Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ House Guests ❯ A few days later ( Chapter 4 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Sonic sat at his bar, drinking coffee when Manic and Surge walked in.

“How are you feeling?” Sonic asked.

“Okay, just weak.” Manic replied. “Thanks.”

Surge glanced up from pouring coffee. “Same here.”

“Glad you’re feeling a little better.” Sonic said. “Good luck.”

 “Thanks.” Manic replied.

Surge walked over to Manic with their coffee cups.

 Surge and Manic walked out.

“Please let them get a house.” Sonic said. He sipped his coffee.

*

Sonic came back from his morning run as Manic and Surge came in.

 “Hey.” Manic said.

“Hey, so how did it go?” Sonic asked.

“We’re waiting on the offer to go through for the other house.” Manic said.

“We don’t know if we should aggravate them about it.” Surge said, sitting at the bar.

“Do you have their number?” Sonic asked.

“You’ll be all weird and freak them out and we definitely won’t get the house.” Manic replied. “I may call later, but if you want us out so bad, you probably should let us handle it and not do anything stupid.”

“You have a point.” Sonic said. He checked his watch as it chimed. “Tails wants something. I’ll see you around lunch time.”

 “Have fun, bro.” Manic replied.

 Sonic left the house.

 *

Sonic skidded to a halt in Tails’ workshop where Tails, Amy, and Shadow along with Sonia, Sally, and Aleena were waiting for him.

“Thank God.” Sonic muttered as he flopped down on the couch. “Some normal Mobians for once.”

“Where’s Manic and Surge?” Tails asked.

“They’re still waiting for their offer to go through.” Sonic said. “I can’t take it anymore. They’ve been acting like I’m their butler since he and Surge got sick.”

“Have you tried talking to them?” Tails asked.

“Think about how they feel, Sonic.” Amy said. “They lost their house and it’s a stressful time for them.”

“I did, that’s why I let him and Surge stay with me.” Sonic replied. “I’ve talked to him about it. He seems to be amused by all of this. I swear Surge’s attitude has rubbed off on him.”

“Can’t argue with that.” Shadow said.

“You two got along so well growing up.” Aleena said. “What happened?”

“I don’t know.” Sonic replied. “But you would’ve been ready to kill him if you had to suffer through that fever dream of a movie he and Surge made me watch with them.”

“I looked it up out of curiosity and he’s right.” Tails said, grimacing. “I think the Rifftrax guys were stunned into mostly silence.”

“Shadow got curious about it himself and Chaos blasted the tv after the movie ended.” Sonia said. “We needed a new tv anyway, but still.”

“You’re lucky I didn’t go out and Chaos blast Manic’s head over that.” Shadow replied.

Sonic sneezed. “Oh, and they may have made me sick.” He said. “Awesome.”

“Sonic, I understand your frustration, but you’ve complained to me and Tails since the first night.” Sally said. “You’re not exactly patient with him anymore.”

“Well, patience has never been his strong point.” Tails replied.

“Yes, but he had more patience with Manic when they were kids than he does now.” Sally said, angling herself to face Tails. “He was texting me at ten-thirty at night, ranting about them on the first night of Manic and Surge staying with him.”

“Is this about Surge?” Sonia asked. “I know you can’t stand her.”

Sonic leaned over to get a tissue out of the box. “I still don’t like her, but she does treat him well.” He replied. He blew his nose into the tissue.

 Sonia and Aleena groaned. “Sonic.”

“Besides all of that, you should be grateful that they’re okay.” Sally said.

“I didn’t think about it that way.” Sonic said, hanging his head. He got up. “I’ll try to talk to him.”

Shadow huffed. “Can I at least beat the daylights out of Manic for that movie?”

“I’m fine with that.” Sonia said.

 “Sonia Louise hedgehog.” Aleena scolded.

Sonia sighed. “Mother, it was horrible.” She replied. “The guy was a ripped apart skeleton and he was asking to go to the hospital like they could save him after that.”

“And that was the best part.” Shadow and Tails said.

“Did you drop Manic on his head when he was a baby, Mom?” Sonic asked.

Aleena gave Sonic a dirty look.

Sonic flinched. “Sorry, I’m so sorry.” He said. He raced out.

*

Sonic skidded to a halt at his door and shivered. “Great, now I’m running a fever.” He muttered as he opened the door.

Manic and Surge looked up from their lunch.

“Aw, man, I’m sorry we made you sick.” Manic said, getting up. He walked over to Sonic and walked him to the living room. “Get some rest, bro.”

Manic helped Sonic onto the couch. “I’ll make you some chicken soup and crackers.” He said, pulling a blanket over Sonic.

 “Thanks.” Sonic replied.

 Manic left the room.

Sonic sighed. “I’m such a jerk.”

*

Manic came back into the room with chicken soup, crackers and a cup of medicine as well as a small bottle of Gatorade on a tray. “Here you go.” He said, setting the tray over Sonic’s lap.

 “Thanks, bro.” Sonic replied.

“Do you want to watch tv?” Manic asked.

“No, but I need to talk to you.” Sonic replied.

“Go ahead.” Manic said, sitting down.

Sonic sighed. “I’m sorry I haven’t been really patient with you and Surge.”

“It’s cool, we weren’t exactly the best houseguests ever.” Manic replied. “I’m sorry about that. Anyway, you should be happy to know we got a house near Ma’s house.”

 “Congratulations.” Sonic said.

“Thanks.” Manic replied. “It’ll be a few days before we’re able to move in, so we’ll be here to take care of you while you’re sick.”

 “Thanks.” Sonic said.

“Don’t mention it.” Manic replied. He picked up the remote. “Wanna watch The Matrix?”

 “Fine with me.” Sonic said.

 Manic turned the movie on.

Surge came in a few minutes later and sat down beside Manic.

Sonic finished his meal and took his medicine, then fell asleep.
