Deciding to tell Ryoko later, Tenchi continues simply chatting with her as they walk to the house. It becomes one of those times, where they enjoy spending hours talking, and if anything, it makes Tenchi even more certain of his love. As he steals glances at her, he cannot help but wonder how a guy like him could ever catch the interest of a girl as wonderful as Ryoko.

Dinner was another culinary masterpiece curtsy of Sasami. Tenchi kept preparing himself, wondering how he would set it up, what he would say, and running her possible reactions through his head. Unfortunately all this thinking had made him nervous, but he managed to ask Ryoko to the roof discreetly without too much trouble.

They sat together on the roof, admiring the stars side by side, while Tenchi worked up courage. He decided to just throw himself into it and improvise, just when Ryoko was about to ask him why he was so tense.

"Ryoko..I love you...I think I have for some time now..I.."

That was as far as Tenchi got before Ryoko glomped him and proceeded to express her gratitude in a long kiss. Tenchi was mildly relived that he didn't have to improvise more dialogue, and answered the kiss in kind.

It was an incredible feeling, sitting in an embrace with the girl he loved under the stars in the war summer night. He hadn't felt so right since the time Ryoko returned after the battle of Jurai.

After a while and a couple of kisses, they simply sat down, Tenchi's arm on Ryoko's shoulders and Ryoko's arm around his waist. A few words and kisses were exchanged, but mostly they just held each other and basked in the other's presence.

Tenchi had no idea how much time they had spent like this, when Ryoko asked him.

"Would you like to make love under here under the stars?"

"I don't know if I am quite ready for that yet"

"Why not? We love each other, want each other, and you are old enough."

Now is the time to choose.
