Sonic Series ❯ Trip to Universal Studios ❯ Airport ( Chapter 3 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

The group walked into the Mobotropolis airport.

 “Where’s Aleena?” Maria asked.

“She’s already gone through security and is waiting by the gate.” Sonia replied.

“Okay, we gotta check the bags in.” Sonic said.

“I’ll do that for you, Maria.” Shadow said, taking her carry on. “Sonia, you take her to the bench by the escalator.”

Sonia walked Maria to the benches. “It’s gonna be okay.” She replied. “You might like the flight.”

The boys stood in line to check their luggage.

“About security.” Sally said. “Empty your pockets and take off any jewelry you may have.”

Surge yawned. “My jewelry is in our luggage.”

Sally glanced at Surge’s ankle boots. “The buckles might set off the alarms.”

“I know, but those are all I have.” Surge said. “I hope there’s a coffee place past the security desk. I could use some more.”

“If not, you can always ask for coffee and ice on the plane.” Sonia replied.

“So what night were we having dinner?” Surge asked. “Why were we paying seventy bucks for chicken and potatoes?”

“It’s dinner and a show.” Sally replied. “Aleena thought it would be cool to see a jousting match.”

 “So did I.” Sonia said.

Surge groaned. “Ugh. Why can’t everyone get sick of that medieval stuff already?”

Maria looked at Surge. “I understand it’s not your thing, but it does sound kinda cool.”

Surge waved her hand dismissively. “You were a baby when everyone thought you had to like it.” She replied. “Just like everyone thought you had to like princess garbage and anime when I was a kid and shunned you if you didn’t like it. So, yeah, I hate it now.”

“In short, don’t try to make something Surge’s new interest.” Sally said.

Maria nodded. “That does sound annoying.”

The boys finally made their way over.

“Alright, let’s go through security.” Sonic said.

The group stood in line at the security checkpoint.

Manic tried to stifle his laughter.

“You’re thinking of Seinfeld, aren’t you?” Sonic asked.

 Manic nodded.

“Don’t try to sneak onto first class.” Sonic said. “You’ll get in serious legal trouble.”

“I hope my cyborganics don’t set off the… thing.” Surge muttered.

“Let them know if it does.” Manic replied. “They’ll probably only wave the stupid wand over you instead of patting you down.”

Sonic tapped his foot. “Why is it taking so long?”

“Someone didn’t completely empty their pockets.” Shadow replied. “Twice.”

“Maybe they haven’t had their coffee yet.” Sonia replied. “It is pretty early.”

“No, they do this all the time.” Sally said. “I saw this a lot when Daddy had to drag me around for business meetings.”

Shadow shook his head. “It’s too early to deal with this.”

The group finally made it through security.

Aleena was waiting by their gate. She hugged her children as soon as they reached her. “Oh, it’s so good to see you all.”

“Great to see you, Ma.” Manic said, grinning. “Thanks a lot.”

“You’re welcome.” Aleena replied. “I’m sorry we had to get up so early, this was the only flight out from the Mobotropolis airport today.”

“It’s cool, at least we can rest at the house.” Sonic said.

 “We need coffee.” Surge said.

Manic let go of Aleena. “Yeah, we need to find some iced coffee.” He said. “Call me if they start boarding.”

“It’ll be a while.” Sonic replied. “We’ve got another hour and we’re the last boarding group.”

Manic and Surge walked off to find a coffee shop or store while Kit headed to the bathroom.

 Everyone else sat down.

Sonic glanced over his shoulder. “I probably should get my own coffee.” He said, getting up. He hurried off in the direction that Surge and Manic had gone.

“He didn’t even think to ask me if I wanted coffee.” Sally said.

“Well, they have complimentary coffee on the plane.” Tails replied. “It’s just not iced coffee.”

Sonic, Manic, and Surge came back with their coffees and sat down.

 Sally looked at Sonic.

Sonic looked at Sally. “Why are you- oh. Oh, man, I’m sorry.” He said. “Do you want to split mine or get your own?”

“I want my own.” Sally replied.

“Duh, Sonic, backwash is a thing.” Manic muttered.

“So?” Sonic asked. “She’s kissed me before.”

“But we don’t share toothbrushes.” Sally replied.

“Huh, good point.” Sonic said, handing his coffee to Sally. “Be back in a minute.”

 He raced off.

Aleena shook her head. “He’s old enough to know better than that.”

“I think he just doesn’t care.” Tails said, shrugging.

Sonic finally walked over with Sally’s coffee. “Sorry, Sal.” He said, handing her the cup. He sat down.

“Thanks, Sonic.” Sally replied. She handed Sonic his coffee back. “You better stretch your legs. It’s gonna be a while.”

Sonic got up and paced around while everyone else sat and waited.
