Sonic, Shadow, and Maria sat on the couch of Sonic and his siblings’ air bnb. 

 “What’s going on?” Sonia asked.

 Sonic shrugged. “GUN is doing something shady.” He replied. “They’re looking for me and Shadow, they killed Dr. Gerald, and we can’t contact Rouge and Knuckles.”

 Shadow’s phone rang. 

 Shadow answered it. “Rouge?”

 Rouge sighed in relief. “Oh, my goodness, you scared me.” She replied. “Knux and I thought you were dead. “GUN showed up at your house and Gerald’s. Do you have Maria with you?”

 “Yeah, she’s safe.” Shadow said. “We’re in Dresden with Sonic, a little cabin by the mountains.”

 “We’re at the coffee shop on your island.” Rouge said. “Toss a ring for it.”

 Shadow got a ring out. “Ready?”

 “Yeah.” Rouge said.

 Shadow tossed the ring. 

 Rouge and Knuckles stepped through it.

 “Okay, shut your phones off.” Rouge said, shutting her phone off.

 Shadow, Sonic, and Knuckles shut their phones off.

 Maria shrugged and shut hers off too.

 “We can’t stay.” Rouge said.

 “None of us can stay then.” Sonia said. “We gotta cancel the tour.”

 “We can’t run forever.” Sonic said. “Let’s take him out and keep the tour going. The next show is in a few days anyway.”

 “Agreed, but they have to be somewhere safe.” Shadow replied.

 Sally, Manic, and Surge walked in.

 Sonia rolled her eyes. “Like we can’t help?”

 “Help with what?” Sally asked.

 “Oh, the whole GUN thing?” Manic asked.

 Sonia asked. “How do you know?”

 “I hack their files occasionally.” Manic replied. “Sonic and Shadow are being set up by Dr. Ivo Robotnik.”

 “Oh, man, Egghead?” Sonic asked. He laughed. “That’s who we’re running from? I fight him every day, he’s not a problem.”

 “Looks like he’s bringing his a-game, bro.” Manic replied. “He got GUN to flip on you.”

 “Okay, so Mother and Uncle Chuck took Muttski back home.” Sonia said. “Do we go back there or go somewhere else?”

 The window shattered.

 Everyone ducked as gunfire exploded through the room. 

 Shadow crawled over to the window and peered out. “GUN is firing at us.”

 “We can’t fire back without getting in trouble, can we?” Manic asked.

 “So?” Surge asked.

 Shadow fired a Chaos blast at the agents. 

 “Nevermind.” Manic replied.

 “Okay, Maria, you’re gonna stay with Aleena and Uncle Chuck.” Shadow said, getting a ring out. “We’re gonna attack this at its source. Get ready to go.”

 Maria nodded.

 Shadow tossed a ring into the air. 

 Maria stepped through the portal as soon as it opened.

 “Now, where are we heading?” Shadow asked.

 “Robotnik is in… hmm… the industrial zone of East Mobius.” Manic said, looking at his tablet. “Oh, man… not good.”

 “What?” Sonia asked.

 “He’s working on something called the roboticizer.” Manic replied. “You go through it and come out a robot. Like it completely replaces your body, just keeps your brain.”

 “Definitely gotta stop that.” Sonic said. “We’ll need my team.”

 “You all can handle backup, keep the bots off my tail.” Shadow replied. “I’ll handle the doc. I’m not playing around with him. He just signed his death warrant.”

 “I’ll help him.” Surge said.

 “You’ll need me to get you inside.” Manic said. 

 Sonic sighed. “Shadow….”

 “Look, Sonic, I agree with the peaceful method.” Sonia said. “But it looks like this is gonna be an all out war. Someone’s gonna die and I don’t want it to be you or Shadow.”

 “I’m not included, hon?” Rouge asked. “Didn’t realize you saw me as that big of a threat.”

 Sonia’s eyes widened. “I… uh….”

 Rouge laughed. “I’m kidding, hon.” She replied. “I’m happy for you two.”

 “Enough, we have to go.” Shadow said. “Tell your team to meet us at East Mobius, Sonic.”

 Sonic tapped on his communicator. “On it.”
