Decent beginning, with lots of potential. One thing I would caution you about is the villain, Zera: don't make him too perfect or much smarter than the rest of the cast. He should be formidable, but not annoying. (OCs are the hardest, really.) Other than that, this could be a good fanfic, and possibly one of those rare action-adventure/duelfics that don't make me want to spork my eyes out.
