Story Chase
Today was Sunday. Bridget always covered downtown events on Sunday. Some were boring, some were grand. Today was a grand event. The girls at London University were having a beauty contest to raise money for the tsunami victims in India. Bridget was going to the first one on the set. Finally! Some exciting coverage after weeks of boredom! This was hot!
“Hiya, my fine bird!” a voice spoke up. Bridget froze in aggravation. She didn’t have to turn to see who it was.
“What, James?” she snapped. The man walked closer. He leaned over his ex-girl. Bridget was annoyed.
“Get away James!” she snapped.
“Aw come on,” her ex said. “Don’t be harsh.” Bridget rolled her eyes. She pushed his hand off of her shoulder. James looked hurt.
“Aw, I just wanted to say I’d be downtown with you.” he spoke up. Bridget froze.
“You… downtown… with me?” she asked. James nodded. That joy died fast and hard. No. No! This couldn’t be! Bridget put her head down and sighed. Just great, her happiness was gone.
The downtown was busy. The beauty queens were getting ready for the contest. Bridget couldn’t help but watch. She felt envy for their thinness. She wished to be their size too. But then, Bridget straightened up and kept face. She was here to do a job, not to watch. And neither thinness nor James would ruin it.
Bridget walked up to a contestant. She was a gorgeous redhead. She looked perfect. Lovely red locks, pale skin, great curves, and sweet green eyes. Her red prom dress completed her look. Bridget felt jealous all over again. But she swallowed her pride again and got to work.
“Hi miss,” the journalist spoke up. The contestant looked up.
“Yes?” she asked gently.
Bridget smiled. She seems nice, she thought. “I’m with the British Royal News,” she began.
The girl’s eyes lit up. “Fabulous!” she chirped. Bridget smiled.
“I heard this contest was for a good cause.” she went on.
“Yes,” the contestant said. “We are helping the poor victims in India.”
“Wonderful,” Bridgey chirped back. As they talked, things went smoothly.
James, on the other hand, was a train wreck. You see, he was a bit of a pervert. The man kept flirting with the contestants. Most of them were offended. Some found it cute.
Bridget just rolled her eyes. Skirt-chaser! It always made her sick, but the woman tuned her ex out and got back to work.

Ten more minutes ‘til show time. Bridget and James were excited. This would be a show! Oh, the anticipation!
Finally, the curtain rose. Showtime! The journalists were ready. Time to win the bonus. The host stepped forward. He was a young college lad. He was casually dressed with jeans and a t-shirt. He was pretty shy too.
Just relax, the guy thought. This is for a good cause. The lad breathed in hard.
“Good afternoon.” he spoke up. “Welcome to our third annual beauty pageant.” The British Royal News soaked in every word of the host’s speech like a sponge to water. This would score big! Bridget and James could feel it in their souls.
“And here are the contestants!” the host exclaimed. Then the ladies stepped onto the stage. James was drooling. Bridgey rolled her eyes.
Pervert! She sometimes wondered why he was still here. Nathan needs to fire him! He’s just a skirt-chaser!
All started normal. The host introduced the contestants to the audience. Bridget felt proud. This would be a big step in her career. James began to walk forward. He was turned on.
Fine-looking birds! Very fine! James walked closer. He was like a dog in heat. Their hot bodies were teasing him.
Bridget looked up. She spotted James snaking his way through the crowd to the contestants. She rolled her eyes.
Lust puppy! How pathetic!
James kept walking. His desire grew higher. Hot birds! Then the journalist reached out his hand to the blonde’s bum. Bridgey grew worried. She went after him in a heartbeat. I’ve got to stop him!
The next few seconds went by so fast. James grabbed the blonde’s are tightly. The constant screamed loudly. She struck him hard. James fell back onto Bridget, sending them falling hard to the floor. Bridgey screamed as she fell. The cameramen grew nervous. The crowd stared at the fallen journalists.
“Ow!” James yelled.
“Get off me!” Bridget cried. Her ex grinned.
“Thanks for breaking my fall darling.” he said. Bridget grew disgusted.
“Get off!” she yelled again as she pushed him off. James hit the floor hard. The host laughed nervously.
“Uh…” he spoke up. “Let’s continue.”
The rest of day was uneasy. Bridget was sick with worry and disgust. This was strike one with James. She hated him for his lecherous ways. That was one of the reasons they broke up. She couldn’t take his flirtations. Bridgey wanted a faithful man not a dog.
The swimsuit portion came up. Bridget was on her game. James could strike again. He was unpredictable. So she had to keep watch.
Sure enough, James was at it again. But this time Bridget was ready. She tightly grabbed his arm.
“Don’t even try it!” she hissed. James looked hurt.
“Aw Bridgey…” he said. His ex ignored him. James blushed. She’s hot when she pissed, he thought. His love for her was immortal. He loved her even if she didn’t feel the same.
The swimsuits paraded again in front of the audience. James couldn’t help but drool.
Pathetic, Bridget thought. She rolled her eyes. Just stupid! James turned to Bridget. He loved her sour looks. It almost turned him on. Okay, completely turned him on. He wanted her more than ever. James just had to have Bridget.
James let his fingers travel down to Bridgey’s bum and pinched it hard. Bridget tried not to scream. James grinned at her reaction. So he did it again. Bridgey clinched her teeth hard.
“Stop!” she hissed.
“Why?” James asked. Bridgey glared at him. James went down her thigh.
“Stop!” Bridget snapped under her breath. James just smiled. He loved teasing her. It was his thing. Her ex began lightly rubbing her thigh.
“Quit!” Bridget hissed again. She wanted to let go now. But to do that would mean unleashing the beast. Now, let’s see. Chaos with the contestants or suffer. Which was better? Bridgey decided to grin and bear and hold on. James was pleased.
He moved his hand up her skirt. Here we go, James thought. Bridget’s ex gave her one tight pinch. Bridgey screamed aloud.
“Ouch, you bastard!” she yelled. Everyone turned to Bridget and James.
When Bridgey looked, she was red and mortified. James was smiling. The host looked over at them.
“Is there a problem?” he asked. James and Bridget became serious.
“No.” they said quickly.
“All right…” the host said. The contest resumed.
The rest of the day was a fiasco. James kept flirting around with Bridget and the contestants. It was a bloody hassle to chase him. Bridgey ended up with a huge migraine. She just wanted the contest and the day to be over quickly.
Just get me out of here, Bridgey thought.
-------
By Monday, the story of the contest spread like wildfire. Bridget wished she could make herself disappear. This was bad for her reputation. James was boasting about all of the girls he met yesterday. The guys were all jealous while the birds were disgusted. Bridgey wanted to strangle him so badly.
“Bridget!” a voice above called. Bridgey looked up. Nathan stood over her.
“Oh hi, sir,” Bridgey said as she blushed. Nate smiled.
“Got another assignment for you,” he said.
“Is James on it too?” Bridget asked.
“No,” her boss said. Bridgey’s face lit up.
“I’m on it!” she exclaimed. The journalist leapt to her feet and hurried down to the main room. Finally, a chance to see the top and James wasn’t going to ruin it!
I will shine! She marched on in triumph. Oh yeah! She could taste victory now!
Shine On Girl!
