Sonic Series Fan Fiction ❯ The Black Sheep ❯ The unfavorite ( Chapter 1 )
Aleena parked the car in front of their new home.
It was a lot smaller than their old home, but at least it had three bedrooms.
Her three year old triplets were anxious to get out, especially Sonic and Manic.
Manic was drumming his fingers on the door panel, Sonic fidgeted in his seat, and Sonia was pouting because her brothers were getting on her nerves.
Sonic leaned forward. “Can we go play? Please?”
“Yeah, please?” Manic asked.
“You have to help me move our stuff first.” Aleena replied.
“We’ll get done faster if we all work together.” Uncle Chuck added.
“Fine.” The siblings said.
As soon as they got out of the car, Sonic ran across the street to play with a chipmunk girl, who was playing in her own yard along with two boys (a black and red hedgehog and a red echidna) and a rabbit girl.
Aleena sighed. “At least he's fast.” She muttered.
“Aleena, you shouldn’t let him slide on things like that.” Uncle Chuck said, getting a box out of the car. “Manic and Sonia will try to do that too. They don’t realize they’re not anywhere near as fast as he is.”
“I know, but I’m exhausted and at least he’s finally quiet.” Aleena said. “After four long, long hours.”
Manic tugged on Aleena's skirt. “Wanna ride my skateboard please.”
“Not now, sweetie.” Aleena replied. “Help me and Sonia unpack.”
“No fair! Sonic’s not helping.” Manic protested. He saw his skateboard and grabbed it.
“Put that down and help us.” Aleena said. “I know Sonic’s playing. I'll have to get him in a minute. Let me get your stuff so you can have something to do while I get him.”
Manic huffed, but did as he was told.
Aleena started pulling small bags out and handing them to Sonia as Uncle Chuck carried a few boxes into the house.
Manic noticed his skateboard rolling down the driveway and ran after it.
Sonia glanced over her shoulder, seeing Manic in the middle of the street… with a car approaching. “Manic!”
Thankfully, the car was already slowing down and stopped.
Manic grabbed his skateboard and ran back to the house. “Ma!”
Sonic and his new friends ran over to them.
Aleena picked Manic up and carried him to the porch. “Don’t do that again.” She said, voice shaking. “You could’ve been killed.”
Uncle Chuck stepped out onto the porch. “What just happened?”
“He chased his skateboard into the street.” Aleena said, finally catching her breath. She handed Manic to uncle Chuck. “Make sure the boys unpack their stuff. Let Manic listen to his music as long as he stays focused and doesn’t listen to it too loud.”
Uncle Chuck nodded.
Sonia hurried over to Aleena. “Mother, can I go play with the other kids?” She asked. “Please?”
“Sure, just don’t leave the sidewalk.” Aleena replied. She headed back inside.
“Hey, that’s not fair.” Manic protested.
“Fine, Sonic, go play.” Aleena said.
Sonic shrugged and hurried to play.
Uncle Chuck looked at Aleena. “What about Manic?”
“Make sure Manic puts up his toys.” Aleena said, over her shoulder.
Uncle Chuck sighed. “No, it’s not fair, buddy.” He said, carrying Manic inside. “I’ll let you listen to your favorite band without your headphones while you help, okay?”
“Okay.” Manic muttered.
Sonic hurried after Uncle Chuck. “Can’t Manic play?”
“Sadly, no.” Uncle Chuck said.
“I’ll help you clean so we can play, bro.” Sonic replied.
“Thanks, Sonic.” Manic said, smiling weakly.
Uncle Chuck carried Manic into one of the empty rooms.
Sonic followed them into the room and sat down.
“It’s not fair, Uncle Chuck.” Manic whimpered.
“I know, Manic.” Uncle Chuck said. “I’ll try to talk to her about it.”
Manic nodded.
Uncle Chuck glanced toward the door. “Actually, I’ll get your sister.” He said. “She doesn’t need to be out there unsupervised.”
Manic smiled. “Okay, that’s fair.”
Six year old Sonia and Manic laid on the living room floor while Aleena talked on the phone with a friend from work.
Manic got up and ran over to show his drawing to Aleena. “Look, Ma!”
Aleena moved her phone to the other side of her head. “Uh-huh.” She mumbled. “Mom’s busy.”
Manic frowned, then turned to walk away.
Sonia ran past Manic with her drawing. “Mother, look what I drew!”
Manic turned to face Sonia. “She’s busy, sis.”
Sonia held up her picture. “Look.”
“Hold on a minute, please.” Aleena said. She put her phone on mute, then turned to face Sonia. “You did a great job, sweetie.”
Aleena hugged Sonia.
Manic seethed, then stomped off to his and Sonic’s room.
Sonic stopped jumping on his bed and sat down, dangling his legs off of the bed. “What’s up, bro?”
“It’s not fair.” Manic protested. “Sonia’s the middle child. Shouldn’t she be ignored?”
“I think it’s because she’s the only girl and… I dunno, I guess Mom didn’t exactly want boys.” Sonic replied.
Manic flopped down on his bed. “So why doesn’t she send us to live with Dad?”
“I don’t think he wants any of us.” Sonic replied. “I overheard Mom say he had a new family a few weeks ago. She said she had contacted him occasionally to give him updates on us, but he ignored them.”
Manic groaned. “So when can we move out?”
“In twelve years.” Sonic replied.
“Ugh.” Manic muttered. “That’ll take forever.”
“I know.” Sonic replied.
Manic grabbed his pillow, held it over his face, and screamed into the pillow.
Sonic got up and sat down beside Manic. “Hey, at least we have Uncle Chuck.”
Manic slid the pillow down. “I guess that’s true.”
Sonic looked down at Manic’s drawing. “Whoa, you drew this?”
Manic huffed. “Yeah and Sonia’s still doing baby scribbles.”
“You did an awesome job, bro.” Sonic said.
Manic grinned weakly. “Thanks.”
Sonic took the drawing and hung it up on their bulletin board. “We’ll get a frame later.”
“Boys, come and help make dinner.” Uncle Chuck called.
Sonic and Manic ran out of their room.
