Heh...much like Scrooge, I managed to change my mind by the end of this fic. ^_^;
The first chapter of this fic was VERY difficult to get into. The "once upon a time" feel of narrative felt awkward and out of place, and the absence of apostrophe's in possessive nouns made it frustrating and stilted.
However, I'm glad I kept going. The view shifted closer to an objective third person than an abstract third person, and it brought the reader closer into the story. The pace picked up, and it became much more like the lively anime it's based around. It's also a good reflection of Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol" as it was meant to be.
The spelling seemed to be ok throughout, but the annoying trend of missing apostrophes that started in the first chapter continued on into later chapters, even though they did become more scattered. There were also a few grammar/sentence structure errors that kind of tripped up the pace of the story.
There are many, many adaptations of "A Christmas Carol" out there, and this one kind of followed the same track. ChiChi was an interesting choice of character for the role of the miser, but it was a bit difficult for me to completely (mentally) put her in the role because of hints in the actual series that point in the opposite direction.
This fic was above average to good in enjoyment, in my opinion. "A Christmas Carol" has been one of my favorite Christmas classics for a long time, and I'm always trying out new versions to find ones that appeal to me. I've seen some that I've completely hated and some that I adored, and this falls in between to the "I'm willing to read this again next Christmas" position.
