One night

after a particularly long good-bye,
we sat for a moment,
in my driveway.

Our bodies warmed by the others', the cold outside
unable to reach us.

He kissed my fingertips, nipped at my earlobe.
Made me smile, laugh, feel beautiful.
His hands dropped to my shirt, his fingers cold against my bare skin.

I told him, “Not now,”
and he said yes, I need you.
I insisted, “I have to go, Seth, my parents wanted me home fifteen minutes ago.”

Pulling back, preparing to leave, my fingers curling around the handle.
Fingers, fingers which had so gently caressed me was it seconds ago? clamped around my upper arm.
Firmly. Painfully.
Definitley painful.

He yanked, firecily, pulled me back to him.
His grip did not relent, and the voice that slid from his lips,
it was not the voice
of my
Seth.

Don’t leave me, he hissed. Just a couple more minutes.
