==========

/It's that feeling that someone
Is standing behind me
And I turn around and there's no one there/

Mia whirled around, eyes filling up with hope. Behind her the room was empty. She'd sensed his presence behind her, hanging over her shoulder as he'd done so often during life. He wasn't there. He was never there.

/It's the sensation
That someone just whispered
I still hear your voice but you're not really here/

A ghostly voice seemed to float into her ears. Anubis, whispering her name. She looked out the window, a tear falling down her cheek. It wasn't truly his voice of course. The wind, tormenting her with memories of Anubis.

/Your memory is like a ghost
And my heart is it's host/

She'd never believed in ghosts. She'd never thought a dead man could remain in a house, invisible but his presence as powerful as when he was still alive.

/I can still feel you just as close as skin
Every now and then
All by myself, in a crowded room, or my empty bed
There's a place you've touched
With your love no one gets close to
I can still feel you, I can still feel you
I can still feel you, I can still feel you/

Sometimes, late at night, he was so clearly there, that it was all she could do to remember that he was dead. She'd be standing amidst the Ronins, but Anubis was there.

/You said you'd love me forever
Then you said it's over
And left me without the missing link/

She'd nearly went mad with grief when she'd seen him die. He'd made promises to her, and now he was gone. As intelligent as Mia was, her mind refused to make the connection of how one day he could be alive, pledging his love to her, and how the next day he could be gone, forever beyond her reach.

/I thought I'd forget you
But I guess I forgot to
And lately I've been to confused to think/

A book on Samurais sat on the couch, unnoticed. Mia sat in the corner of the couch, her knees curled up. Her eyes wide and unfocused, her mind a thousand miles away.

/When I reach for someone new
It's like I'm touching you/

At a party, Sage walked up to her and asked for a dance. Doing the polite thing, she went out onto the dance floor and waltzed with him. The only thing she saw was Anubis. She could almost smell him, a scent that wasn't cologne, but some mix of smells that was so clearly his.

/I can still feel you just as close as skin
Every now and then
All by myself, in a crowded room, or my empty bed
There's a place you've touched
With your love no one gets close to
I can still feel you, I can still feel you
I can still feel you, I can still feel you/

After the party, she went home and stood on her balcony for a while. As the night grew cold, she turned to go inside. She could feel Anubis' hands, ushering her in before she caught cold.

/In everything that moves
In everything I do/

Every where she went, he was there with her. Whether he was truly a ghost or a figment of her imagination was pointless arguement. He was there. For better or for worse, he was there.

/I can still feel you just as close as skin
Every now and then
All by myself, in a crowded room, or my empty bed
There's a place you've touched
With your love no one gets close to
I can still feel you, I can still feel you
I can still feel you, I can still feel you/
