Episode 6: The Secret Admirer

-Kiyobi enters the kitchen.
Kiyobi: "Good morning."
Everyone: "Godo morning, Kiyobi."
Kiyobi: "What's for breakfast?"
Ms. Kawazaki: "I cooked some omelettes. Here."
-Ms. Kawazaki gives Kiyobi a plate with omelette.
Kiyobi: "Thanks, mom."
Ms. Kawazaki: "Oh, by the way, a letter came in the mail for you."
Kiyobi: "A letter? For me?!"
-Ms. Kawazaki hands an envelope to Kiyobi.
Hawk: "Let's see it!"
Kiyobi: "Hell no, it's private."
Hawk: "Whatever."
-Hawk takes a bite of his omelette.
Kiyobi: "Hmm... there's not even a return address..."
-Kiyobi opens the envelope, reveling a letter. Kiyobi opens up the letter.
To Kiyobi,
I've been waiting for the perfect time to meet you, but schoolwork always gets in the way. I finally have the time, and I would love to meet with you on Saturday, April 23rd if you are available. Maybe we can have some lunch at the mall or maybe spend some time at the arcade. If you can make it, meet me in front of Diamond High at around noon.
From, your secret admirer.
-Kiyobi's face turns red.
Wait... someone actually likes me?! And she wants to... go out with me?!
Xyrho: "Ey, Kiyobi! Hello?"
-Xyrho snaps his fingers in front of Kiyobi's face.
Kiyobi (shakes head): "What?"
Xyrho: "I thought we lost you for a second."
Kiyobi: "Eh... sorry. I was just reading this letter..."
Xyrho: "Let me see!!!!"
-Xyrho reaches for the letter but Kiyobi puts it away.
Xyrho: "What's the matter?"
Kiyobi: "N-Nothing."
Xyrho (sly face): "You sure???"
Kiyobi: "Yeah..."
-Kiyobi starts eating his breakfast.
Man... I just woke up and this happens! Talk about tense.
*Time cut: 11:50 AM*
Kiyobi: "I'm going out, mom!"
Ms. Kawazaki: "Where are you going?"
Kiyobi: "I'm going back to school."
Everyone: "School?!"
Xyrho: "What are you gonna do there?!"
Ms. Kawazaki: "I have to say, I'm surprised myself."
Hawk: "Dude, nobody goes back to school on a weekend!!!"
Kiyobi: "...so?"
Ms. Kawazaki: "Well, I won't hold you back."
Hawk (to Xyrho): "He's lost it."
Kiyobi: "I heard that."
Ms. Kawazaki: "Take care!"
Kiyobi: "Later."
-Kiyobi leaves the home.
Well... this sure is real tense. I was shaking the whole way to Diamond High!
-Kiyobi arrives at Diamond High's closed front gate.
*Time cut: 12:05 PM*
Kiyobi: "Where is she?"
???: "Um... Kiyobi...?"
Kiyobi: "Yeah...?"
-Kiyobi turns the other way.
???: "Over here..."
-Kiyobi turns back.
Kiyobi: "Oh, there you are."
The girl was a bit shorter than me. She wore some rather modest clothing and a matching baseball cap.
???: "Hi. I'm Mina. You must be Kiyobi?"
Kiyobi: "Yeah, I'm him."
Mina: "Uh... so you want to go to the mall or something?"
Kiyobi: "Okay, I'll treat you to lunch."
Mina: "Really? I don't think I should..."
Kiyobi: "No, I insist."
Mina: "Why, thank you."
-Kiyobi and Mina walk to the mall.
You know... she has a real quiet voice. Real shy type.
Mina: "Do you like kittens?"
Kiyobi: "Do I?! Of course!"
Mina: "Me too. My, you're the energetic type."
Kiyobi: "And you're kind of quiet..."
Mina: "Sorry..."
Kiyobi: "No need to apologize. It's not your fault."
Mina: "You're right."
Kiyobi: "So... what do you like to do on your spare time?"
Mina: "Well... I like to draw. Oh! That reminds me..."
-Mina reaches into her knapsack.
Mina: "I drew these."
-Kiyobi flips through her notebook.
Kiyobi: "Wow! These are amazing!"
Mina: "I'm glad you like them." *Smiles* "Look at the last page."
-Kiyobi flips to the back of the book.
Kiyobi: "That's... me!"
Mina: "Do you like it?"
Kiyobi: "Yeah! That's amazing!"
-Kiyobi stares at the picture for a bit.
Kiyobi: "I look good."
-Mina giggles.
Mina: "You're funny. Just like you always have been."
Kiyobi: "Say what?"
Mina: "Nothing!"
*Time cut*
We finally made it to the mall, and we were hungry. So we headed to the food court for a bite to eat.
Kiyobi: "What do you want to eat?"
Mina: "Uh..."
Kiyobi: "Take your time. But don't take too long that you starve."
-Kiyobi & Mina laugh.
Mina: "How about some Panda Express?"
Kiyobi: "Sounds good. I'm hungry for some orange chicken myself!"
-Kiyobi and Mina fall in line.
Kiyobi: "I'll take some stir fry with orange chicken, please."
Mina: "I'll have some teriyaki and mongolian beef."
Kiyobi: "You actually eat mongolian beef?! That stuff's HOT!!!!!"
Mina: "Yeah. I like spicy food."
Kiyobi: "I'm kind of weak in the stomach. Orange chicken is spicy enough for me."
Cashier: "That'll be 1249 yen, please."
-Kiyobi hands 1500.
Cashier: "Here's your change. Enjoy your food."
Kiyobi: "Thanks."
-Kiyobi and Mina find a table.
Mina: "Thanks for buying me lunch, Kiyobi."
Kiyobi: "It's nothing."
Mina: "So... what do you do on your spare time?"
Kiyobi: "I like to go out with friends, hang out at the mall. Or I just sit at home and watch TV."
Mina: "I see."
-Mina takes a bite.
Kiyobi: "You know, you remind me of someone."
Mina: "R-Really?"
Kiyobi: "Really. She's a classmate of mine. Her name's Cream, and she's like a bag full of energy. You two are like complete opposites, though, but it's funny."
-Mina laughs weakly.
Kiyobi: "Something the matter?"
Mina: "Nothing."
So we finish lunch, and we headed to the arcade.
Kiyobi: "You know, you don't look like the kind of girl who likes to play games."
Mina: "Looks can be decieving. I'm pretty good at DDR."
Kiyobi: "How good?"
Mina: "I can do like seven, eight footers."
In stupid terms, each song has a rating. A "foot rating". Songs with a 10 foot rating are insanely hard. Get my drift?
Kiyobi: "Me too!"
Mina: "Let's go!"
-Kiyobi and Mina step up to a DDR machine and pop in their coins. Kiyobi selects the first song and hits start.
Game: "Get ready..."
Kiyobi (bowing classily): "May I have this dance?"
-Mina giggles.
Mina: "Of course."
Game: "Here we go!"
-Kiyobi and Mina start dancing wildly to the song playing. Kiyobi starts swinging wildly and ends up knocking Mina's hat off without notice. As the song ends, Mina notices her hat is gone.
Mina: "Oh no! Where's my hat?!"
Kiyobi: "Something wrong?"
Mina: "Don't look at me!"
Kiyobi: "Why? Are you bald or something?"
-Kiyobi notices a familiar hairstyle.
Kiyobi: "Wait a minute..."
-Kiyobi gets a hold of Mina's shoulder and turns her around, revealing her true identity.
Kiyobi: "CREAM?!?!"
Cream: "Yes... it's me..."
Guy: "Excuse me, miss, you dropped your hat."
Cream: "Thank you."
-Cream takes the hat.
Kiyobi: "Why?! How come you didn't tell me before?"
Cream: "It's because... I was..."
Kiyobi: "I won't be mad. Go ahead and tell me."
Cream: "I was too shy! Okay?! I know we've been friends since kindergarten..." *starts making tears* "...but I was afraid you didn't share the feelings like I had for you..."
Kiyobi: "Cream..."
Cream: "It's true! "
Kiyobi: "WHOA! Too much info there."
Cream: "I love you, Kiyobi! I truely, indefinitely, love you!!!"
Kiyobi: "Cream... I'm sorry... but..."
Cream: "But what?"
Kiyobi: "Well... it's just..."
This is why I don't date. It usually turns out bad, and I hate to see a girl with a broken heart.
Kiyobi: "To be honest... I do love you... just not in that way..."
Cream (sad): "...I understand..."
Kiyobi: "I'm sorry."
-Kiyobi wipes Cream's tears.
Cream: "I'm sorry you had to go through all this..."
Kiyobi: "Let's go have a slow song. Think you can do a couples routine?"
Cream: "R-Really?"
Kiyobi: "Why not? I've always wanted to try it."
Cream: "Oh... Kiyobi!!!"
-Cream hugs Kiyobi.
Kiyobi: "TOO TIGHT....!!!!"
-Cream lets go.
Cream: "Sorry..."
Kiyobi: "No need."
-Kiyobi hugs back.
Kiyobi: "Shall we dance?"
Cream: "Surely."
So we continued playing DDR for a while. We do make great dancing partners. Scored perfects all across the board. There was even a crowd! We got applause! That's what I'm talking about!!!
Game: "Thank you for playing!"
-Kiyobi skips the credits roll.
Kiyobi: "You want to go home?"
-Cream shakes her head.
Cream: "I still want to spend some time with you..."
Kiyobi: "Well... it's your day from here on. I'm out of ideas."
Cream: "How about we go to the park?"
Kiyobi: "Okay."
-Kiyobi and Cream walk to the park.
Kiyobi: "You know... you got me good there."
Cream: "Really?"
Kiyobi: "But there was only one problem in your plan."
Cream: "What?"
Kiyobi: "Well... I don't remember any Mina's in our school."
Cream: "Heh..."
We spent the rest of the day at the park. Just me and Cream. I really hated myself when I sort of "dumped" her... but that's life. Sometimes it can bite you in the ass and give you an atomic wedgie so fierce you stop growing, but at other times it gives you a lift up to the next step. We talked about things, like school, our basketball team. Random things that just bring friends closer, you know?
Kiyobi: "It's getting late. Don't you think you should be getting home?"
-Cream is seen lying her head on Kiyobi's shoulder.
Cream: "It's pretty early. It's only... 4:30."
Kiyobi: "I guess we could stay out a bit longer."
-Cream looks worried.
Kiyobi: "What's the matter, Cream?"
Cream: "...K-K-Kiyobi..."
Kiyobi: "What is wrong with you?!"
Cream: "...Sorry! I can't help it!!!"
Kiyobi: "Wait a-!"
-Cream starts making out with Kiyobi.
*insert cheesy love background here*
Sure, that felt... weird... and random... but... on the other hand... kind of... heartwarming...
-Kiyobi breaks the kiss.
Cream: "I'm so sorry! So sorry!!! Please forgive me!"
Great, now I'm the one who feels bugged.
Kiyobi (angry): "I thought I said I didn't like you that way!"
Cream: "I know! I'm so sorry!!!"
-Kiyobi changes his attitude from angry to calm.
Kiyobi: "Come here."
-Kiyobi puts his arm around Cream and hugs closely.
Kiyobi: "I still love you like a sister. And like real family, only death will separate us."
Oh man... that felt so... cheezy and cliche'd...
???: "HELP!"
Kiyobi: "What was that?!"
???: "SOMEONE HELP!!!"
Cream: "That doesn't sound good..."
Kiyobi: "It's coming from there, come on!"
-Kiyobi & Cream arrive at a local mini-store, where a girl is seen with a broken arm and another girl crying for help.
Girl: "Excuse me, but can you help us? My friend just got hurt and we need an ambulance right away!"
Cream: "Don't you have a cellphone?"
Girl: "...no..."
Kiyobi: "I'll call an ambulance right away."
-Kiyobi pulls out his cellphone and dials for emergency.
Kiyobi: "Hello, Diamond Hospital? We have a girl with a broken arm in front of..."
-Kiyobi looks around.
Kiyobi: "...Higoku's Thrift Shop. Can you send an ambulance?"
Operator: "We'll send an ambulance your way."
Kiyobi: "Thank you!"
*click*
Girl: "Are they going to come?"
Kiyobi: "They said they're sending an ambulance right now."
Cream: "Let's get some ice for that arm."
Girl: "Thanks a lot, you two. I appreciate it. I don't think we were properly introduced?"
Kiyobi: "Oh, my name's Kiyobi. Kiyobi Kawazaki."
Cream: "I'm Cream Misute."
Girl: "I'm Luna Serbial, and she's Aero Suzuka."
Kiyobi: "Nice to meet you both... I guess?"
*Time cut*
-Ambulance arrives.
Nurse: "Where's the patient?"
-Nurse grabs Kiyobi and puts him on stretcher.
Kiyobi: "W-Wait!!! It's her! Not me!"
Nurse: "Oh... sorry."
-Kiyobi gets off as the nurse gets the girl with the broken arm.
Nurse: "Everything's going to be all right."
-Luna hops on the ambulance.
Luna: "Maybe we'll see each other soon?"
Cream: "What school do you go to?"
Luna: "I go to Diamond High."
Kiyobi: "Great! We'll see you on Monday then!"
Luna: "You go there too?! Great!"
Nurse: "Can you hurry? We need to rush her right away, miss."
Luna: "I'm sorry. Go on ahead."
Cream: "Bye!"
-Ambulance doors close and heads out.
Cream: "Those two seem nice huh, Kiyobi?"
I don't know about you... but the other girl...
Cream: "Kiyobi?"
What was her name? Aero... right?
Cream: "KIYOBI!!!"
I gotta get her number! And they go to Diamond High?! How come I never saw them before?!
Cream: "KIYOBI SNAP OUT OF IT!!!"
-Cream slaps Kiyobi.
Kiyobi: "What was that for?!"
Cream: "You were dazing off."
Kiyobi: "...right."
After that, we said our goodbyes and hugged for one last time before the night ended. We both headed back to where we lived and just pretty much called it a day there. All I did was eat dinner and watch TV for the rest of the night.
Xyrho: "So... how was the date?"
Kiyobi: "It was all... WHAT?! How did you know?!"
Hawk: "We found your letter in the trashcan."
*Insert sound of ironic despair here*
-Kiyobi slaps his face in disgust.
Great... trashpickers...
Kiyobi: "I'd rather not talk about it."
Xyrho: "Why not? Too embarrassed about it?"
Kiyobi: "No I'm not!"
Hawk: "Come on, give us the details!"
-Conversation continues as fade to black.

It's Sunday, and that means one big thing. Barltok is coming! He's a cool friend I met when we took a trip to New York City last year. Showed me all the stops, all the greatest places to eat... it just made the trip twice as good! Now he's spending a week at our city!
