Everyone was gathered in Sonic and Sally’s house for a game night.

 Sonia was on the phone while everyone waited for her to stop talking so they could finish their trivia game.

 Manic drummed his fingers on the coffee table.

 “We’re waiting, Sonia.” Sonic muttered.

 Sonia grinned. “Oh, thank you so much, Mother.”

 Everyone looked at Sonia.

 “Yeah, it sounds like a lot of fun.” Sonia said. “Can’t wait to see you too. Okay, I gotta tell everyone. Bye.”

 Sonia hung up and squealed.

 “So what was that about?” Sonic asked.

 “Mother is surprising us all with a trip to Universal Mobius beach to celebrate Manic and Surge being newlyweds.” Sonia replied. 

 Manic leaned over the coffee table. “Whoa, we’re going to Jurassic World?”

 “That’s all you heard, isn’t it?” Sonic asked. 

 “Uh, yeah, I’ve been dying to go there since I was a kid.” Manic replied.

 “Mario world looked cool too.” Tails said. “Or Nintendo world, whatever it’s called.”

 Sonic gave Tails a dirty look. “How dare you.”

 Sonia sighed. “You don’t have to go to that section of the park, Sonic.” She replied. “We have phones and we can always meet at the gates. It’s not like the nineties.”

 Sonic glanced at Shadow and chuckled. “Can you imagine Shadow at a theme park?” He asked. “He’s allergic to fun.”

 Shadow scoffed. “I wouldn’t mind going to Jurassic World or the Dark Universe.”

 “What the heck is the Dark Universe?” Sonic asked.

 “Where they have the old monster movie characters like Dracula and Frankenstein’s monster.” Tails replied.

 “Oh, you would like that, Hot Topic.” Sonic muttered.

 “So when are Sonic and Shadow running us down there?” Surge asked.

 “Excuse me, I’m not running all of you, Mom, and our luggage to Mobius Beach.” Sonic replied. “I’m not a long distance taxi service.” 

 “Besides, Sonia packs like she’s moving to a new house.” Shadow said. 

 “You do too, Mr. twenty step skin care routine.” Sonia retorted. 

 “I’m not hauling that stuff there either.” Shadow said. “I’ll buy the travel stuff when I get to where I’m going.” 

 “Well, the Tornado won’t hold everyone and I still haven’t perfected the rings.” Tails said. “What are we gonna do?”

 “Mother is flying us all there and has rented a place and is gonna rent a little bus for us all.” Sonia replied.

 Surge furrowed her brow. “How can she afford that?”

 Manic looked at Surge. “Because our family was royalty before the monarchy was dissolved.”

 Surge nodded. “Oh, right.”

 “The problem is, it’s only a four bedroom, three bathroom place.” Sonia said. 

 “So one for me and Sal.” Sonic said, naming it off on his fingers. “Sonia and Shadow. Manic and Surge, that’s three. Uh… I guess Mom would get the fourth. But where does that leave Tails, Maria, and Kit?”

 “Maria can stay in mine and Sonia’s room.” Shadow said.

 “Kit can take the couch while I’ll just take my blanket and use a throw pillow to sleep on the floor.” Tails replied. “I do that at my workshop sometimes. It’s no big deal.”

 “We can alternate on who gets the couch.” Kit said.

 “See?” Tails asked. “All worked out.”

 “Wait, Maria can’t go on the rides.” Kit said.

 Shadow gave Kit a dirty look. “There’s other things she can do there, you-”

 “I- I d-d- didn’t know.” Kit said, holding his trembling hands up defensively. “I don’t mind if she goes.”

 “It’s okay, Shadow.” Maria said, rubbing Shadow’s shoulder. “He didn’t mean anything by that.”

 Shadow nodded.

 “Okay, so it’s in two months, the last weekend of September.” Sonia said. “We leave early Friday morning and head home on Monday afternoon. We can all head out in Sonic’s van.”

 “Maybe we should stay here the night before we leave for the airport.” Sally said, reaching for her water bottle. “That way, we can all just grab our bags and head out with no stops.”

 “Great idea, Sal.” Sonic replied. “It’ll be awesome.”
