Sailor Moon Fan Fiction ❯ A Little Bit of Dancing ❯ One-Shot

[ A - All Readers ]
Story #42 from Sailor DKC! Just saw the screencaps of the last
episode of the live show PGSM, and I’m so sad that it will not
continue to do other stories from the manga like Prince Demando, the
Outer Sailor Senshi , Pegasus and Sailor Stars.

But there was a note at the end of the show saying “See you again!”
I hope the show comes back! In the meantime, we have to wait and see
what happens!

Back to the story which is a one-shot and is based on a drawing from
Jess, featuring the couple Jupiter and Nephrite. Her works are from
Generals Love. When you see this *, I am describing the drawing in a
scene.
For the story, I am borrowing the character Kakusui from episode #105
in the Sailor Moon S series and Telulu,(dubbing Tella for this story)
one of the Witches 5.
Rated G and entertainment only. Have fun reading! Naoko Takeuchi owns
Sailor Moon. I don’t.

Please e-mail me at sailordkc@hotmail.com for comments!

Dedicated to Jess. I think your drawing is so kawaii!

PEACE!
And never forget 9-11-01, third anniversary. -_-

A LITTLE BIT DANCING
By Sailor DKC

Ever since it was allowed for the Moon People and
the Earth People to visit between their homeworlds, there had been
many different relationships between lots of people. There had been
the business kinds, political, entertainment, and so on. With the
exception of Prince Endymion and Princess Serenity interplanetary
love relationship, there has been no other on either the Earth or the
Moon. That is, until another couple began to be aware of their
feelings for one another.

In the Prince’s castle, a training session took place,
Princess Mako of Jupiter was the instructor of karate. She trained
very well and had a lot of good students. She also had assistant
instructors to help train beginners. They were Lord Kenneth of
Shinozaki, her best friend, and Lord Kakusui, a monk, and General
Nephrite, a Guardian of the Earth.
Mako had developed a secret crush on Nephrite and often
gazed at him while he taught the students. As she went through a
routine with her students, she can’t help but admire him as he taught
with such determination and enthusiasm. Whenever he had to hold a
girl to show a procedure, it was as if he was showing her some
graceful dance steps.

She also noticed that most of the girls in his group wore
some light makeup, barrettes or ribbons in the hair, not to mention
different hairstyles. It made her look at herself in the wall mirror
of the training studio. ‘All I do is tie my hair up and wear no
makeup,’ she thought, biting her lip. She looked back at Nephrite as
he helped another girl guide her arm to a pushing move. ‘Will he
notice me at all if I did all those things those girls did?’ Shaking
her head in disbelief, she continued her routine. ‘Oh, who am I
kidding? With all those pretty girls, he hardly has time to notice a
tall, awkward, tomboyish girl like me.’

Class has ended, and some people entered the training room
to meet with their friends, walk them out or just hang out. A lot of
new girls entered and flocked over to Nephrite, Ken, and Kakusui.
Some guys came over to talk to Mako, but only to ask for advise on
how to use proper defense techniques.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Lady Tella of Telulu
entering and sauntering over to Nephrite. The green odangoed-hair
woman has been after him since their “one” date. It was said that
Nephrite didn’t ask her again because she wasn’t his type. But it
didn’t dissuade Tella from pursuing him. “Why, hello-ooooo!” she
called out, in a sing-song tone as she stood before him. “How are
you, Nephrite?”
He looked uncomfortable as he faced her with everyone
watching. “Lady Tella,” he said, tonelessly, giving his head a polite
nod.
“Such formality!” she laughed out loud. “Anyway, I’ve come
to ask you to attend with me to the annual ball here in the castle
tomorrow night. And it is a special event for ladies because whomever
they ask to attend cannot refuse!”

Mako’s heart fell to the floor for she hoped to ask
Nephrite herself, but Tella beat her to it. However, as she turned
away, she felt bad for him because he cannot say no to Tella even if
he wanted to.
“Actually, Lady Tella, I’m afraid I cannot go with you.”
The whole room went quiet. Mako spun back, stunned. Tella
was also stunned. “Excuse me?” she said, blinking.
“What I mean to say is that I have already accepted the
invitation from another lady,” Nephrite stated as he started to look
around nervously.
Not believing him, Tella placed her hands on her hips.
“And, pray tell, who is it?”
Everyone was now focused on the argument. Wanting to end
this little show, Nephrite’s eyes scanned the room until they settled
on Mako. She gave a start when she realized he was looking at her.
Then he replied, “Princess Mako of Jupiter.”

Everyone gasped, including Mako, as Nephrite walked over
to her quickly and took her hands in his. “My dear lady, you do
remember asking me, don’t you?”
Bewildered, she stared up into his sapphire blues. An ‘are
you crazy?’ was about to escape her mouth, but she saw the ‘help me,
please!’ in his desperate eyes. As her mouth opened and closed in
disbelief, she nodded her head and managed to squeak out, “Y-y-yes!
I d-d-did!”
Giving her a relieved ‘thank you’ look, he turned to
Tella, still holding Mako’s hand, and said, “There, you see? She
asked me, and I accepted.”
Stomping her foot in fury, Tella turned and left. Now
everyone gathered around Mako and Nephrite and started asking a lot
of questions.
“So you two are going to the ball?”
“How long have you been dating each other?”
“Lady Mako, when did you ask him?”
“Is this a serious relationship, Lord Nephrite?”
They both got separated amongst the crowd. Mako looked
across the mob and stared at him, confused, while Nephrite shrugged
in a helpless gesture.

Later in her guest room, Mako was preparing herself for
dinner when a knock sounded on her door. “Ken!” she exclaimed,
happily to the Lord of Shinozaki when she opened the door.
“Are you ready for dinner, Mako?” he asked. She nodded and
took his arm as she closed the door behind her. As they walked
through the hallways, he commented, “So, you and Nephrite are going
to the ball?”
“Huh?” she said. “What do you mean?”
“How could you forget? It was sort of unofficially
announced today during karate class.”
“Oh, that. Well, I don’t know if you noticed, but I think
he just said that to get Lady Tella off his back. I never asked him
at all.”
Frowning, Ken crossed his arms. “I wonder why he did
that?”
“It doesn’t matter.” Mako shrugged. “He wouldn’t enjoy my
company anyway.”
“What do you mean by that?” He stopped and faced her,
hands on hips. She stopped also.
“I mean why would he be interested in me? I’m just a tall,
lanky girl with no femininity in me whatsoever.” Sighing, she looked
down on the floor, hands clasped behind her back.

Ken held his hand out to her. “C’mere.” Frowning, she
placed her hand in his. Then he swung her around, and they both
started to dance gracefully. Although there was no music, Mako could
feel the joy of dancing within her. She laughed, threw her head back,
and swung out her arms, now and then. Her dress billowed about her as
Ken gave her a fast dip to end it.
“Ken, what are you doing?” she giggled as they both
straightened up.
“Just a little bit of dancing,” he laughed. “When you
smile or laugh, Mako, your face lights up and your eyes sparkle. When
you dance, your movements are like a ballet dancer. Now if that isn’t
femininity, then I don’t know what is.”
Giving him a big smile, she linked her arm through his.
“Thanks, Ken. Let’s go eat.”

In the dinner hall, everyone was eating and conversing.
Mako chatted with her princess companions and sometimes with Ken and
Lord Kakusui. She felt better after her talk with Ken, but then she
looked across the room to where the Earth Generals sat and saw
Nephrite. He looked really handsome tonight. ‘I know that he only
pretended,’ she thought. ‘I guess I can take comfort that he
acknowledged me.’
As she gazed at him wistfully, she was startled when he
suddenly looked in her direction and smiled. She turned around to see
if there was anyone behind her, but there wasn’t. When she turned
back to look at him, he winked at her. Giving a quiet gasp, she
quickly stood up and made an excuse to retire early. She nearly ran
out of the dining hall.

As she hurriedly walked down the hall, she heard someone
call her. “Lady Mako! Please wait!” Stopping suddenly in shock, she
turned to see Nephrite approach her. He stood before her and bowed to
her. “Good evening, my lady. Are you well?”
Finding her voice, she replied, “Yes, thank you, Lord
Nephrite. May I help you?”
“Actually you already did today, and I want to thank you.”
“Well, um, yes.” She looked at the floor, shyly. “You
needed help so I helped you. Um, I hope everything turned out OK.”
“Well, the thing is. Lady Mako, is that I truly need an
escort for the ball, but unfortunately, with the exception of Lady
Tella, no one has asked me.” Clasping his hands behind his back, he
balanced on his feet. “So maybe you can help me again by…”
Mako couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Was this a
dream? ‘If it is, I hope I don’t wake up,’ she thought. She then
asked, “Are you saying that you want to go to the ball with me?”
“I accept!” Leaning over, he gave her a quick kiss on the
cheek. “I will come pick you up an hour before the ball.” And with
that, he headed back to the dining hall.
She then turned and headed back to her room. “What just
happened here?” she asked, aloud.

The next day, Nephrite was running through the woods for
his daily run. Approaching a small waterfall, he saw Kakusui standing
in the pouring shower, meditating. He stepped into the pool,
flinching in its freezing temperature. The monk opened his eyes,
acknowledged him, and closed them again. The general stood next to
him and began to concentrate as the shivering water drenched him from
head to foot.
After a while, Nephrite felt a hand on his shoulder.
“General,” Kakusui began. “I sense a huge emotion conflicting within
you. Do you wish to converse with me?” Nephrite nodded, and they both
stepped out of the waterfall. Sitting on a large rock, they relaxed
as they talked.
“Tell me, Lord Kakusui, what do you think of Princess Mako
of Jupiter?”
“Ah,” sighed the monk, smiling fondly. “She is a woman of
great strength and courage. Yet she hides her beauty so well that
when you do see it, you wonder how such beauty exists.”
“Hide her beauty? What do you mean? I think she’s
beautiful already.”
“That would be music to her ears, General Nephrite. For
you see, she behaves as an ignored ugly duckling. She feels she
cannot compete with the women who seem to follow you. Now tell me:
why did you allow her to be in your lie to Lady Tella?”

Embarrassed, Nephrite kicked his feet gently in the pool.
“I guess when I saw her look at me I sense she would help me out. She
has these eyes that tell me that no matter what the pain she’ll do
what she can to help.” Shaking his head in wonder as he stared up in
the sky, he continued, “I became lost in those eyes, and I felt that
within her she feels alone. And I don’t want her to be alone.”
Nodding in agreement, the monk got off the rock and stood
under the waterfall again and closed his eyes. “And is that why you
chased after her so she can ask you to the ball?”
Getting off the rock also, Nephrite stepped out of the
pool. “I guess so.”
“Were I not totally committed to my vows, General, I
would not hesitate in seeking to escort Lady Mako to the ball.”
Opening an eye, he smiled as he saw the general’s shocked and jealous
expression. Nephrite then ran off into the woods.
Closing his eyes again, Kakusui chanted, “People need
people.”

Throughout the whole day, Mako prepared for the ball. She
took a perfumed bath, joined her friends in picking out gowns to
wear, and tried out makeup and hairstyles. Now she waited in her room
waiting for her escort to arrive. She jumped as she heard the knock
on her door. Taking a deep breath, she walked over and opened it.
Eyes opening wide, she took in General Nephrite as he stood in her
doorway. He looked more handsome than ever. His brown hair, longer
and wavier, and his general’s uniform looked brand new. But the way
he looked at her made her feel so beautiful that she blushed and
lowered her eyelashes a little as she bent her head slightly.
Nephrite nearly gulped loudly. Princess Mako looked so
lovely in the green satin gown she wore with matching shoes. Two pink
roses adorned on her waist, making her look so shapely. The thin
matching neck ribbon showed off her slender neck, and her shoulders
looked smooth and creamy in the thin strapped top part of her gown.
Her hair was curly yet wispy in a lovely ponytail with a hair ribbon
dangling.

His eyes never leaving the spectacular view before him, he
took her hand and kissed it. “My lady,” he said, throatily. “You
dazzle me with your presence.”
“Thank you,” she replied, shyly. Taking his offered arm,
she closed the door, and they both proceeded to the ballroom.
Throughout the party, Nephrite never left her side. They danced,
laughed, danced more, ate, talked and danced more again. A few ladies
and a few gentlemen came up to ask the other for a dance, but were
kindly refused by both parties, with the exception of Lord Kenneth
and Lord Kakusui and Lady Naru, an old friend of Nephrite’s.

Nephrite was finishing his dance with Naru and was about
to seek Mako when suddenly Lady Tella appeared before him. “Lady
Tella!” he exclaimed.
“Oh, please, my lord!” she begged. “Just one dance with
you!” She threw herself in his arms and pulled him to the dance
floor.
“I’m sorry, no!” Nephrite complained as he tried to free
himself.
Holding him still, she held onto him as she looked over
his shoulder. “You do not have to pretend with me,” she said,
sneeringly. “I know you used her as a means so I couldn’t ask you to
the ball!”
“That is not of your concern!”
“And now you’re stuck taking her here in my stead. I mean,
it must be so hard being with someone so unfeminine like her!” she
snickered.

“That’s enough! I will not have you say such things about
Lady Mako! If there is anyone who is unfeminine, it is you, Lady
Tella!” he said, angrily, his face hardening.
Tella gasped in an outraged manner. “How dare you!”
“No, how dare you! Princess Mako has more style, more
class, and more femininity than you’ll ever have! It’s true I needed
her to keep you away from me, and she would have just turned me away.
But the way she looked at me and sensed I was in trouble, she decided
to help me nonetheless, and that’s what drew me to her!”

“Oh, Nephrite.”
Whirling around, he was stunned to see Mako behind him,
amidst everyone dancing around them.
“Do you mean it?” she asked, eyes full of hope.
Softening at the sight of her, he took her hands in his.
“Yes. I think you are the most beautiful woman I have ever known.”
Bending his head, he gently kissed her.
Scoffing angrily, Tella turned and disappeared into the
crowd. It was at that moment the song ended, and as the crowd stopped
dancing and clapped, they both ended the kiss.
“Please forgive me for being forward like that,” he said.
“I don’t mind. As a matter of fact, I hope this is the
beginning of something for us,” she said, smiling.
Smiling back in agreement, Nephrite reached behind her and
took her right hand in his right as a new song prepared to begin.

* Posing, Mako stood in front of Nephrite, and they both stretched
out their left arms in a synchronized position. *

The music started, and he twirled her into his arms. And
there they held each other, staring at each other and doing a little
bit of dancing.
