I've always felt that pre-resurrection Kikyo had a soul, and may have acted very differently from the entity-Kikyo later on. She saved Onigumo, and pitied him, a little like Kagome pities even the evil. Get a soul and all bets are off.
I wonder if Kagome would crave normality if she'd never had it. Kagome had fifteen years, and Kikyo had none.
Hm... A lot of people go with the "Kikyo was using Inuyasha so that she wouldn't have to guard the jewel anymore angle," but I think this is more on mark -- at the very least, she believed that she loved him.
This is new and insightful: Kikyo wanted Inuyasha to become human 1. to purify the jewel and 2. to prove that he was for real about her! Wow! |

In the flashback with Inu-chan, it sure looked like adult humans, and that Inuyasha was trying to join in on their ball game.
In ep seven or so, I'd think that perhaps too much time has elapsed for Inuyasha's mother to be alive... But he could have killed her.
