Kazuki's chest rattled with every breath he took, his blood pooling on Shido's hands. “Ne…Shido…” His voice almost sounded wistful. “Do you think…maybe we'll get to go Outside?”

 

“Kazuki… you were born there…”

 

“Ah, but will I die there?”

 

“Don't talk like that…” But everyone was dead…Ginji, MakubeX, Masaki, Emishi…everyone. The Kiryuudo bastards had found him even here… Kazuki was dying in his arms and he had lost his family again because he wasn't strong enough-

 

“Shido…Is it raining?” There were drops of moisture on Kazuki's face.

 

“…Yeah, Kaz. It's raining.”

 

Kazuki smiled, and his eyes drifted closed, his breathing stopped, and Shido held his broken body tighter as he cried.

 

Shido woke up screaming.
