They sat within the confines of the small room;

 

the wood damp and moldy, the air musty.

 

And with the rain pounding against the small window,

 

a heavy silence hung in the air.

 

“I'll tell you all a story,” Fai announced suddenly.

 

“I know a perfect one for a rainy day like this.”

 

And as he talked, his arms animatedly in the air

 

And his voice rose and fell like the tide.

 

And, despite its immaturity, Kurogane felt himself drawn into it.

 

And as he was drawn into a complex tale of hope and of despair,

 

he looked from the Sakura to Monoka to Syaoran.

 

And he began to wonder

 

if they were truly strangers.

 

Or if they were well-known companions with strange faces.
