Eh, I can tell the difference. Also in rumiko Takahashi's original style and color use Kagome has navy blue hair and electric blue eyes while Kiko still has black hair and brown eyes, so I personally doubt it was ever intended they look all that much alike-in fact in the anime and a bit in the manga as well there are scenes where Sango looks more like Kikyo then Kagome in my opinion.
