Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Easter dinner ❯ The invite ( Chapter 1 )
Manic sat on his couch and read the text message from Aleena. “Oh, you gotta be joking.”
Surge glanced up from building a Lego city with hers and Manic’s seven year old twins Glitch and Cyber. “What’s wrong?”
“Ma was letting us know when to come over for dinner on Easter.” Manic said. “She wanted to do a family picture and was telling everyone, especially us, to dress up for dinner and the picture.”
Glitch furrowed his brow. “Like in costumes?”
“No, she means to dress up in suits or dresses.” Manic said, rolling his eyes. “Like those super frilly dresses from the nineties your aunt Sonia loved.”
“We don’t know what those look like, Dad.” Cyber replied.
Manic pulled up a picture on his phone and showed it to Cyber and Glitch. “Like this.”
“Ew! I’m not wearing that.” Cyber shrieked.
“I’m not making her wear a stupid dress like that.” Surge said, crossing her arms. “They’ll dress a little nicer, but that’s it, especially with Nikòs. He’s two.”
Manic set his phone down. “I know, but it’s just for two hours.”
Surge motioned to Glitch, Cyber, and Nikòs’ room. “Unless she pushed these three out of her, she is not dictating their clothes.” She replied. “You either back me up or go alone.”
“You know I’ll back you up.” Manic replied. “That’s not even a question.”
“Good.” Surge said, turning her attention to the kids. “I think the city is big enough now.”
Manic looked at the Lego city, which covered the entire length of the living room floor. “It should be.” He said. He slid off the couch to sit on the floor. “A’ight, Glitch. You can get Godzilla now.”
Glitch carefully walked to his room, stepping around Legos.
“Do you think Nikòs would like to see the show?” Manic asked.
“No, he’ll break it.” Cyber protested. “We all worked hard on this.”
“True.” Manic said.
Glitch came in with his remote controlled Godzilla.
Surge got her phone out.
Glitch set his toy down and turned on the remote control. “Ready?”
Surge started recording a video. “Go.”
Glitch made the Godzilla toy march through the Lego city, knocking down the buildings as it roared.
The twins cheered while Surge and Manic laughed.
“Oh, man, so worth it.” Manic said.

Sonic and Tails sat outside Tails’ workshop as they took a break from working on the Tornado and checked their messages.
Sonic set his phone down. “This will be fun.”
Tails glanced up from his phone. “Yeah, you hate pants.” He said as Sonic took a sip of his soda.
Sonic spit out his drink. “Pants?! I gotta wear pants?!”
Tails sighed. “Good grief, it’s two hours of your life, Sonic.”
Sonic groaned. “I guess you’re right.” He said. He got up. “I’ll see you later. Sal, the kids, and I are supposed to go to her dad’s for dinner.”
“Have fun.” Tails replied.
Sonic raced off.

Shadow shook his head as Sonia read off Aleena’s message. “Sonic won’t like wearing pants and Manic and his family will dress like the Addams family.”
Sonia huffed. “They better not do that.” She replied. She started texting. “I’ll tell them to act normal for once.”
Shadow sipped his coffee. “This will go over well.”
Sonia flinched. “Wow, that’s a lot of cursing emojis.” She said, setting her phone down. “Surge must’ve answered Manic’s phone.”
“It’s not your business, Sonia.” Shadow replied. “Let your mom handle it if she’s upset.”
Sonia sent another message to her brothers. “Right, it’ll save me a headache.”
“It’ll save me a headache too.” Shadow replied. “Do you hang around your brothers for your mom’s sake or do you actually like them?”
“It’s complicated.” Sonia said, giving a halfhearted shrug. “It’s not exactly like that identical twin connection you hear about, but it’s close enough to explain the triplet bond. Manic and Sonic come close to the identical twin thing sometimes and it’s scary.”
“What do you mean?” Shadow asked.
“One time, when we were sixteen, Manic and I were making lunch and Manic suddenly complained that his back hurt for no reason we could tell.” Sonia replied. “Sonic came home an hour later, saying he landed on his back after a spin dash and knocked the wind out of him. Found out it happened at the same time Manic complained about his back hurting. They’ll call each other at the same time. They do this a lot.”
“But they’re not identical.” Shadow said.
“I know.” Sonia replied. “It freaks me out.”
Sonia got up. “I better dig out my old dresses for Maria to look over.”
“She won’t wear it.” Shadow muttered under his breath as Sonia walked away.
