The idea for the story was very well thought up, and you didn't lose the sense of political intrigue and realism until the end. I love that! Your syntax and descriptions were a bit awkward, and try to reveal the characters' feelings a little more subtly, rather than stating them outright, to maximize drama. I loved the plot and I hope you can write another one like this one soon.
