Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ Easter dinner ❯ Family dinner ( Chapter 2 )
Manic fixed Glitch’s tie. “There.” He said, messing up Glitch’s spines. “We’re almost twins.”
Surge, wearing a hooded dress and leggings, walked into the living room with Cyber (who was wearing a similar outfit as Surge) and Nikòs.
Manic looked at Nikòs. “You just want to wear a hoodie and jeans, little guy?”
“I’m not fighting a two year old.” Surge replied. “We’ll be lucky if he won’t try to take his pants off.”
“You gotta move out of that phase or get completely potty trained, kiddo.” Manic said, picking up Nikòs. He stood up.
Surge kissed Manic. “You clean up nice, Cute stuff.”
“You too, Babe.” Manic said. “Alright, let’s go.”

The triplets and their families showed up at Aleena’s house at pretty much the same time.
Surge looked at Maria, who was wearing a black T-shirt dress and boots, and scoffed. “Oh, what happened to her frilly dress, Sonia?”
“She destroyed it with a Chaos blast.” Sonia replied.
“Don’t feel bad, Sonia.” Sally said. “Sonic whined about wearing pants more than the kids whined about their clothes. I swear I actually have three kids instead of two.”
“Hey.” Sonic protested.
Uncle Chuck opened the door. “Come in, kids.” He said. “Dinner’s ready.”
Uncle Chuck led the way inside. “We figured the kids wouldn’t dress up, but she thought Sonic and Manic would wear pants.”
“Sonic probably fussed over the pants more than the kids do in general.” Sally said.
Surge and Sonia laughed.
Kit and Tails glanced up from setting the table. “Hey, everyone.”
Aleena looked up as the family walked in. “Boys.”
“What?” Manic asked. “I’m wearing a button up and tie and so is Glitch.”
“But you’re still wearing your piercings.” Aleena replied. She motioned to Sonic. “Couldn’t you at least wear a polo?”
“I’m wearing a nice v-neck T-shirt and shoes.” Sonic said. “I’ll put on pants for the picture.”
“Then do that now.” Aleena replied. “I figured we could take a picture before dinner.”
*
The family, except for Surge and Nikòs, gathered in Aleena’s garden, by the lilies.
Surge huffed as she marched Nikòs over to the group. “No; pants on, mister.”
“Just like his daddy.” Sonia said, smoothing Maria’s spines out.
“Manic doesn’t have to wear pull-ups.” Surge said, holding Nikòs by his shoulders. “He might need changing, I’m not sure. He’s still getting the hang of letting us know.”
“Then why can’t you check now?” Sonic asked. “I think I can speak for everyone when I say we wouldn’t mind waiting for that.”
Everyone agreed.
Manic walked Nikòs back into the house.
“Ma, I hate this tie.” Glitch whined.
“I hate not wearing sweats and one of your dad’s old shirts.” Surge said, pulling Nikòs closer to her. “You’re not the only one who’s uncomfortable.”
“Shouldn’t Nikòs be potty trained by now?” Kit asked.
“Sorta.” Surge replied. “Trying to potty train him reminds me of that Dinosaurs episode where Baby Sinclair was being potty trained.”
Sonia, Aleena, and Sally laughed.
“Probably shouldn’t have let Nikòs see that show.” Surge said. “Last week, he found a toy frying pan in their cooking set and hit Manic on the head with it when he was taking a nap on the couch. It was funny at first, but….”
Manic marched Nikòs out. “This has got to stop.” He said. “Call me ‘not the mama’ one more time and you’re grounded.”
“Can you ground a two year old?” Tails asked.
Surge sighed. “I don’t know anymore.”
Manic took his place beside his family and held Nikòs by his shoulders. “Alright, ready whenever anyone else is.”
Uncle Chuck looked at Tails as he got his phone ready. “Are you sure that will get everyone in?”
“I’m sure, Unc.” Tails said.
Sonic patted his foot. “Let’s go, I’m waiting.”
“Ready?” Tails asked.
“Ready.” Everyone replied.
Tails took the picture, then checked it. “Alright, if it’s okay that Maria and Shadow have the resting murder face.”
“That’s fine.” Aleena said. “Thanks, everyone.”
“Can… can we eat now, please?” Kit asked.
“Yes, we can.” Aleena replied. “The ham should be done now. Go ahead and let the kids change clothes while I get their food ready.”
The kids raced into the house.
Manic picked up Nikòs. “Well, this is your play clothes anyway.” He said, carrying him into the house.
Everyone else followed Manic inside.
*
Uncle Chuck carved the ham and served everyone.
Manic poured watered down apple juice in Nikòs sippy cup, then twisted the lid back on. “There you go, lil dude.” He said, handing Nikòs the cup back.
Nikòs smacked Manic on the head with the cup. “Not the mama!”
Manic groaned. “Stop it. Now.” He said. “It’s not funny, it hurts.”
Nikòs turned away, frowning. “‘M sorry.”
“I forgive you, but don’t do that again.” Manic said. He got up and headed back to the table, rubbing his head. “How is he that strong?”
Surge shrugged. “I think it’s because he aims for the same spot every time.”
Manic sat down.
Aleena brushed Manic’s spines and fur back. “You got a nasty bruise there.”
Manic grimaced. “Great….”
“Dinner’s really good, Mrs. Hedgehog.” Kit said.
Everyone agreed.
“Thanks, Kit.” Aleena replied.
“So do we wait until after dessert to let the kids do the egg hunt?” Sonia asked.
“Dessert first.” Glitch replied.
The other kids agreed.
“I guess it’s settled.” Sonia said.
*
The family gathered outside for the egg hunt.
“Okay, whoever finds the gold egg wins the prize.” Uncle Chuck said.
“Yes, uncle Chuck.” The kids replied.
“Go ahead.” Uncle Chuck said, sitting down in one of the outdoor chairs.
The kids scurried around the garden, searching for the eggs.
Sally shook her head. “River has overlooked about three eggs. He needs to slow down.”
“Gets it from his dad.” Aleena said. “He did the same thing when he was little.”
Cyber held up the gold egg. “I found it!”
Maria’s eyes and spines started glowing.
“Maria, you can’t Chaos Blast her for that!” Sonia yelled.
“Do what your mom says.” Shadow said.
Maria huffed as her eyes and spines stopped glowing huffed. She went back to hunting for more eggs.
Manic looked at Sonia. “Do you think she needs anger management classes?”
“She needs to turn five already.” Sonia replied. “It’s the ‘flipping fours’ thing.”
Manic nodded. “Ah, yeah.”
Finally, the kids hurried back to the adults.
Uncle Chuck handed Cyber a gift bag. “Here you go; it’s not much, but maybe you’ll like it.”
Cyber opened the bag and pulled out a Snoopy plushie wearing a bunny suit. “Aww!”
Manic snapped his fingers. “That’s the special I wanted to show them.” He said. “It’s been driving me crazy for a week.”
Surge glanced at Nikòs, who was trying to fall asleep sitting up. “We better go. It’s his nap time.”
“I could use a nap too.” Sonia said. “I didn’t sleep well last night.”
“Us too.” Sonic said. “We still have to go to Sally’s family’s house.”
“Thanks for coming by.” Aleena replied. She hugged her children. “Love you all.”
“Love you too.” The triplets said.
After saying goodbyes, the triplets and their families left Aleena’s house.
