Sonic Series ❯ Trip to Universal Studios ❯ Night before the flight ( Chapter 2 )
Sally grabbed a stack of clothes and Sonic’s extra socks and gloves, then set them into their suitcase. “Maybe your mom will leave us alone about kids now that Manic’s married.”
Sonic laughed. “That’ll be fun.” He said, packing their tablets and charging cords. “Surge can have a temper.”
Sally put an extra pair of shoes into the suitcase. “Okay, that’s everything but the stuff we’ll need to use tomorrow.” She replied. “Did she have to fly us out at six in the morning?”
“Sorry, Sal, it’s all they had.” Sonic said, shrugging. “It’s gonna be rough, but maybe you can sleep on the plane.”
Sally yawned. “Well, we better go ahead and get some sleep.”

Manic packed his and Surge’s clothes. “Babe, where’s the cute dress I got you?”
“It’s too hot to wear that at Mobius Beach.” Surge replied.
“But Ma is planning a special dinner.” Manic said, running his hand through his spines. “It’s nothing fancy, but I guess I just wanna show my beautiful wife off.”
Surge glared at Manic. “So what are you saying?” She asked. “You’re not dressing up either. You’re gonna roast in those thick t-shirts or your vest.”
“They’re no thicker than your shirts.” Manic replied.
“I’m wearing my linen pants and my thinner t-shirts.” Surge said. “You need to wear your ripped tank-tops.”
Manic pulled out the t-shirts he had originally planned to take. “I suppose you’re right.”
“If it helps you feel better, I’ll bring my plain tank top and mesh shirt.” Surge said. “Cute enough?”
Manic hugged Surge. “Yeah, it’s great.” He replied. “Thanks, Babe.”
“You’re welcome, cute stuff.” Surge said, playing with Manic’s spines.

Shadow pulled out the mattress pad for himself and Sonia near Maria’s bed. “You need to go to bed as soon as we’re done packing.” He said, laying a thick quilt and pillows on the mat. “We have to get up insanely early.”
Maria sat down on the bed.
“Not feeling great, Maria?” Shadow asked.
“I’m a little nervous.” Maria replied. “I’ve never been on a plane before.”
“Me either.” Sonia said, packing the bags. “But it’s pretty safe and we’ll be there with you.”
“One of us will sit with you.” Shadow said, taking his shoes off.
Sonia handed Maria a beanie baby hedgehog. “You can hold him on the plane, maybe it’ll help you feel less anxious.”
“Oh, are you gonna take his picture at the park?” Maria asked. “Like that girl we follow on Instagram does?”
“Yeah, I thought it would be fun.” Sonia replied. “You can take the pictures if you want.”
Maria hugged Sonia. “Thanks.”
“Aw, you’re welcome.” Sonia said.
Shadow closed the suitcases and put them by the door. “Alright, bed time.”
Sonia glanced at the clock. “But it’s still so early.”
“We have to get up early.” Shadow said, walking over to the mattress pad.
Maria laid down in her bed. She reached over and turned on the lamp.
Sonia turned the room light off and headed over to the mattress pad. “Good night.”
“Good night.” Shadow and Maria replied.
Maria turned the lamp off.

-morning-
Manic dragged himself out of bed as soon as his clock went off.
Surge shut the alarm off. “Ugh, I hope we have no plans other than the flights today.” She muttered. “This is insane.”
“Ma said we should settle in and have a quiet day.” Manic said, changing into a T-shirt and cargo pants. “I’ll make coffee, then come back for the bags.”
Surge climbed out of bed. “Yeah, whatever.”
Manic leaned over and kissed Surge. “I know.” He replied. He headed into the kitchen.
Tails and Kit were already up.
The lights were dimmed.
Tails had made coffee on the coffee maker and on two pots on the stove.
“Oh, thanks, Tails.” Manic said. “Did you make breakfast too?”
“There’s a bowl full of hard boiled eggs in the fridge and I got some apple chips for everyone yesterday.” Tails replied. He yawned. “Even made everyone’s water cups last night.”
“I don’t think you can take those water cups on the plane.” Manic said, getting a coffee cup out of the cabinet.
“Didn’t think of that.” Tails replied.
“But thanks, dude.” Manic said, pouring himself some coffee. “You’re a lifesaver.”
“Aww, thanks.” Tails replied.
Everyone else shuffled in.
“Lil bro made coffee and breakfast for everyone.” Manic said.
“Thanks, Tails, but I don’t know if I can eat.” Maria said. “I’m too nervous.”
“You need to try so you don’t get sick if there’s turbulence.” Shadow replied.
Maria nodded. “You’re right; thanks, Shadow.”
“Go ahead and eat breakfast since you’re driving, Shads.” Manic said. “Sonic and I can get the bags.”
“Kit and I will help.” Tails replied.
“Great.” Sonic said, patting Tails and Manic on the back. “Get our breakfast out and ready, please, Sal.”
Sally got her coffee cup. “Of course, hon.”
Sonia checked her phone as Sonic and Manic led Kit and Tails to get their bags. “Mother said she’ll meet us at the airport.”
Shadow got his and Sonia’s breakfast. “Tell her we’ll be there as soon as possible.”
