~Across the Border of Popularity~

~Chapter Two: All Feelings Considered~

Jou sighed as he lay down on his bed. Closing his eyes, intending to get to sleep, Jou's mind was filled with a certain someone… Someone with crimson eyes an the most alluring voice… Jou mentally groaned. I'm thinking of Yami. Yami out of all the people! Why though? I'm acting like I love…Jou paused. No! He doesn't love me, so even if I tell him… But then, why'd he call me Katsuya? With those thoughts whirling around in his head, Jou quickly fell asleep.

* Jou's Dream *

A warm, rich laugh rang in Jou's ears as a certain multi-color haired person kissed him, exploring the inside of his mouth. "I love you Katsuya," Yami whispered, nuzzling Jou's neck softly.

"Yami…" Jou whispered, as he cuddled up to the other teen, "Yami…"

"Aishiteru koi…"

There was a sudden whirlwind of colors as the scene changed rapidly. Now Jou was hovering above his dream, watching in horror as a brown haired girl kissed Yami passionately.

"Yami…" Jou whispered, tears flowing down his cheeks, "Yami!"

The scene changed again, and now Jou could see Seto, Yami and himself wrapped around three other girls.

Jou clutched his head. Please, make it stop, he prayed, please!

* End Jou's Dream *

Jou woke up sweating, face flushed as he tried to remember the dram. But all he could recall was the whisper of Yami's voice. "I love you Katsuya…"

"Argghh," he cried, "why is this happening?!"

There was a ring from his phone, and Jou wearily picked it up. "Hello, you have reached Jonouchi Katsuya's room, I am currently unavailable, please leave a message after the beep. BEEP."

"Aww, come on Jou, I know you're there," Yugi's cheery voice sounded from the ear piece. "Please Jou?"

"Hey Yugi," Jou replied, flopping back onto his bed. "Anything wrong?"

"Seto's invited me, you, Ryou, Malik, Marik, Bakura, and Yami to the Moon Festival!" Yugi chirruped. Jou smiled. He could almost see his friend bouncing up and down on his bed in anticipation.

"Sure pal, I'll come."

"Great! It's in two weeks, but Seto says that planning ahead is good. We're meeting each other at the Domino Pond around 5 PM, and see if you can stay until after 7 PM, that's when the fireworks start! Seto says that it'll be the best set of fireworks ever!"

"Great Yugi, can't wait!" Jou answered, and hung up with a `goodbye.'

And Yami's coming too, he thought, pulling his covers up, yeah, Yami's coming too…

*

Yami pulled out the key to his house, and turned it. Once inside his amazingly clean apartment, Yami headed for his room. Opening his door, Yami was greeted by his familiar surroundings: a room painted midnight blue with a hint of crimson, a bed covered with black sheets. His computer sat on his dark blue desk, set into standby mode. Flopping down on his bed, Yami tried to gather his feelings on the blonde haired boy he had met today.

"Katsuya," Yami whispered, liking the way Jou's name rolled around in his mouth. "Katsuya Jonouchi…"

The phone rang near his bedside dresser, and Yami picked it up. "Moshi moshi, Yami speaking."

"Hey Yami," Bakura greeted, stretching himself on his bed.

"Same here Bakura, why'd you call?"

"Yugi and Seto have invited all of us to the Moon Festival two weeks in advance." Bakura rolled his eyes, mimicking Seto's voice eerily close to the real thing. "`Planning ahead is good.'"

Yami chuckled a bit. Talking with Bakura was always fun, even though he could become slightly crazy and psychotic. The demon-like teen was Yami's first friend, after Yami had accidentally tripped over Ushiro, the hall moniter's shoes. Bakura had been passing by, and knocked Ushiro unconscious. They had been best friends ever since, apart from the time that Yami had gotten the role of pharaoh in their fifth grade school play, and Bakura was a tomb robber. The two hadn't spoken to each other for months, until Bakura this time ran into Ushiro, to be aided by Yami. Now if the two argued, Bakura would call Yami `Pharaoh' and Yami would call him `tomb robber.'

"So, where's Ryou?" Yami asked, curious what Bakura was doing at the moment.

"Back at his home Yami. You didn't actually expect me to take him home did you?"

"No, you just strike me as someone who would fuck the most beautiful person you could get close too."

Bakura huffed at Yami, and both stayed silent for a few minutes.

"So, did you, in the past few minutes sort out your feelings for Jou?" Bakura asked, breaking the silence.

Recognition dawned on Yami. "I was supposed to be thinking about that?"

Bakura rolled his eyes. "Duh, Yami, you know that I'd rather talk than stay silent for Ra knows how long."

"Get out of the habit then Bakura."

Bakura tsked. "Back to the main discussion, how do you feel about Jou?"

"You mean Katsuya?"

"You two are on a first name basis! Congrats!"

"We're JUST friends Bakura!" But Yami, deep down, knew that he had a different feeling for Jou.

Bakura sensed the expression on his friend's face, and smiled. "Well now, if in two weeks your feelings haven't changed, you can tell Jou exactly how you feel about him."

Yami looked surprised. "Why in two weeks? I can just tell him tomorrow when I see him at school, can't I?"

"In two weeks it's the Moon Festival, Yami, as I said before! And it's a romantic place to confess your love. Besides, if your feelings do change for Jou, you can save yourself the heart wrenching work dumping Jou. Anyway, Seto and Yugi have invited all of us to the festival at exactly 5 PM! And," Bakura prodded, "Jou will be there."

Yami blushed profusely. "All right, I'll come!" He hung up quickly before Bakura could note the slightly out of breath reply he had made.

Bakura grinned, and dialed Marik's phone number. "Marik," he said, "Phased One complete."

Marik, on the other line, grinned. "Excellent. In two weeks at the festival, we will commence with Phase Two: Operation Yami and Jou Pairing. If they still love each other."

Bakura smiled. "Don't worry Marik, Yami and Jou love each other too much to change their feelings. Ugh, that sounded so sappy!"
