she helped him up
to start their walk home.
___________________________________________

"A note from Ran-chan!? He wants to meet me for dinner. . . . I knew this day would come." She
rushed over to her closet to dig out a dress she had bought for just this occasion.
*
"Hmm, a note from Akane." Ryouga opened it, "Akane must finally want to reveal her feelings to
me." Ryouga ran through the streets of Tokyo, hoping he could make it home in time to find something
suitable to wear that night.
*
"Everything's set, now we just sit back and watch the magic happen." Akane grinned at Ranma.
"Are we going to go check up on them?" Ranma asked.
"Of course, just to make sure you know." Akane wrapped her arms around Ranma and appreciated
for the first time, how strong he really was.
___________________________________________

"Another note? Wonder what it says?" Ukyo opened the note:

Dear Ukyo,
We're really good friends, and I still want it to be that way,
but I love my fiancé Akane, and I think things would be better this way.
I cannot make up for the things my father did to you in the past, but
I'm still here if you need me. A guy should show up sometime, and I
think you two will get along really good, so have a good time, and
don't worry about me.
Ranma

Tears were welding in Ukyo's eyes. She had known for a long time that this was inevitable, but she
just wasn't prepared for anything like this to happen like this. A man escorted her over to a table and said
that the man would be there shortly.
*
"Yet another note, my love Akane is wonderful." he read on, and decided to change his mind.

Dear Ryouga,
I know this might be a bit hard for you, but I have heard of the
feelings you have for me. While I appreciate your admiration, I cannot
return it. I am in love with my fiancé, and I ask that you not fight with
him anymore. There is a woman waiting at a table for you. Ranma
and I are paying for both of your bills, and we hope you two really hit
it off. I'm sorry, I hope this doesn't ruin any chance of friendship there
might have been left.
Akane

Ryouga was to say the least a bit bewildered, but at the same time speechless. He was lead over to
a table, and sat facing Ukyo. "Let me guess, Ranma stood you up?" He asked.
"Yep, and Akane?"
"Well, I think if they're paying for our meals the least we can do is prove that we're more than
happy to take advantage of their disposition." They both laughed.
*
Outside Ranma and Akane felt happy thinking that they had hooked the two up, not that they were
being cheated out of their money.
___________________________________________

"I do."
"I do."
"I do."
"I do."
The double ceremony went off without a hitch. Everyone held their breath when the priest said: "If
anyone here wishes to object to this, speak now or forever hold your peace. . ." yata yata, you know the
drill, but not one person spoke up!
Nabiki moved in with Kuno, and they are both attending law school. . . though Kuno sometimes
needs well, a lot of help from Nabiki. Ranma and Akane inherited the Dojo, and are still married. As for
Kodachi, Moussey, Shampoo, Ryouga, and Ukyo; they're all doing just great. . . especially Ryouga and
Ukyo, but that's another story.
*

The End
