Chapter 2

"I'm being evicted." She spun on her heel and continued down the hall, leaving Syaoran. After a few extremely long and contemplating seconds Syaoran followed the enraged Sakura.

"Evicted? Why?"

"That's what I intend to find out!" Sakura growled. She continued walking until she reached the last door in the hallway. Banging the door with full force Sakura began to make a distracting racket to the neighbors.

When Syaoran reached Sakura, the door had opened and a tall, thin, woman of about twenty-six opened the door and glared at Sakura.

"What is this?!?!" Sakura demanded as she held up a piece of paper in front of the women.

The woman took the paper and studied it. Her eyes glinted evilly. "Looks like an eviction notice to me." The woman replied with a little smirk.

"A…DUH!!!! But why?"

"You didn't pay the rent?" The woman guessed.

"Bull shit!"

"Listen you little slut. The people in this building believe that you are a bad influence to their kids. You know, with being nine-teen, a single mother, and all." The woman began to close the door but Sakura stopped her.

"Don't even go there Miss Rat-Shit!" Sakura said keeping the door open. By this time the neighbors heard the racket from out side and wanted to see what was happening. "You call me a bad influence, look at you! You're a single mother with three children and you don't even know who the fathers-PLURAL-ARE!! You, two-bit whore, have a man over every night! I'd love to know what your kids think of you, and you call me a bad influence."

"Jealous?"

"Like hell!"

Syaoran stood on the sidelines. He had never seen Sakura this angry before. In fact, he never thought she could yell at anyone. "Her life must be really hard." Syaoran thought while watching the two women. More colorful lingo ensued between them.

One spectator yelled into his apartment, "Cat fight!!" Within seconds five more guys appeared smiling.

"Listen kiddo-"

"Kiddo?!"

"I own this building. The tenants here can't kick me out, but they can kick you out, with permission from me. And I gave them permission."

"Like that's a surprise! You've wanting me out of here since I moved in with Troy. What justifies this?" Sakura was now hysterical and almost yelling at the top of her lungs.

Syaoran walked up to her. "Sakura, the baby…" He whispered in her ear. Slowly she calmed down then she spoke. "You want me to live out in the street?!"

The woman eyed Syaoran, looking him up and down. She then winked at him and smiled seductively. Syaoran was appauled.

"If that's what you have to do. You're out missy. If you're not gone by tomorrow at this time you will be trespassing and I will call the police." The woman said it with such joy and bitchiness that it stunned Sakura for a second. However, that second was enough for Miss Ratchet to close and lock her door.

"Bitch!" Sakura hollered as she kicked the door. After taking a few deep breaths she made her way to the stairs.

All the witnesses were stunned, as was Syaoran, while they stared at the door. There was a huge dent in it. If Sakura had kicked it any harder she would have made a hole in the door, which Syaoran was sure, Sakura would have been happy with. Hesitantly Syaoran followed the enraged Sakura up the stairs to her apartment. The other spectators went back inside their apartments, saying random comments about how glad or sad they were that Sakura was leaving.

When they got inside Sakura went straight to the fridge and opened the freezer. Hastily she pulled out a jumbo tub of chocolate-chip-cookie-dough ice cream. Tears flowed down her cheeks and into the ice cream, but she didn't care.

Kero, who was STILL doing the last bit of dishes, flew over to her. "What's wrong Sakura?"

She didn't answer. After stuffing her mouth full of ice cream and swallowing it, she managed to say between sobs "We're *sob* being *sob* evicted. We have *sob* no place *sob* to go!"

Syaoran this is your moment! Make your move. Syaoran moved over to comfort Sakura. Only then did Kero notice Syaoran, even though it was too late he went into plushy-mode.

"Forget it, Kero." Sakura said poking him with the spoon. "It's Syaoran. You remember him, right?"

"That GAKI!!!" Kero charged Syaoran. Syaoran ducked and Kero, unable to stop, rammed into the wall.

"HA! You can never defeat me!" Syaoran said in a super hero voice in attempt to gain a smile from Sakura. When she gave a small but noticeable grin, Sakura then went back to her comforting ice cream.

"Sakura, don't worry about it-"

"You want me to live in the street too?" Sakura glared at him.

How could she even say that? Sakura, of all people, should know that Syaoran would never, ever want that to happen to her. "No!" He glided over to Sakura. "Why do you think I would want that?"

"I don't know!" Sakura burst into tears. Knowing that the ice cream hadn't done any good, Sakura pushed it away and leaned over the counter sobbing.

"You can come and live with me. I'm sure Ryu won't mind."

"No I-I couldn't…" Sakura shook her head, though, her tears slowed at Syaoran's offer.

"Why must you turn down everything I offer?" Syaoran made the rest of his way over to Sakura and brought her into a protective embrace. His powerful arms snaked around her waste. He was glad that she didn't pull away.

Sakura didn't resist. She needed someone to comfort her. And Kero wasn't really what she wanted. Syaoran's arms held her tight, comforting her, letting her know that she wasn't alone. An indescribable warmth surged through them. She could hear his heartbeat. At first it was fast and out of its rhythm. After a few moments, though, his heart slowed down and kept its normal pace. She was sure he could feel her heart skip beats. It felt like it wanted to jump out of her. Sakura ignored it and her mind that screamed at her. No!! Don't get close! If you do, pain is surely down the road! Sakura didn't care, as long as he was there she didn't care.

"Syaoran, who's Ryu?" Sakura said sniffling.

"Ryu's my cousin. He's here to help me with the loose ends."

"Oh…" Sakura buried her head in the crook of his neck.

After a few more moments like this, Sakura regretfully pulled away. "I must go next door."

Sakura stood in the hallway, staring at the door in front of her. She raised her hand and knocked.

A young man, a few years older than Sakura, opened the door. "Bonjour!"*

"Bonjour, Jean-Paul, *a va?"* Sakura asked the young man while giving him a hug.

"Comme ci comme *a. Et toi?"* He responded. He glanced at Syaoran giving him a glare as if saying, "You hurt her, you die!"

"Tr*s mal. Um… Delphine?"*

Jean-Paul held up his index finger indicating to Sakura to wait a second. "Delphine!" he hollered.

Within seconds a young woman about Sakura's age appeared.

"Sakura!" Delphine squealed. "Come in! Come in!" she lead Sakura and Syaoran in. "How have you been?"

"I'm being evicted." Sakura stated, her voice dripping with disdain.

"What? Why?"

"Miss Rat-shit thinks I'm a bad influence." Sakura sat down on the couch. Syaoran stood behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders. Sakura looked up at him and smiled.

"That whore has a man over every night! And she calls you a bad influence!" Delphine said wide-eyed while handing Sakura a glass of juice.

"That's what I said! Oh! Delphine, Jean-Paul, je te presente Li Syaoran."* Syaoran bowed slightly.

"So that's Syaoran? Kinda cute." Delphine whispered to Sakura in French. Sakura smiled. "Sakura has told me many wonderful things about you."

Sakura blushed, as did Syaoran.

"I came to say good bye." Sakura said.

"Why?"

"If Rat-Shit sees me here again I'll get arrested for trespassing."

"That's Bull!" Delphine blurted out.

"Yeah."

They talked for a little while longer and Jean-Paul slowly began to trust Syaoran once he found out that he was taking Sakura in. Delphine had promised to visit along with Jean-Paul as much as she could.

Everything was packed and taken down to the U-Hall. Sakura and her friendly neighbors said their last good-byes. She and Syaoran headed off.

It was silent. The only things that could be heard were Kero's steady breathing, the occasional rattle of the U-Hall, and the humming of the engine. Sakura stared out her window watching everything pass by. The night was warm and the sunroof and her window were open, sending her hair flying. It felt good.

The car stopped at an intersection and waited. Syaoran turned his head and studied Sakura. For the first time he really soaked in her features. Her hair was long now, probably three to four inches below her shoulders. Her emerald eyes had lost their luster. They were still bright and shimmering, but not so much as they had when he and she parted. She wasn't tall, though her legs were long, her torso wasn't. She couldn't have more than five feet tall.

She moved her arm that was resting on her lap and brushed a stray hair out of her face. Syaoran noticed that her stomach was round. Not big, but a small round bulge on her stomach. He couldn't believe it. His angel had given her virginity away. She was no longer as innocent and na*ve as he thought. He would have noticed it earlier, however, the cream-gray sweater, that seemed three sizes too big, had hidden it.

The light turned green and the car moved forward.

"So, what's up with Rat-Shit back there?" Syaoran asked while be glanced at her out of the corner of his eye.

"She's always hated me. I guess she had a thing for Troy. I moved in with Troy after Otou-san died. He was a good friend and cared for me as I cared for him. Miss Rat-Shit didn't believe we loved each other, until after that night when he and I….." Sakura drifted off into some unknown world. A small smile appeared on her lips.

Syaoran could feel his heart burn. Anger, disappointment, and… jealousy filled him. Was it jealousy? He had never felt this way before about someone. Never. Why did it feel like he would spontaneously combust? I hurt to know that she had found another. It hurt to know that she had…… had been with someone else.

"She's wanted me out since then. She's been trying to find a reason and I guess she did." Sakura whispered. A small crystaline tear rolled down her cheek, followed by many others. "God, how I miss that man."

Syaoran unconsiously reached out his hand and intertwined it with hers. He then pulled her hand up and kissed the back of it softly. Sakura didn't mind. It felt good to have someone there for her, someone to care for her. For the remainder of the ride their fingers lingered, intertwined, glued together as Sakura silently shed tears of mourning.

They had reached the house in no time. It was small, like a regular house. Nothing really fancy to it, but it still looked beautiful, amazing, and every other wonderful word. A stone wall surrounded the yard and a wooden door stood open. Sakura could see the garden inside; thousands of different plants could be seen from her limited view. She heard running water, like that of a stream. The house, from what she could gather, was old, about a century old, but still had the comforts of a modern home. The ancient oriental style was enhanced by the xeriscape gardens surrounding it. Sakura stood in awe.

"Are you just going to stand there?"

Sakura snapped out of La La Land and picked up her things from the back seat. She woke Kero and grabbed The Clow book that he slept on. Kero flew out of the car and headed toward the house. Sakura followed, and Syaoran watched her eyes light up as she walked in the gardens. He grabbed a few bags and closed the back door. He could hear Sakura mention how beautiful it was and how amazing the house was.

"This is amazing!" She squealed, while walking through the seemingly endless gardens.

"Sakura." Syaoran called. She turned around and followed him into the house. And she thought the outside was amazing. The inside was twice as beautiful. Various plants native to Japan lined the wide hallway.

"This is the closet." Syaoran said pointing to a door next to them. "This is the living room." Syaoran pointed to his left "And back there is the kitchen." He pointed near the end of the hall.

"Hellooooooooo!" Someone said from inside the kitchen. "I ordered some pizza. Hope weren't planning on eating anything else!" Kero flew around freely until he heard the voice. One second he was in front of Sakura the next he was hiding in her hair.

"Who's that?" Sakura asked as they headed down the hall.

"Ryu." He stated. Syaoran grabbed Sakura's stuff and headed down the hall. "Make your self at home."

Sakura followed him until he went up the stairs. She turned to the kitchen. A handsome young man about her age was reading the newspaper.

"I ordered three large's. One cheese, one pepperoni, and one veggie supreme." Ryu said still reading the paper, not bothering to look up.

"He must think I'm Syaoran." Sakura thought thoughtfully, "Hello," Sakura said in her sweetest voice.

Ryu jumped up and flew out of his seat, screaming. Gluing himself to the wall, he stared at Sakura in panic. Syaoran ran down the stairs scared to death of what just happened only to find Sakura doubled over laughing and Ryu against the wall completely terrified.

"What happened?" Syaoran asked looking back and forth between the two.

"I scared him!" Sakura managed to say between laughs.

"She did not!" Ryu countered.

"He screamed and…. and slammed himself against the wall! It was hilarious!"

"I did not scream." Ryu said slowly separating himself from the wall.

"I think you did." Syaoran smirked.

"I did not! Who are you?" He looked at Sakura then to Syaoran, once he realized that Sakura couldn't stop laughing, "Who is she?"

"Ryu, this is Sakura, Sakura, this is Ryu. Sakura will be staying with us for a while." Syaoran said helping Sakura sit down before she hurt her self.

"That's Sakura?" Ryu asked eyeing her. Somehow he had pictured her less… less beautiful. However, he was proved wrong as he looked at her shimmering emerald eyes and shinning auburn hair.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Eventually, everything was moved in and Ryu was filled in about why Sakura was living with Syaoran and he. Sakura was shown around the house and was told that Ryu knew about the Clow Cards, so Kero could fly around freely. Syaoran had gone to bed a few minutes ago and Sakura stayed down stairs to talk to Ryu and finish the pizza.

"So you're…" Ryu began but trailed off.

"I'm what?" Sakura asked after taking a sip of her tea. Dried leaves soaked in water. Nothing could get better than this.

"You're pregnant?"

"Yes. Three months." Sakura said staring at the counter.

"Someone had some fun." Ryu said under his breath.

"What?" Sakura looked up and locked her gaze with Ryu's

"Nothing." He broke the gaze and looked at the floor. How interesting it had suddenly become. "You know, it's amazing." He had said after gathering some courage.

"What is?" Sakura took another sip of her tea.

"That it hasn't hit him yet." Ryu stood up and got a bag of cookies. "These are really good, you should try them."

"Thank you, um… What hasn't hit him?"

"That you're… pregnant. Usually with big news like that he freaks out."

They were silent for a while. Nothing uncomfortable, just a small pacific silence. It was broken by something unexpected: a holler from above.

"Syaoran?" Sakura whispered.

"Damn it!" Sakura looked at Ryu; "I spoke too soon! Ya know I always do that.

Within seconds Syaoran was down the stairs and running toward Sakura. She spun completely around to face him. Syaoran grabbed her shoulders and looked deep into he eyes.

"Sakura, are you-?" Sakura nodded slowly still keeping the eye contact. Releasing her shoulders he stood up right, "Oh, ok." He said plainly. His eyes rolled back and he collapsed.

Author's Notes: Okay hopefully that didn't suck as much butt as I thought….. Sorry about all the swearing. I just wanted to show you how much Sakura hated Rat-Shit.

*Also, that small conversation in French translates to…

"Hello!"

"Hello, Jean-Paul, how are you?"

"So, so. And you?"

"Very bad. Um…. Delphine?"

and then later on…

"…Oh! Delphine, Jean-Paul, may I present Li Syaoran."

So, yeah….. PLEASE REVIEW!! I would appricate it very much. Thank you!
