Opening Song- China Roses by Enya

Who can tell me if we have heaven

Who can say the way it should be;

Moonlight holly; the Sappho Comet,

Angel's tears below the tree.

You talk of the break of morning

As you view the new aurora,

Cloud in crimson, the key of heaven,

One love carved in acajou .

One told me of China Roses

One a Thousand nights and one night,

Earth's last picture, the end of evening;

Hue of indigo and blue.

A new moon leads me to Woods of dreams and I follow.

A new world waits for me;

My dream, my way.

I know that if I have heaven

There is nothing to desire.

Rain and river, a world of wonder

May be paradise to me.

I see the sun.. I see the stars..

It was early morning at the Misaki Shrine. The rainstorm the night before had left a clean smell to the outside world. Birds were chirping, and inside one of the upstairs bedrooms, nine-year old Sasami was just waking up from a death-like sleep. For the last few days, she had had a heavy fever, and everyone was worried about her.

It had all started a few days ago, when Ayeaka and Ryoko had been fighting over Tenchi, Sasami had fainted into Mihoshi's lap! She yelled, "Hey, everyone! Something's wrong with Sasami!" Ayeaka ran over, and stroked her forehead, and shouted, "Tenchi! Sasami has a fever!" Washu looked worried, "Hurry, and get her to my lab!" After running several tests, Washu said grimly, "Sasami has scarlet fever." "What," Ayeaka shrieked, "How did this happen?" Kiyonie sighed," We will need to take turns watching over her." That had settled it, and what had followed were long days and nights of worrying for the young girl.

As though she were waking from a death-like sleep, Sasami sat up, gasping for a fresh breath of air, her long blue hair pulled back into a bun. "Huh," she muttered, "where is everyone?" She took notice of the cold compress and the bowl of miso soup on the bedside table. Ryo-Ohki, her cabbit friend meowed happily when she saw Sasami. She smiled, "Hi! Where is everyone? I feel better, I think." Sasami put on a light pink sundress, and both she and Ryo-Ohki went downstairs. The house was empty! Sasami started to look around, but everyone was gone. Sasami felt sad, Where is everyone? Is it my fault that everyone left? That has to be it! Everyone left because I'm so weak, and I don't belong. She stated to cry loudly as she sat down on the couch. Ryo-Ohki meowed comfortingly, and pawed at the TV remote. Nothing good was on. Sasami felt all alone, and she went outside to think. The cabbit followed her.

Up on the roof, Sasami surveyed the land. The lake was still there, as was the shrine. She sighed, "Where do I belong in the family?" Ryo-Ohki meowed and jumped up to join her. Sasami smiled a bit, "At least we're together." The cabbit looked happy, as she smelled the carrots in the gardens. Sasami nodded: "I'll make us some lunch."

While eating some sushi, Ryo-Ohki heard something. She meowed and hissed at the air, and then bounded to the front door. Sasami looked up, "What's wrong, Ryo-Ohki?" She meowed that she had heard something weird, and that something was on the front stoop. She poked her head out, and sure enough it was a package!

Bringing it inside, Sasami looked at it carefully. It was small, no bigger than a toaster, and it was wrapped in dusty, brown paper. Opening it, Sasami was surprised to find a small box, with symbols written on it. Ryo- Ohki sniffed at it, and meowed indignantly because it wasn't a box of carrots. Sasami looked at it, and opened it. It was a CD-ROM with a gold Egyptian eye on it. On it was a small piece of paper. Sasami looked at it; "I can't read it, but I know I can translate it!" She ran into Tenchi's room, and opened up a book on ancient languages. The note was in Hebrew, and this is what it said: "In ancient times, The kings of Egypt played game that nearly destroyed the world. They were known as the Shadow Games. After the war, the good king, and his wife and friends died mysteriously."

Sasami looked on the other side of the parchment, and discovered that there was no more note. Suddenly, the note turned to ash on the table. Ryo-Ohki meowed in surprise. "What were the Shadow Games, and do they have anything to do with this game," Sasami mused, and placed it into the drive of Tenchi's laptop. A brilliant flash of light and heat followed, as the young girl and cabbit were sucked into the screen as the CD-ROM broke in two. In a dark chamber in one of the main temples, the High Priest Seto Kaiba sat deep in thought. He was in a trance remembering a dream he had. A young blue-haired girl had fallen from the sky, and she won the favor of the king and queen. He gritted his teeth. His plan to kill off the royal family and take over the world with the Shadow Games was not going to do well with the visitor around. Such a young child should be easy to kill. He sat up, and concealed a dagger up his sleeve, and left for the port.

Meanwhile, Sasami was still falling, or so she thought. She realized Ryo-Ohki had morphed into her ship form, and was flying over Earth. She was gaining speed over northern Africa and finally morphed back to regular when they landed. Sasami was amazed. Everything was lush, and there was a market nearby! Sasami was a bit hungry, and Ryo-Ohki was hopping off toward the market. So, off they went.

At the market, everything smelled delicious. Shopkeepers were giving out samples, so they ate until they were full. Everyone took notice of the young girl and her pet rabbit. Where were her parents, they wondered. Kaiba was already following her, and was waiting until she was in a secluded area, where he could kill her. Unfortunately, Ryo-Ohki had wandered off into a rougher neighborhood, and she meowed loudly, until Sasami caught up. Sasami walked through the streets, until she heard a loud voice, "Slaves! Get your slaves here! Best prices!" Sasami looked horrified, and then she saw something that made her absolutely sick in the stomach. "Mommy! Don't make me go," cried a little boy. "Mokuba," the woman screamed as a tall man dragged her away. "Stop it! You can't do that," Sasami shouted, jumping up on the platform. The overseer raised his whip, and lashed her against her face, Ryo-Ohki meowed and hissed, and jumped up also. Sasami grabbed Mokuba's hand, "Come on, let's get out of here!" They both jumped off the platform, and all three raced through the streets.

However, Kaiba found them first. "There you are, you little rat," he hissed. Ryo-Ohki meowed and swatted ant his leg, but he threw her into the Nile! "Mokuba, run," shouted Sasami, and he did. Kaiba took out his long, sharp dagger; "This ends now." Sasami cried out in pain, as he slashed her along her ribs, before he cut her left arm, and then he punched her in the eyes, as she struggled to fight back. Everything around her went black.

Kaiba threw her bloody body into the river, and headed back to the temple, where he washed his hands and sword. Meanwhile, Ryo-Ohki found Sasami. She turned into a log, and floated out into some bull rushes, before gong out into the river to find help before it was too late.

On the royal sail barge, the current king, Yami, and his lover, the Princess Tea, who were accompanied by Joey, a captain in the royal Army, were enjoying a quiet afternoon, when Tea heard Ryo-Ohki. She nudged Yami, who got up, and looked out to see what was meowing, and was very surprised to see a young girl, near death, floating on a log. Tea looked concerned; "Who is it?" Yami cradled Sasami, who now coughed and moaned: "I don't know. We have to get her back to the palace for medical attention." Tea nodded; "But, who is she, and where did she come from?" Joey looked over and said, "She is way too young to be by herself like this. And, what is that?" Ryo-Ohki meowed sweetly, and pawed at Sasami.

Back at the palace, a doctor was sent for, and a few hours later, he reported back to a nervous Yami and Tea, "She is going to be fine. Had a few cuts, but I have stopped the bleeding. It's a good thing she was found so soon. She was very close to death. She should wake up soon. I don't know where she is from, though. She's too well dressed to be a slave or a commoner. I can tell you that she is probably about nine years old." With that, he bowed and left. From the room, Sasami moaned softly, ". Ayeaka? Where are you?" Tea sat down on the floor next to her, and she placed a cold compress on her forehead; "Shhh. It's all right now. Your safe." Sasami struggled to sit up, "Where am I? And who are you guys?" Tea smiled, "I am Princess Tea, and he is my betrothed, Yami of Egypt." "I am Sasami Misaki, and I am from Japan." Ryo-Ohki meowed and jumped up on the bed. She purred contentedly. Yami chuckled, "Is this your pet? She saved your life." Sasami smiled and petted the now content cabbit. Joey walked in, "Sorry to interrupt, but Sasami, where are your folks?" Sasami looked upset, and said quietly, "My parents died a long time ago. I'm from another dimension. I was really sick for a while, and my older sister Ayeaka, and my friends left me alone." She started to cry, and Tea held her in her lap. A maid walked in announced that dinner was almost ready. Yami nodded to Tea, who turned to Sasami and said, "Why don't you change your clothes, and come to dinner?" "You really want me to eat with you," Sasami exclaimed, rather surprised. Tea smiled, "Of course."

A half-hour later, the banquet was served, and Yami and Tea sat down, followed by the royal court. Sasami entered, and she sat across from Tea. She had cleaned up a bit, and she was wearing a white dress, and brown leather sandals. Ryo-Ohki was back in the bedroom, eating carrots. Kaiba sat down was shocked to see Sasami at the table. His plan had failed. No matter, he told himself, time would reveal another way.

Meanwhile, everyone had returned from shopping, to find Sasami and Ryo-Ohki gone! Ayeaka was crying, while Tenchi was talking to the police, Ryoko and Washu were watching the news, and Mihoshi and Kiyonie just walked in, with grim looks. "We couldn't find her anywhere! I guess she was kidnapped or ran away," Kiyonie said sadly. "No, this can't be happening! She probably feels we have abandoned her," Ayeaka mused to herself. Up on the roof later that night, Ryoko looked up at the stars and said to herself, "Please Sasami, wherever you are, please be all right. We miss you so much. Please be okay."

That night, Sasami looked out the window and at the stars. A bright full moon shone over the ancient city. The stars looked much closer than they did back home, where everyone was. She sighed and thought about everyone back at home. Maybe they're all okay after all, she thought as she fell asleep. =============================================================== The next morning, Sasami woke up with a small headache, and was at first confused about where she was, and then she remembered yesterday's events. She shuddered, and Ryo-Ohki meowed as she jumped onto the bed. "Yeah," she said, "Let's get something to eat." She pulled on a dress and some sandals, and ran out the door to breakfast. Of course she nearly ran over Joey; "Where're you goin'?" "To eat breakfast," Sasami replied. "Okay, Tea and Yami sent for you about an hour ago." Sasami bowed politely, and hurried off to the throne room.

Yami and Tea were sitting on their thrones, while a priestess was telling them of the latest predictions, when Sasami walked in. The priestess turned to the royal couple, and bowed. Sasami walked up, and curtseyed. Tea smiled a little bit, " How did you sleep last night?" "Fine, thank you," was Sasami's quiet reply. Yami nodded, "Were you being schooled before you came here?" Sasami sighed, "I was, by my sister Ayeaka. We were on vacation because the Winter Festival lasts a whole week." Yami nodded, "Sasami, we need to teach you so you don't fall behind." "Really," Sasami exclaimed happily, "Oh, thank you! Thank you so much!" Tea smiled, "Your welcome." Joey entered with Kaiba, who was not happy to see Sasami. Kaiba just glared at Sasami, "Who's the little one?" "Oh," Yami told him, "This is Sasami, and she is going to be staying here for a while." Kaiba swallowed, "A while? How will she learn, if she is not from around here," He questioned menacingly. Tea sighed, "The Priestess, Serenity, will be her tutor. Why do you object?" Kaiba gulped. He had really dug himself into a hole this time! He bowed, made an abrupt about face, and left for his temple. Yami sweatdropped, and Sasami noticed he was hiding something in his left sleeve. Ryo-Ohki meowed and hissed at him, as he left. A young woman in her late teens entered, "Your highnesses, I am the tutor you sent for. You must be Sasami." She bowed in front of the young girl, who blushed deeply. NO one had ever bowed to her before. Serenity smiled, "We will begin in your room." Sasami nodded, "Okay." They left after a minute, and Yami kissed Tea tenderly.

Meanwhile, Kaiba was paying in front of the fire in his temple. There HAD to be a way to kill that girl, the king and queen, and the cabbit! He sat in thought, and an idea struck him. The Shadow Games were immensely popular. And he could hire someone to kill the king while they were dueling. That left the queen and the kid. He sighed contentedly. He would bide his time, and then he would strike.

About two hours after lunch, Sasami finished her daily lesson. Serenity bowed and left for her temple, leaving Sasami all alone in her room. She decided to look around, and she discovered a small cabinet. Inside was a small jeweled scarab necklace. She opened the wings, and inside was a small fresco of the universe, and it played a sweet lullaby. Putting it on, she decided to read some of the papyrus scrolls in her room. They were rather long and hard to understand, but Sasami had learned enough of the words, that she could get the gist of what was being talked about. Joey walked in, "Hey, Sasami, you are needed in the garden." "Why, did Ryo- Ohki eat all the carrots," she asked. Joey grinned, "Nah! Yami and Tea are getting married, and you have to be the witness.

Sasami hurried out to the garden, where the two lovers were about to say their vows. Sasami took her place behind Tea, who was blushing deeply. Serenity saw a few words, and Yami kissed Tea tenderly. Sasami and Ryo-Ohki smiled, and they congratulated the two. However, their newfound happiness would not last long. Three months quickly passed for everyone. Sasami learned a lot about Ancient Egypt, and she became much more independent by going to town on her own, and she enjoyed learning about the different gods and goddesses. Joey got promoted to General, and his sister, Serenity, got married to an old war buddy. But, Tea and Yami got the best news. Tea learned that she was pregnant! She was still excited by the news during lunch, when Yami asked her why she was putting pepper on her roast lamb. Sasami giggled a bit and said, "Are you pregnant, Tea?" Yami looked over at his wife, and she nodded, blushing. Yami pulled her close, and kissed her passionately. "We're going to have to decide on some names," he told her. Tea smiled, "If it's a girl, I want to name her Kiseki, and if it's a boy, I want to name him Yosho." "Sounds good to me," Yami told her. Sasami grinned, "When are you going to have your baby?" Tea smiled, "Not for another few months, Sasami." She smiled and Ryo-Ohki meowed, and offered Tea her half-eaten carrot. The Queen smiled, and accepted it.

News of Queen Tea's pregnancy spread fast, and soon everyone was hoping for the heir of the throne to be healthy. Kaiba decided that it was time to put his plan into action. First he would call Yami to a duel. While he was dueling, he would send a hired assassin to kill Tea, and with help of the Millenium Eye, steal the soul of her unborn child. Also, he would have to kill Sasami. The time had come.

That next morning, Kaiba sent in invite to Yami, requesting a duel. Yami reluctantly agreed, not wanting to leave Tea alone. She assured him she would be fine, and so he left. When he got there, he shouted, "Kaiba, I'm here. Let's duel!" Suddenly, he legs were shackled to the platform, and an evil laugh rang from the other end. A hooded figure appeared, "I am Mailk Ishtar, and you have the pleasure of being my final victim." Yami suddenly realized that this was trap! Sasami and Tea were in danger! He glared at Malik; "We will duel."

Meanwhile, the infamous tomb robber, Bakura, was sneaking along the hallways so he could kill the queen, and steal her child's soul. However, Sasami was in Tea's room, talking about the coming infant. Ryo-Ohki meowed, and Sasami left the room to get a carrot. Bakura dashed in, and knocked Sasami to the floor. Tea screamed as Bakura slit her throat and she slowly sank to the floor as the Millenium Eye glowed and a card formed, with the picture of a baby girl appeared. "No," yelled Sasami, as she grabbed a sword, and she stabbed the murderer through the stomach. He fell over onto the floor. Sasami ran over to Tea, "Tea, come on! You have to live!" Tea sighed heavily, "Please, Sasami, I'm sorry. Never forget.where you're. from.."

Meanwhile, Kaiba took a torch and burned a fresco. "There you are," shouted Sasami angrily, "Your gonna pay for all the people you killed today!" Kaiba smirked, "I don't think so. You have to fight me first, little girl." Sasami pulled out the blade, and Kaiba pulled out his dagger, but before he could pull a move, she stabbed him in the heart. "Don't think you've won yet! Yami will die, and so will you," Kaiba murmured as he fainted. Sasami cried, and as the smoke got thicker, Sasami headed back to Tea's room, where she found the card laying on the floor. She stuck it in her pocket, grabbed the bloodied sword and stabbed herself in the stomach.

Meanwhile, Yami had lost the duel, and was killed by Mailk, who sealed his soul into the Millenium Puzzle. Everything was working to plan, until Joey charged him, but got decapitated on the spot.

Sasami's limp, bloody body fell from the balcony, when Ryo-Ohki changed into her ship form, caught Sasami, and took off. Sasami moaned as her companion tried to get back to their own dimension. All of the sudden, the necklace glowed, and Sasami's wounds healed, and a portal opened. Ryo- Ohki meowed happily and off they went.

After what seemed like forever, Sasami woke up. She was back at the Misaki Shrine! She looked down at her dress that was rather ragged. The necklace was still around, and she ran towards the house. Everyone was watching TV, when Ryoko sat up, "Hey! Someone's coming!" Everyone ran outside, and sure enough, there was Sasami and Ryo-Ohki running towards the house. Ayeaka greeted her with a hug, and said, "Oh, Sasami, we missed you so much!" Sasami nodded, "Its good to be home." Tenchi grinned, "Welcome back! Where were you?" Sasami thought for a minute and said, "I was visiting friends for a while." Ayeaka smiled, "You're going to be an aunt soon!" "Really," Sasami gasped, "Will it be a boy or a girl?" Tenchi grinned, "Its going to be a girl." "Can we name her Kiseki," Sasami asked. Washu nodded, "Good idea. You know someone named that?" "You could say that," Sasami muttered. Later that night, Ryo-Ohki couldn't sleep, so Sasami played the locket until she did. Sasami thought, I wonder if I will ever see them again. She took the card out of her pocket. The baby looked just like Tea. She smiled, "I have to return a favor to them. I will go back someday, I promise." Turning off the light, she soon fell asleep. Closing Song: On my way home, by Enya

I have been given

One moment from heaven As I am walking Surrounded by night, Stars high above me Make a wish under moonlight.

On my way home I remember Only good days. On my way home I remember all the best days. I'm on my way home I can remember Every new day.

I move in silence With each step taken, Snow falling round me Like angels in flight, Far in the distance, is my wish under moonlight.
