Nice job on this one-shot. Sort of a recycled plot device, but aren't they all by this point in time? So I say good job making it your own! As for Inuyasha's name...I've heard this rumor before, but I think it's fairly safe to say this is a mistranslation. Think about it...why would a serious, boy's comic strip have the main leading male character named 'girl'? That's not something a born and raised Japanese author would do by mistake, and I just don't see why she would do it on purpose. If it were a comedy, perhaps... But the problem with Japanese is that there are a plethora of words that sound the same but mean different things depending on the Kanji used, so if you try to translate something just based on either a Romaji or Hiragana spelling, then you could very easily end up with the wrong definition. In this instance, the Kanji used for Yasha is a Buddhist term that means "friendly spirit" or "forest spirit", so his name would most closely translate as "dog forest spirit", hence the whole 'Inuyasha no Mori' theme, Inuyasha's Forest. Yes, in the story that section of woods was given that name by the villagers because of his presence sealed on the Goshinboku, but if you had a forest spirit sleeping in your neck of the woods, wouldn't you name that patch of forest after him? That being said...if you wanted to do a crack-fic type comedy about his name meaning 'female dog demon', I think it would be hilarious! You could play off of the angle of mistranslations, and have somebody else mistakenly think that's what his name means and confront him about it, and he has to (yet again, hence his bitter attitude) defend himself and set them straight. I certainly haven't ever seen that done before, so I think it'd be funny. :-)
