Wow, how long has it been? My last comment here was posted in May of 2005 (one very rushed little note by siluria). I stopped checking back after a while; I thought this had been abandoned. I moved on, forgot, and two or three fandoms went by until I suddenly remembered at 4am last night that there was this memorable FMA story I'd read and re-read, and had to get up to find it again before it slipped my mind. I was sure, if I looked long enough, I would recognize it by title - and I did. So here I am, delighted to find out that two more chapters have since been added (even though, this time, it has nearly been a year since the last update and this time I might not be wrong). So, as I read through the first six chapters yet again and moved on to the final two, it occurred to me that Ed so willingly agreeing to stay with Roy, rather than pursue his brother, isn't terribly characteristic at all and requires a certain suspension of disbelief. We know him as the sort who put his brother before all else, and it seems, therefore, that he would go out of his way to try to arrange a meeting, regardless of any danger involved. He gave up far too easily. I do understand the reasoning, that he's needed more at Roy's side, but he hasn't seen his brother in two years after sacrificing everything for him, when his brother was essentially the reason for everything he did up to that point. But I don't feel as though that detracts from the overall story; it seems to be a convenient plot device to keep the focus on the two central characters and their circumstances, and I rather prefer things this way. In any case, the intelligence of the story is its greatest attraction to me - the way each reaction is carefully described and analyzed, either from an outside perspective or by another character, and the way everything has a plainly defined reason in the first place. It really isn't what I expect of a piece of fanfiction. Rather, the style is instead something I might expect from a published novel... and, as someone who is entirely illiterate when it comes to designing a believable and original plot, I hold a great deal of respect for those who succeed where I fail, as this undeniably does. Undoubtedly I will find my way back here a few months, or even years, down the road, and maybe I will find out that I was mistaken again in my assumptions that it will remain unfinished. Regardless, thank you for creating something worthwhile to revisit, something that has apparently made its way into the back of my mind as a fond memory. This is exactly what keeps me reading fanfiction in the first place - wading through the bad stories can be painful, but it's all worthwhile when I stumble across a gem.

This story is pretty cool, its very intersting so...in other words. I LOVE IT. You did a good job of keeping them in charaecter and all but I do have a question, is this an Ed/Roy pairing? I'm not much into that kind of pairing but I like this story so much, already, that I wouldn't be able to stop reading, lol.

What a wonderful Christmas suprise! I swear that I will faithfully follow until you finish this. I enjoyed your characterization of Fury - a gentle man taken out of his depth by circumstance. Add the possible reunion of the Mustang gang and this only gets better. May you have a wonderful New Year and may your typing speed never decrease!

I applaud your return! The keeping both men fairly in character while doing this slow dance of seduction is a piece of work I can only admire. I will be very interested to see if these two can heal each other while they try to heal their nation. Please, Please, don't make us wait another six months for an update! As an afterthought - it would be easier to write reviews without the spam filter -this has been kicked back to me three times! Jay aka Mauztattoo

Hey, not bugging you to update, but I just wanted to let you know how much I like the fic, and I'd love to see it continued!!! I mean, your characterization of Ed is just incredible! The chemistry is enough to give ME goosebumps, LOL. Again, not bugging, just saying I REALLY like your style, and your take on this pairing. The plot (and there's actually a PLOT - bonus!) is original, and intelligent. I love the hint of romance, the darkness, the danger, and the suspense! My favorite character has always been Ed, but your angsy Roy has me half-in-love with him, too, LOL. Anyway, thanks for the lovely fic. =^-^= Shaynie M.

Wow. I am entranced by this story and I hope you follow through to the end. I particularly like the slow dance of emotion between the two men - much more real than the "hump me, jump me" usual road. I think you have a great presence.

Awsome Chapter! Poor Ed is so confused... too bad his stubborn attitudes won't let him just give in and enjoy what's being offered. I can see why I'm not in politics... everything you mentioned had my head swimming! Don't mind me though, I confuse easily... LOL I just love how Roy keeps Ed off balance by not doing what the boy expects... it's hilarious to watch Ed stumble around! Update soon, ok? I can't get enough of this one!

This is great! I love Ed's reaction to Roy. It is exactly if not better then what I expected. You are a fantastic writer! I also think that the way Roy explained himself was excellent. This is good and I'm so excited!!! I can't wait for you to update. This is one of my favorite stories!!

Yet another wonderful chapter! I feel honored that you would include me in your closing notes... I think I may finally have a handle on my insomnia! Things are finally looking better for me, thanks for the note of concern. You know, you posted all the wonderful things you and Kelly wrote to each other, and left me nothing to comment on! The way you wrote the "proposition", as I'll call it, from Roy to Ed was very refreshing, I agree with Kelly. Too many authors by that time would have Ed like a puddle of goo... and I agree, Ed as a uke doesn't seem quite right. However, I can see him starting out as one simply because all the sexual intimacy would be too new to him, and he wouldn't really know what to do. But I can see him picking up easily from what Roy would be doing, and then being eager to copy and explore and experiment in return, and I can also see Roy giving in to that as well. In the semi-dream sequence, it seemed to me that he is a sensualist... so he would enjoy feeling what Ed would have to offer. I could easily see them eventually taking turns being seme. Update soon, ok? I'm gonna love the Roy torture for the next month!

I always love it when I can give something straight tens. ^.~ I sat down to review this (in the wild hopes that doing so would inspire another chapter ^^), and looking at the five categories offered, I realized - you've scored perfect marks so far in all of them. (The only one that I might be even an eensy bit unsure of is the Spelling & Grammar - but damned if I remember seeing anything wrong!) Some congratulations are in order, ne? *throws some confetti* The first chapter was a nice little angst bath, but the ray of hope at the end was perfect. You've also got some really interesting progression of the characters going on; especially in the evolution of Roy, who's obviously becoming much better (and a little more human, hm?) through Ed's influence. I'm happiest to give you the ten in the Originality/Creativity category, though, because frankly, you've taken what could have been an extremely boring/clichéd scenario and made it pretty damn interesting. ^^ So, politics next, eh? This should be interesting . . . :P I hope Edward gets whacked by the proverbial two-by-four soon, though - Mustang isn't going to stay silent for forever. Or maybe he will . . .O.o (I hope not, though.) Peace! (And sorry ahead of time if this thing comes out as a giant block of text - media miner's formatting is so weird sometimes . . . -.-) ~ TD

I am definitely waiting for you to continue this. A really wonderful fic--the characters are definitely different, but totally believable in the situtation they've found themselves in. Keep it up!

I think that was the strangest, most backhanded intimate moment I'd ever read... leave it to those two to make it such too! *shakes head, chuckling* It's just too amusing! Keep up the great writing, I look forward to the next chapter!

Awsome... politics? This should prove to be interesting! At least Roy is getting better. He's much closer to human now. He does need a bigger bed... LOL I have a cat that does the same thing as Ed does! No sooner than you roll over or move, he takes the whole damn bed... and I have a double! I can't wait until you get the next chapter up... Say, when is Ed gonna notice Roy the same way? Those two could prove to be quite the pair! Update soon, ok?

Sorry that I didn't review the last chapter... but I'll review now! This one was a surprise... I knew that Roy was depressed to the point of being a drunk, but I didn't realize how much he was trying to carry on his shoulders! To try to kill himself... he's feeling quite shitty indeed. Thank the gods that Ed's there... I do hope he gets through the man that there are other things to work towards... he just has to look for them is all. I can't wait for the next update!
