I stepped outside and walked to the edge of the porch. The scene was
so peaceful. The sun was high in the soft, blue sky. I stared at the
sky for several moments, watching as the wispy clouds slowly made
their way across the azure well. A soft breeze caused the branches of
the cherry tree to rustle slightly. I shifted my attention, taking in
the sight. Small rays of sunlight peeked through the pink blossoms,
giving the tree a rosy glow.

<Such a shame that the tree will only blossom for a short time>

I stared at the tree for some time. It seemed so lovely and full of
life, just like her. I smiled to myself as this thought played around
in my mind. I idly wondered what she and the others were up to and
almost went to see what everyone was doing, but finally decided
against it.

<I could use a moment alone. It's not like they come along very often,
especially on days like this.>

Sitting down on one of the steps, I closed my eyes. I felt the breeze
pick up again, feeling good against my skin. Some birds flew by above
me. I watched their small bodies careen off to some unknown location.
Birds never seemed to stay in one place for long. True, they would
roost or stay in one place long enough to eat, but were always ready
to take off and leave at a moment's notice. Departure, possible in the
blink of an eye. After all, what are a couple minutes to something
that lives for several years? In the same sense, what are several
years to something that lives forever? This thought ran through my
mind as I closed my eyes and was enveloped by a rosy haze.

I opened my eyes and slowly took in my surroundings.

<Kuso, I must have been asleep for several hours. The sun is starting
to set.>

A small mug was sitting next to where I was resting. I picked it up
and took a small sip.

<Darjeeling tea. She never fails to think about me.>

The sky was now a deep orange, tinged with violet. The cherry tree
looked like some sort of divine deity, glowing with the deep orange
backdrop. It was getting cooler since the sun was setting but I did
not want to take my eyes off of the scene before me. I clutched the
mug as close to my body as possible without spilling it, trying to
draw as much of the small amount of heat I possibly could.

A couple stars started to appear in the sky as night eventually fell.
With a slight groan due to reluctance and stiff legs, I got up and
slowly made my way inside. Faint sounds from a television emanated
from upstairs along with the tap of small hands on a keyboard. Another
sound caught my attention: a soft humming accompanied by the rhythmic
clack of a knife against a cutting board. I quietly made my way to the
kitchen doorway. Her back was faced to me so she didn't see me enter.
Her brown hair was tied in a braid that fell down to the small of her
back. It complemented the gold earrings that she often wore. A simple
white apron was worn over an equally simple blue dress. Despite her
otherwise normal appearance, she seemed stunningly beautiful. The
utter simplicity of her appearance seemed perfect on her in every way.
She was cutting up vegetables for a meal that she was preparing while
humming to herself. Whatever song she was humming, I was totally
captivated by it. It resonated happiness and peace, not surprising
considering it was coming from her. Suddenly, something twinged in my
chest, causing a tear to escape out of the corner of my eye. I
uncertainly made my up to her side. Her eyes sparkled while she went
about her business. A small smile curled at her lips. Cooking always
put her in a happy mood. I gingerly leaned forward and clumsily placed
a kiss on her cheek. Her head snapped towards me, eyes wide with
surprise. Her face softened when she realized who had kissed her, her
eyes dancing with love.

"What was that for, K?"

"For being my angel in heaven, Bell. Please don't ever fly away."

I noticed her cheeks flush a bit at what I said.

"Of course not, Keiichi. You are my love, I will always be with you. I
am happier here on earth being with you then I will ever be in
heaven."

Reaching up, I brushed a strand of hair away from her face before I
leaned forward. I softly pressed my lips to hers, reveling in their
softness. I felt her arms encircle me, causing a small jolt of
electricity to race up my spine. She broke the kiss and placed her
head on my shoulder. I encircled her narrow frame in a tight embrace.
We stayed that way for a short time before she mentioned that she
would have to start cooking if dinner was to be ready on time. I
reluctantly freed her from my embrace and made my way over to the
window. Even through the darkness, I could still make out the blossoms
of the cherry tree.

Author's Notes: This is my first fanfic so C and C is of course
welcome. At the time I wrote this, I should have been working but I
needed something to release all my stress. I'd like to thank my own
goddess. I'd also like to thank Trout whose video "Heaven is a Place
on Earth" was the major inspiration for this fic. Ja ne.
