Ugh, I'm not the type to bawl at every single sad thing that comes out, but I got a lump in my throat from reading this. This was beautiful. I suppose Kenshin had always tactitly assumed that he'd be the first one to go. You can feel his disorientation and grief when it's Kaoru who leaves them first. The last part where he talks with Death is what really sealed it for me, where there's weariness on his part with a certain quiet happiness at finally being allowed to rest and meet his wife again. Very poignant. This was amazing. I hope you'll consider writing another RK fic. :)
