Prologue

Rose smiled as she entered the park. It felt like coming home; reminding her of the woodlands in her hometown of Quarryville. That park was where she fled when things seemed to fall apart in her world. She'd run there after every fight with her mom, after every rejection, and after every time she'd been let down. She felt safe there, felt loved and appreciated. To her, it was everything she'd lacked from her family at home. This park so reminded her of that place; but she knew that they had no connection. After all, Tokyo and Quarryville were very far apart.

She strolled down the paved paths, silently adoring the beautiful scenery around her. Rose walked on for nearly two more miles when she spied a small dirt path nearly hidden between the brush. Her curiosity got the better of her as she passed by, then turned and examined it closer.
