Ooooohhhh I like this. Very sexyily delicious; not something I'd consider a true PWP probably because of its great language and flow. It's not raunchy or over-the-top; it's smooth and tasteful while still having that bit of awesome sexy quality. The ending was a nice surprise, too - a hint of the mystic without getting too entrenched in it. I don't know of a single writer who does songfics with the grace and skill you do. You don't just look at lyrics; you don't just slap words together and throw a short semi-plot in there. You utilize the intent, the feel of the song; unlike with others, I actually hunt it down to listen to while I read, and find it enhances the story. I can see a bit where word choice may intimidate younger or less-focus readers ("periphery," for example) - they fit really well with your flow and work well for your older, more intrigued readers but may be something that encourages people to pass this by (sadly enough).

Have I mentioned before that you're really good at writing songfics? You have a real knack for that genre, which most people seem to lack. You're also quite good at writing erotica... there are quite a few authors in this fandom that could learn from your example, both in this fic and your other works. I don't know that I'd call this particular fic a PWP, although I know that's what you were going for, because it doesn't really read like porn, it reads like there's more to it than dirty words or cheap titillation or wish-fulfillment fantasy. It feels lush and sensual and beautifully descriptive, rather than tasteless or porny. That said, the descriptions did feel a bit over the top in a couple of places, and the ending made me headtilt just a little (I have to admit, this sort of sexual fantasy isn't really my thing), but overall this is a lovely fic and I'd say you've done a good job of writing a sexual encounter between these two, in an AU no less, and keeping everything in-character and engaging.

Ah! The elusive dream lover made flesh. Very nice PWP--the kind that makes you forget there isn't a real plot. ^_^ (And just what the doctor ordered with the surprise happy ending, too. Tis the season, so I'm glad to see Kagome get her wish. LOL!)
