[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Aqua's Decision

I snap awake
as the screams of females enter my mind,
it takes only a moment to realize
that the screams I am hearing
are not from my dreams.
The screams are very real,
and are coming from outside.

I leap out of bed and pull on
my light blue pants,
tunic,
and white belt.
I rush from my room,
grabbing my katana on the way.
The sight before me stops me in my tracks.

I slowly become unaware of
the biting autumn air
nipping at my pale skin,
the cold gray stones
freezing my bare feet,
the dew caressed grass
tickling my ankles,
and the small puffs of my hurried breath
disappearing to the wind.

All I am aware of is the man that I call
father
and the intruder.
They both move into the oh so familiar fighting stance,
and prepare to draw their swords.
They are only aware of each other,
a dark mist surrounds my father
and I become afraid.

"Father!"

"Stay back!"

I watch as they quickly draw swords
the medal flashing in the moonlight.
They charge and for a moment
the breathe I am holding releases
it looks like he will win.
However,
before I could do anything
the attacker stabs my father in the side.

I scream running forward
catching him as he falls.
My tears stream down my face like rivers
he walks away
laughing
and taunting.

I blink and stare down
at the man
that I have come to love.
My master.
My father.
One of the Geisha's lay a hand on my shoulder,
she gives me a sad smile and shakes her head.

He will not wake up.

I stare down at his still form
as my vision becomes clouded with blood.
I clench my hands tightly and my nails dig into my skin,
drawing rivers of blood.
The pain and shock startles me
out of my craving for blood.

I turn and look in the mirror
realizing how angry and ethereal I look.
What was it that man had said?

"This is your fault,
you weren't ready to fight me."

"Well bastard,"
I think.
"I'm ready for you now."
