Rurouni Kenshin Fan Fiction ❯ Blood Bonds From The Past ❯ Chapter 1 ( Chapter 1 )
Disclaimer: Well, like I've said before, I do not own anyone from Rurouni Kenshin or Rurouni Kenshin in general. Or else…well, you know what would be happening. ::smirks:: While I may not own RK, I do own, however, the mystery guy I made up in this story; he was of my own imagination; So if you try stealing him I'll make you pay. Oh I will make you pay… O.O
*Side note: ((However, if you ever wanted to use him for a fic of your own, then I will only allow you if you ask me, state he's my character, and don't change his personality too much)) Those are the ONLY conditions!!!
A/N: Hello to everyone who remembers me. I'm back again, with my second RK story. I know my other one's still not finished, but I'll do what I can. Just be patient. I also did my best to follow the timeline, so don't throw a fit. This story will contain fighting, gory detail, a bit of comedy and lots of sad and weird drama. Ok, I'll shut up now. On with the story
*****************************
It couldn't have been a better day at the Kamiya dojo. It was about mid-afternoon, and the day had started out like normal for the Rurouni family. Kenshin rose before everyone else, as usual, and did his morning chores before preparing breakfast. The entire group just seemed to be in real bouncy mood. Maybe because nothing had happened for the past few weeks. Nearly a month it had been. No fights, no robbings, nothing like so had occurred. It seemed that peace had at long last come to make its overdue visit for Tokyo.
"YAHIKO, HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU NOT TO CHEW WITH YOUR MOUTH OPEN??!!" Miss Karous voice rang, shattering the sweet silence. Yahiko gulped down a big mouthful of food before replying, "It's the first good meal I've had in nearly a month. Sue me!" Karous eyes went big, "Why do you keep complaining about my food, especially when you get to eat for free?! For god sakes, I don't cook poison!!"
The two Kamiyakashin fighters started their daily argument. Megumi began to laugh at them, thankfully neither of the two noticing or else the argument would have went for the worst. Sanosuke groaned, frustrated, and looked away. Kenshin kept his back turned, but smiled as he folded his daily load of laundry, listening to Karou holler at Yahiko for insulting her cooking…once again. He inhaled some of the sweet spring air as he stopped doing his task to enjoy the weather, even if only for a minute.
It was one of those rare perfect days that Japan rarely saw and got to enjoy. There wasn't a single white puff of cloud visible in the vast baby blue sky. Therefore nothing was shielding the golden rays of the sun from touching the earth. Everything seemed to glitter from the warm light, even the dirt. A light, crisp sea breeze flew by, blowing back some of the wanderers blood red strands while it came and went. He exhaled slowly, relishing the beauty and touch of the early spring picture. This was a very rare moment for Kenshin indeed. He hardly was ever able to enjoy something like this, especially alone. Not that he disliked the company of the others. But still, a man needed his solitude every once in a while.
He blinked, remembering to get back to the laundry pile. Just when he folded the last sheet, Karou came up to him, "Konnichiwa Kenshin. Are you done with the laundry?" Kenshin rose and turned to look at her, "Hai, Miss Karou. I just finished, that I did." "Good. Thank you once again. I need you to go inside and clean the floors for me, please. I'd do it, but I have to go and get some more vegetables for dinner tonight. I'll be back soon. Oh, and please make sure Yahiko finishes his chores. I'd hate to have to give him another lecture." "All right Miss Karou, I'll make sure of that, de gozaru. Where's Sano by the way?" He asked. Karou frowned disapprovingly, "He left to go gambling with some of his buddies. Once he saw everyone start to work, he took off like fire."
Kenshin gave his normal smile at the young girls infuriated tone, "Don't worry Miss Karou, I'm sure one of these days he'll realize he had better start to take some responsibility soon." "I sure hope so because I won't be able to tolerate his freeloading forever, no matter how strong he is." She blinked suddenly, "I better get going before it gets too late. I don't want to hear Yahiko complaining about having no food. See you later."
With that, she walked toward the gate leading near the front and started her stroll in the direction of town. Kenshin stared after her for a moment, I sure am glad everything's peaceful again. I don't think I could stand any more battles after fighting Shishio that I do. He gazed at the still clear sky once more before heading inside to start cleaning the dojo floors.
(((******************************)))
While everyone else was busy cleaning, Sanosuke was once again losing the little money he had in a feeble attempt to try to gain some cash. "Come on, evens! Evens! Evens!!" He begged as the dice was tossed. The cubes rolled and came to a rest on the hardwood floor, showing a one and six. "Heh. What do ya know, I win again. This must be my lucky day." The challenger cried, gleefully taking his prize. Sano's mouth hung open for a moment before he moaned and lowered his head, clenching his fist, "Damnit! I can't win anymore!!" The others laughed. "Guess your luck decided to bail on ya for a permanent vacation Sano."" He frowned.
"Maybe you should bring that red head with you next time. Then you might have a better chance of winning at least one game." A short guy with light brown hair suggested. "Hmm." Sano thought about it, That might not be such a bad idea. I think I will drag Kenshin along with me next time. "Did you say he was a red head?" One lanky, raven-haired guy asked the short one. "Yeah, why?" "I think I might of played against him before. He was really good, drained me to the last penny." He replied.
Sano looked up at him, surprised, "What? Are you sure? I mean, Kenshin never gambles, not even when I bring him with me and definitely never by himself." "Well, I don't think his name was Kenshin. But I know he had red hair. Really really dark red hair." The raven said. "Do you remember what his name was?" The guy thought for a moment and shook his head.
That's really strange. I thought Kenshin was the only red head around here. And he's not a fan of gambling. I wonder.... Sanosuke smirked, "Maybe you were drunk or something Biche. Kenshin's the only red head around and he doesn't even like to gamble." The raven called Biche copied Sanos expression, "Oh yeah? Well, you're gonna regret saying that when I beat you again and get all your money Sano." "Oh yeah. We'll just see about that Biche. Luck does exist, even for me." The wonder left Sanos mind as he and the rest of the guys went on with their game.

The sun was beginning to lower itself a little as the afternoon drew on. Whipped puffs of cloud now settled in the blue ocean above as Karou began her journey back home, holding a small basket of vegetables in her arms. She too, was enjoying the serenity that had at long last come. I'm so relieved all the wars have finally stopped. If Kenshin ever had to leave again, I think my heart would have shattered to nothing.
Just as she passed the fruit stand further down, a couple of big rowdy men stepped in front her, a few in the back as well, cutting off her path. "Hey little missy. Got a moment cuz we sure would like one with you." A narrow, ebony eyed man right in front of her asked, smiling lustily. Karou glared at him, "No, I'm afraid I don't have a moment, especially for you. Now if you don't get out of my way this minute, I'll be forced to throw you out of my way." A beadered guy from behind her laughed, "I'd like to see you try missy."
Karou clenched her teeth, but didn't turn around to face him. "Face the facts honey, you're outnumbered. There's no way a small girl like you could hope to get past strong men like us." The ebony-eyed guy told her. His smile was now arrogant. Karou snorted, "A bunch of big guys like you who use their muscles more than their brains, or whatever they have of them, can't keep me trapped. Don't take me lightly just because I'm a woman."
His eyes flared angrily, "You little bitch! How dare you say such things to me!" He raised his right arm back high and started to swing it down at her in an attempt to slap her. Karou gasped and cringed back. But before his hand was barely lowered down, a strong grasp caught his wrist in the air, holding it in place.
He turned to look "Hey, what's the big idea?" The stranger, who was not very visible to Karou due to the size of the men, spoke, "You should know it's not right to hit a woman, or do you have no brains in that thick head of yours? If you don't walk away and leave her alone, I'll have to physically force the idea into your head." The guy sneered, pulling his hand free, "Like a little runt like you could hurt us. Let's get him boys!" The men obeyed and charged at him. Karou managed to step away without being knocked down. Suddenly, the man jumped into the air and attacked at an incredible speed.
Raising his right foot up, he slammed it down into the head of one of the guys, knocking him out cold. His right fist connected with another mans nose, the blow forcing him to crash into one of the guys behind him, both falling immediately. He kneed the narrowed-eyed man, and grabbing his arm, lifted him off the ground and threw him onto the dirt packed surface. Finally, he knocked the other three down with lightning quick punches. When he stopped moving, Karou finally got a better glimpse of him. She gasped and her eyes widened Wha? What? It can't be. He looks just like.... Before she could finish her thought, the mysterious man interrupted her with his deep, sexy voice,
"You should really be more careful walking through town little lady. There are still those air headed bastards out there who'll do anything for a good time. Try to keep protection on ya. Take care." He waved and walked away before she could say anything. The mans eyes were blocked by his long, thin bangs. But still, Karou thought he had the same exact similarities. She picked up her pace again and hurried on home, hoping she'd be able to find some answers.
A/N: Well, what do ya think? I know I think that we got another sweet ass dude for the Kenshin cast ^-^. It'll get better later on, I swear. Who is the mysterious man? Why was Karou so shocked by his appearance? And what about one of Sano's friends encounter with another red head, which didn't appear to be Kenshin? I'll need at least 5 good reviews to post Chapter 2. Sayonara for now! ::hops onto a shiny black motorcycle and takes off:: Whee!!!!!!!!
