Here is a piece of wisdom for the day: Plaid shirts and striped pants rarely make a positive fashion statement.

Kai heard a voice yell that they were under attack and groaned.
Crap, he thought, They're here.
“See,” Kai whispered to Rei, “I told you they would come.”
“Who/”
“The demon slayers.”
“Why are they chasing you?”
“Because they think I killed their leader.”
`Why?”
Kai smirked.
“Because I watched him die.
“Of what?”
“A heart attack.”
Kai then started to get up.
“What are you doing?” Rei asked quietly.
“I have to stop them,” Kai hissed, “Maybe I can lead them away.”
“No,” Rei said holding him down, The village can handle it.”
Kai gave up trying to get up and lay back down.
“I don't want anyone to die because of me.”
“We won't.”
“How did you know?”
Rei smiled slowly.
“We always take care of these people. Relax.”
Rei started stroking Kai's wing in an attempt to relax him. It seemed to calm him down because he shut his eyes and took a deep breath.
“Tired?” Rei asked.
He nodded.
“You can sleep, no demon hunter can make it into my house.”
Kai sighed and willed himself to sleep.

“He seemed so worried,” Rei said to Mariah, “I wonder why.”
The pink-haired neko-jin looked at Rei.
“Who knows,” Mariah snorted, “Why do you care?”
“Because,” Rei said firmly, “I just do.”
Mariah shrugged.
“What ever Rei.”
She walked out of his hut and left Rei alone.

“Ugh,” Kai groaned, his injured wing twitching.
Kai opened his eyes and saw that he was still in Rei's hut. When he sat up, he saw Rei asleep in a chair.
I put him out of a bed, Kai thought in shame, and he doesn't even seem to care.
Kai stared at Rei for a few minutes until Rei started to stir.
“You're awake this early?” Rei questioned, “Why?”
Kai shrugged.
Rei smiled and said, “Stay down for a little while longer.”
“Why?”
“Because I said so. Now, are you hungry?”
“I guess.”
“Eggs okay?”
Kai nodded and watched Rei prepare the food.

“So,” Rei said handing Kai a plate of food, “You get to try a “Rei Kon” special.”
Kai nodded.
“You're very talkative aren't you?” Rei sneered.
Kai scowled at Rei and he chuckled.
“Rei,” Kai said, “I'm leaving today. I'm leaving no matter what you say.”
“Why?”
“I'm going to bring peace between all demons, fallen angels and humans.”
“How do you expect to do that alone?” Rei asked.
“What?
“I want to help you.”
Kai was shocked. He never had someone help him before.
“Well,” Rei said, “Can I help you?”
Kai nodded.
“Yes, you can.”

Rei and Kai were in the wild, hunting. For what, they didn't know, they just knew that they had to go through with this quest.
“Kai,” Rei said quietly.
Kai looked up in surprise.
“Yeah?”
“Are you okay?”
Kai was leaning against an oak tree.
“I'm fine.”
Kai straightened up and sighed.
“I guess I'm not,” he admitted.
“Let's rest,” Rei suggested, “We can start again tomorrow.”
“I normally travel all day.”
“But you're hurt.”
“I'll be fine!”
“You need to rest!”
“I'll be fine!”
“Then why are you bleeding again?”
&&&&&&&&&
Rei's so irritating, Kai thought in frustration, Why did he make me rest?
Kai sat against a rock and groaned.
But he was right, Kai allowed, I am in pain.
Rei had gone off to find some water and left Kai alone.
Grimacing in pain, Kai tried moving his wings. He found that he could move his right one a little, but movement was too painful.
“Ouch,” Kai muttered.
“I'm back!” Rei called out cheerfully, `And you'd never guess what happened!”
