Chapter one. :And then there was you
Michiru sat just playing with her food. It wasn't that she wasn't hungry, but she was just in deep thought. The girls around her, her friends, were talking about what they had done over their summer break. She really didn't care to listen. They did the same thing every year. Go to their grandparents, family reunions and then to the family beach house with their boyfriends and so on. Michiru always had interesting summers. With the business her father owned along with her violin talents she could pretty much go where she wanted. The places were always different. But a lot of stuff was the same. People would only say hi because she was a Kaioh or something of that sort. But she had met someone really special this summer.
Rika looked at Michiru. “Michiru-chan. What are you in such deep thought about? You haven't said much of anything this after noon. Did you and Yuuji-kun get into a fight?”
“No. I haven't seen him today at all. I'm just thinking. Sorry I'm being so quiet girls.”
Sakura just smiled. “So what's his name?”
Michiru looked up and blushed a bit. “What are you talking about Sakura-chan?”
“Let's see. Your “thinking,” your not eating, and your dating the hottest guy in school but you haven't talked to him today. So spill Michiru. How did you meet him?”
Michiru turned an even deeper shade of crimson. “On the cruise ship about two weeks ago.”
“More details would be nice Michiru-chan. Like what he looks like, what's his name, how old is he, where does he live, and what are you going to tell Yuuji-kun.”
Michiru rolled her eyes. “Sakura-chan you know the both of us decided to see other people over the summer.”
“Well summer is over and your obviously still head over heels for mister cruise ship guy.”
“Haruka...” Michiru just continued to blush and looked away.
“So the mystery man has name. Does he have an age to go with it to? And a story to how you meet him.”
“Haruka is 23 and lives in Japan. But is often out of the country on business.”
“So how did you meet him?”
“Well it was really weird how we meet but it was so cute.”
Michiru was standing on the front bow of the boat when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her and squeeze her tight. She was really frightened and almost screamed when a hand went up to her mouth stopping her from doing so.
She heard a deep husky voice that sounded really gentle. “Please just play along. I have a mob following me.” Michiru turned her head to see how the person who had the audacity to invade her person space was. She looked up and saw the most beautiful teal eyes she had ever seen. And on of the most perfect creatures to walk the planet.
She turned her head to other way when she heard a lot of screechy voices. “HARUKA-SAN YOU ARE SO COOL. WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Those were just a few of the phrases Michiru had read being thrown out. Along with a couple pairs of underwear laying at their feet. It call came to a dead stop when the girls saw Haruka's arms around Michiru's waist. They all darted away in different directions yelling their lives were over.
Michiru smirked and turned her head to face the stranger. “I take it you an important or famous person. Do you often just run up to random women and do this sort of think Haruka-san?”
Haruka just grinned at her and took her arms away from her waist. She held out her hand to shakes Michiru's. “I'm really sorry about that. I really appreciate you helping me. I know it was really random. But you were practically the only woman on the ship not chasing me. The only other ones who weren't were the old hags. Tenou Haruka by the way.”
“Oh. That's why they are chasing you. You are the racer right? Kaioh Michiru by the way.”
Haruka shook her hand lightly. “Yes racer by weekend. Corporate executive by week. You are a fantastic musician.”
Michiru blushed a little bit. “Arigato Tenou-san.”
Haruka grinned and flashed Michiru a gorgeous smile. “To answer your question earlier. I don't walk up to just any random woman. Only the beautiful ones.”
Michiru smiled. “Quiet the charmer aren't you Tenou-san?”
“I try. But most of the time I don't have too. But I'm up for a good challenge.”
Michiru shoot Haruka a glare. “Who said I wanted to play?”
“That told me everything I need to know. Will you go to dinner with me Kaioh-san? To repay your kindness for helping me.” Haruka flashed her a pleading look and pouted her lip.
Michiru smiled. “How can I resist that? You are quiet the charmer Tenou-san.”
“Call me Haruka.”
“Alright Haruka-san. What time shall we go to dinner?”
“How about I meet you at your room in about an hour. So we can get ready”
“Sounds good to me Haruka-san. E128 is my room number.”
Michiru stopped her story as she felt a pair of arms come around her waist. “Yuuji-san. I'll be over to your table in a minute. I'm talking to them.”
She heard a husky chuckle. “I cancel a race to come see you and I come from Paris, and you tell me to go away not even calling me by my name. See if I come surprise you again.”
Michiru jumped out of her seat and put her arms around Haruka's neck kissing the racer. “I missed you so much Haruka.” Haruka kissed her back and smiled.
“I missed you too Hime-chan.”
Michiru cocked her eyebrow and looked at Haruka. “Why are you wearing that stupid hat and those sunglasses.”
“Remember on the boat? It would be the same effect here Hime-chan. I would really rather not have a bunch of high schools girls mobbing me when I'm trying to spend time with my Hime-chan.” Haruka smiled at Michiru and took a seat beside her at the table.
All of the girls looked slacked jawed at Haruka then to Michiru. Sakura grinned. “And I thought you were pulling our leg.”
“No I wasn't. Do I lie?”
They all shook their head no except for Haruka who just grinned. “Well there was that one time you promised to give my underwear back if I...” Smack in the arm. Michiru turned bright red and turned away.
“HARUKA. I SWEAR TO KAMI.”
Haruka grinned and put her arms around Michiru who was facing the other way. The girls just broke out into fits of laughter. Haruka pulled Michiru close to her and kissed her cheek. “I'm sorry Hime-chan. I was just kidding. Forgive me.” Haruka made the same pouting face she used to get Michiru to go to dinner with her. All the girls sighed and giggled.
“How can you say no to that Michiru-chan?”
“I can't. That's way I'm not turning around and looking at Haruka's face. I know I'll give in.”
Haruka turned around as she felt a tap on her shoulder.
“Obviously the young lady wants nothing to do with you. So why don't you leave her the hell alone you jerk.” Haruka looked this guy up and down. He was about 5'9, brown hair, blue eyes, and decently built.
“I think she is quiet capable of taking care of herself. And I'm not bothering her. You missed the whole conversation so why don't you just leave you us alone. I'm not bothering you right Hime-chan. It's none of you concern anyway.” Haruka just turned her attention back to Michiru.
All of the girls just gawked at the two `gentlemen' in front of them. Little to Haruka's knowledge not that she would care anyway. The young man standing up to her was Yuuji.
“It is my concern when you hitting on my girlfriend. Now why don't you leave so things don't get ugly.”
Haruka growled and stood up pushing her chair back. She looked down at Yuuji. She had him by a good six inches. She stood about six feet three inches tall. “I'm not even going to bother.” Haruka just sighed and turned to say something to Michiru when Yuuji pushed her.
All of the girls gasped. “YUUJI-SAN.” Haruka just looked at him and cracked a evil smile. She turned around and ran her fist into the wall making a significant dent in the cement.
“Don't.” Yuuji stood there slacked jawed as he watched Haruka just take her seat back beside Michiru.
“Michiru-chan what is the meaning of this?” Yuuji tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around and glared at him.
“We decided to date other people over the summer correct. The way I see it is, is that I would rather much like to continue seeing other people. Sense you are handling it so well. We are through. I know about you and Motori Sajin anyway. You two were going at it before we broke up for the summer. So don't even patronize me about having Haruka here.”
Yuuji just turned and stomped away. “This is no where near over.”
Michiru turned to Haruka and pulled her sunglasses of slowly. “I just wanted to see those teal eyes of yours Ruka.” Michiru giggled and looked over at the clock on the wall. “We get out of lunch soon. Then I have two more classes for the day. Meet me outside at three? Pretty please. I missed you so much.”
“Of course Hime-chan.” Haruka leaned close to her and kissed her. “Anything for you.”
Michiru giggled and the other girls did to as they watched. Michiru cocked an eyebrow and looked at Haruka. “How did you get in here anyway?”
Haruka pulled up a case from beside her. “A violinist needs her instrument.”
Michiru looked at her confused. “But I have my violin. I used it this morning.”
“They don't know that. They are stupid. Besides I saw you eying this one when we went shopping last week. Open it.” Michiru slowly slide the case open. She gasped and threw her arms around Haruka's neck.
“Haruka. You shouldn't have gotten this. I know how expensive it was. A crystal violin. That is insane.”
“Think of it as a thank you for being the best thing that ever happened to this old racer.”
“Haruka your only 23.”
Michiru stood up on her tip toes and kissed Haruka forcefully. “I'll see you in a couple of hours. Please stay out of trouble this time.”
“Always Hime-chan.” Haruka leaned down and nuzzled Michiru's neck. She grinned a little and whispered in Michiru's ear. “Ashiteru. I `ll see you later Hime-chan.”
Michiru blushed as she watched Haruka walk out of the cafeteria doors. She sat back down in her seat as the girls stared at her.
“Why did you tell him to leave so soon? You know lunch doesn't end for another half hour then you have a free period.” Sakura looked as Michiru in disbelief.
“Because I wanted to finish telling you guys the story. Besides Haruka probable has many business related things to do. It's not like were not going to be together tonight anyway. I'm still surprised Haruka opted to skip the race.”
Rika smiled at her. “You were at the part were you told him your room number.”
Michiru smiled. “Oh yeah. That next hour was hell.”
