[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Tails ran into the hangar/garage where Sonic and Knuckles were working on a car. “Glitch has been spotted downtown.” He said, trying to catch his breath. “He has severely injured a few GUN agents already. He’s at the square.”

 Sonic ran off, leading the way to downtown.

 Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles walked around the burning wrecked cars.

 “He’s been busy.” Sonic said. 

 Tails waved his detector over the cars. “It has faint traces of radiation on them.” He said. “Probably from at least one Chaos Emerald.”

 “‘Bout time you showed up.” Glitch said.

 Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles turned around.

 Glitch was standing on the fountain wall with his arms crossed.

 “It’s three against one.” Sonic said, smirking.

 Shadow and Surge stepped out of the shadows and stood beside Glitch.

 Sparks of electricity flashed off of Surge’s rings.

 Shadow took off his inhibitor rings.

 Sonic’s eyes widened. “Oh, why did I have to say anything?”

 Tails stepped back. “We can’t take them all on.”

 “Regroup.” Sonic said. “We-”

 Shadow punched Sonic, knocking him out.

 Knuckles and Tails tried to fight back, but were knocked out by Glitch and Surge respectively.

 

 Sonic woke up shackled between Knuckles and Tails (who were also shackled) in Robotnik’s lab.

 Robotnik was standing over them. “Ah, so you have a makeshift family, Sonic?” He asked. “Is your own flesh and blood not good enough for you?”

  “What are you talking about?” Sonic asked.

  Robotnik stepped aside. 

 Manic stepped out of the shadows. “You remember me?”

 Sonic raised an eyebrow. “Glitch?” He asked. “Why should I remember you?”

 Manic scoffed. “You really don’t remember me, bro?” He asked. “I guess you were too little to remember.”

 Sonic furrowed his brow, then his eyes widened. “Manic…?”

 “Yeah.” Manic said. “Thanks for being there for me.”

 “Manic, I’m sorry.” Sonic replied. “I asked you to leave with me. I have been trying to find you for years.”

 Manic scoffed. “Sure you have.”

 “I have.” Sonic insisted. “You dropped off the map after I ran away. I couldn’t even find adoption records for you. I went back to the orphanage, but you were gone.”

 Manic bit his lip.

 “He could’ve tried harder.” Robotnik said. “Take care of him.”

 “It’s true, Manic.” Tails said. “I’ve been helping him search for you since I can remember.”

 Manic looked at the laser gun in his hand.

 “Don’t do it, bro.” Sonic said. “Please. I’ll make it up to you. You can live with me and Tails. We have a room fixed up for you already. Ask him if you don’t believe me.”

 Tails and Knuckles nodded. 

 “It’s true.” Tails said.

 Manic dropped the gun and ran over to Sonic. “I’m sorry, bro.”

 Sonic hugged Manic as best as he could while shackled.

 “Fine, I’ll handle both of you.” Robotnik said, pressing a few buttons on his gauntlet.

 Manic started picking the locks on the electronic shackles.

 Shadow and Surge walked in as drones arrived.

 Manic looked over his shoulder as he unlocked the shackles around Sonic. “A little help, Babe? Shadow?”

 Sonic took out two of the robots.

 “Don’t listen to that ungrateful brat.” Robotnik said. “I’ll double your pay.”

 “We’re not getting paid.” Surge replied.

 Manic finally freed Tails and Knuckles who joined Sonic in the fight.

 “I’ll start paying you.” Robotnik said.

 “Tempting, but no.” Shadow replied.

 “You really think I’d betray Manic for someone I don’t trust?” Surge asked.

 Robotnik hurried to his panic room and locked the doors.

 Surge, Manic, and Shadow helped Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles take out the robots.

 Shadow took his inhibitor rings off as Maria walked in.

 “What is going on here?” Maria asked.

 Shadow glanced at Maria, then put his inhibitor rings back on. “I’ll make you a deal, Robotnik.” He said. “You let Maria leave with us and I’ll let you go.”

 “Shadow?” Maria asked.

 “Deal.” Robotnik replied.

  The doors to the panic room opened.

 “Come on, Maria, let’s pack your things.” Shadow said. “I’ll explain while we do that.”
